Orange Cream Dreams was a fun-to-read love story. The characters were likable, but the plot was a little predictable. Callie Clark is a rich twenty-something who wants to prove she can run a successful ice cream shop, and handyman Dean Lowry is surly and thinks Callie is spoiled. Orange Cream Dreams and Murderous Schemes by D. M. Grant is the first book in the One Scoop or Two series, and my first book by this author. I really enjoyed this book it is short, but has the enemies to lovers romance, and a mystery thrown in. And how can you go wrong with ice cream. This is a perfect escape read! I am looking forward to the next book in the series, I am hoping it will be longer. I recommend this book if you enjoy cozy mysteries with romance thrown in.

I was intrigued by the cover and the title, however, the story didn't work for me. Callie seemed a bit immature and I wasn't able to feel a connection with her or any of the characters. Perhaps I will read this another time and see if my opinion changes.

Fast paced and enjoyable. It’s a short read but quite frankly it’s worth it either way.

This was a shorter book and a very quick read about a small town murder involving an ice cream shop. Cute and funny characters with an interesting plot!

Note: this is a short book of only 98 pages so there’s not a lot of room to get into a complicated plot. I had trouble getting into this book. I’m not sure why. Maybe the style? I didn’t buy the instant love between Callie and Dean when they hated each other so much. If they hate each other so much, why jump into bed so fast? Callie is a rich girl who wants to prove that she can do things on her own, but her ice cream shop gets shut down after just a few days due to the murders. And the murderer was obvious to me so no real mystery there.

What I liked: the imagery is nicely done. And I liked the characters even if their relationship didn’t work for me. And there’s a good HEA ending that satisfies.

What I didn’t like: When Callie is hurt by the killer and is unconscious, why didn’t the family call an ambulance? Yes, a doctor eventually shows up, but it really bothered me that they didn’t do more than that.

Recommendation: It’s a decent story. It just didn’t work for me. But it had a good ending that satisfied. You might love it. And it’s short, so why not give it a try?

A lovely fast paced instant love enemies to lovers mystery! Plenty of action, angst, family love and support, and ice cream all rolled into one. I really enjoyed this book. I've found a new author to enjoy. I'm excited for the next book.

Orange Cream Dreams and Murderous Schemes is both romance and murder mystery. The main character, Callie, is spoiled rich girl, that perfectly off-sets Dean, the handsome, penniless grounds keeper. Enemies to lovers, I found the characters worth cheering for and the plot easy to follow. From an early murder, the mystery moved along nicely, and the clues kept my interest until the end. The one thing that would have made it better for me, would have been a not quite so perfect happy-ever-after. A quick read that made a lazy summer day swim past. Good summer read, D. M. Grant.

Love the title….
I had a hard time getting into the story. I’m not sure why. I think it was that the writing style did not draw me in.
The main character, Callie, just seemed immature to me. The romance aspect was meh.
I would like to reread Orange Cream Dreams and Murderous Schemes in the future. It has everything going for it to be a great read.
I certainly recommend you read this book and see how you like it.

I have to say the title was what drew me to this book. It grabbed my attention, and I am glad it did.
I am glad I found this series. I was hooked and can not wait to read more by this author.
The mixture of the story line with a bit of romance and a bit of mystery is a great combination.

New author for me and a wonderful series. If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend doing so. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

For all intents and purposes this should have been a book that I loved. It is a combination of murder mystery and enemies-to-lovers romance taking place at a lakeside resort, all things I usually gobble up in books. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me and I think it comes down to me not loving the writing style. The way that it was written really just kept reminding me that I was reading a book rather than immersing me into the story itself.
