If the first half of this duet is the slow burn, then this one is the SIZZLE, because it starts with a BANG and doesn’t let up after that. This installment is steamy and all kinds of suspenseful, with a focus on getting everything out in the open and moving forward. It picks up right where the first book let off, so reading them in order is imperative - and most of the relationship development takes place in that book. This is definitely more of an instalove story; I would've liked a little less suspense and a lot more focus on a connection beyond the surface level (and the lust), but the duet makes for a quick, action-filled read that certainly satisfies.

Storyline-wise, this installment is MUCH more suspenseful and MUCH steamier than the first book. Anyone who has read The Spy in 3B knows that these two neighbors have just started to see past the lies and secrets, and everything came to a head in a big way at the end of the first book. I really liked Marcus in this half - his sweetness and genuine care shine through. Lyra still didn't win me over in this, but I liked her a lot more than I did before. Their relationship is more intense and compelling in this part of the story, and the first half of The Assassin in 5F was pretty great. The second half was less successful for me, because I saw the twist coming a mile away... in the first book. So that part wasn't all that exciting, and the ending also felt abrupt and unfinished. I'm betting that we'll see more from these characters in future books, though this is technically the end of Marcus and Lyra's story. Fans of quick, hot stories will like this more than those looking for a well developed romance, but I enjoyed it overall. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy story.

Fun, fast paced and hella steamy, The Assassin in 5F is a satisfying conclusion to this action filled duet.

In true Nana fashion, it has everything you could possibly need: a kick ass heroine, a swoony and protective hero, hilarious supporting characters, lots of action and some serious heat! Though the plot twist didn't catch me by surprise, this is just a fun and dang entertaining read, perfect to get lost in for a few hours.
