A bit confusing at first, but things become easier to follow as the story progresses. Descriptions were good, pacing was a little slow. Unsure about the historical accuracy of the novel (Flora does not seem like a name someone from this time/place would have, amongst other things), but an overall enjoyable read.

I generally enjoy historical fiction, especially set during the time period of Picts and Hadrian's Wall. While I did enjoy the historical aspects, I wouldn't put this book on my shelf to read again in the future. It was okay, but not the most memorable.

This novel sounded interesting because was set in the Celtic era. However, the story was very slow moving and it became repetitive. I would have enjoyed it much better had it been shorter. Still, I recommend this for fans of Avelynn.

I was captivated by this book, thoroughly immersed in the characters, completely annoyed and aggravated for the heroine. The setting felt surreal and atmospheric, and it was a big part of why I enjoyed this book, while I was pleased w/the abrupt ending that felt a lil jarring and undone to me., I would still recommend and read more from this Author. The hard stop ending might not appeal to everyone, but I really enjoyed the read nonetheless. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review prior to publication.

I enjoyed reading Daughter of the Gods: A Novel of the Picts. I loved being brought back in time to the Celtic times. Four stars.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this book.

I'm up in the air about this one... I enjoyed the historical aspect, but it was extremely descriptive to the point of being too wordy at times. I liked the premise, but I don't think this is going on me "re-read" list.

I always enjoy historical fiction books. But, this one I just could not finish. I wanted to enjoy it.

If your're looking for a happy ending with this one, forget it. However, it is a well written tale of sacrifice of selflessness. It is also a look at what one imagines goes through the mind of one of a follower of the old religion. Magic and mayhem are to be found in this tale of life in the highlands.

Always enjoy a bit of historical fiction from time to time and I found this an interesting and enjoyable read. A bit different from what I usually read in this particular category, but it was still a book I enjoyed and would certainly look out for the author again.

Unfortunately, I am going to stop reading at 10%. The beginning of this book is very much without structure and the writer's style of writing is not for me. The beginning is very repetitive. The main character repeatedly asks like 4-5 questions in a row in her confused hysteria and frequently resorts to sobbing on the ground and pulling her hair in response to stress. The description of her surroundings is repetitive and extensive. On a positive note, the cover is very beautiful and had a lot of impact on me choosing this book. The description of the book is also quite good, but unfortunately, the writing does not meet my expectations.

First, thank you Bryan Canter, BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for this ARC.

The book was far too long and boring to finish. I tried, but because it was so slow, I had difficulty concentrating, and had to stop. I like long books, but not slow ones. It's too bad, because the premise seemed interesting. I suggest the author have someone edit their next book.
