Very traditional cozy mystery with a great sense of place. The characters are interesting and it was a very well-written book..
I've become a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery. Maybe not my ultimate favorite but definitely worth a read.
Rain has decided to make the midwest her home. Unfortunately another dead body makes an appearance at the local fishing tournament. Wallace, the deceased, just happened to be one of Rain's most recent library patrons. When her best friend's husband is arrested for murder, Rain finds herself trying to solve another murder.
Interestingly a new love interest, Ryan Wright, enters this series.
While I enjoyed the story, I didn't love the dialogue between Rain and her friends. I felt it was a little distracting.
3 1/2 stars. Quick enjoyable read with fun, likeable characters. Fun, small town feel with the Lakers and the little library
A log cabin library, an ice fishing tournament, and a mighty blizzard set the theme for Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library.
Rain is still getting accustomed to living in the bitter cold, but spending time with books and friends makes it all worthwhile.
When Wallace Benson visits the library seeking cookbooks for the Chili Dump, Rain is happy to help him. Unfortunately, it’s the last time she will see him, alive that is.
When her best friend’s husband is accused of the crime, Rain will stop at nothing to prove his innocence.
I really enjoyed this book, there’s something about a story that involves a blizzard that always appeals to me.
I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t stop until I was finished.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

Ice Fishing Gets Deadly….
The second outing in the Lakeside Library series of mysteries, Winter has arrived in Wisconsin and the Lofty Pines Library is now a proper home to Rain. The annual Ice Fishing Jamboree brings tragedy, however, when a man is found dead. It’s up to Rain to do some amateur sleuthing - particularly when her good friend becomes suspect number one. A solid follow up in the series and an enjoyable and engaging read.
The second book in this established cozy mystery series was genuinely enjoyable. Holly Danvers keeps her characters and story readable with the perfect amount of quaint and quirk.
Great book and amazing author. If you haven't read her books yet I highly recommend doing to. Took me 2 days to read this book
Rain Wilmot has settled into her family’s lob cabin and is running their library as well. She’s gotten o know more people and is shocked when a local man is found dead in is icy shanty during the annual fishing festivities. He had recently been in the library to borrow some books and when Rain finds them in the book drop with a note from the dead man, she has to decipher the clues and save her friend Nick, who is the prime suspect. Now the question is whether Rain can write the final chapter in the mystery or whether she’ll be shelved along with Benson.
A solid second entry in this series. While I have read the first one, I do believe this reads fine as a standalone. The setting, mystery and characters are all well developed and keep you turning the pages to find out whodunit and doesn’t disappoint.
