“I knew in that moment that Andie was seeing me—all of me—in a way I’d never felt seen before.”
4.5/5 ⭐️ “My Cone and Only” is officially one of my favorite reads of 2021!
I’ll be honest, the “brother’s best friend” trope is always either a hit or miss for me. More often than not, the storyline tends to be predictable and the drama always tends to play out the same way.
So I really loved that while Susannah hit a lot of those typical plot points that come naturally with the “brother’s best friend” trope, she also brought a unique aspect to the book with Wyatt’s music storyline along with all of his family drama (and of course all the ice cream talk!)
Wyatt & Andie — I absolutely adored Wyatt! I truly didn’t think I would end up liking him in the beginning, but I was pleasantly surprised by him! His character had so much depth and I loved getting to see the softer and more vulnerable side that Andie seemed to bring out of him. Those two honestly just brought out the best in each other and their chemistry felt so natural and sweet that you can’t help but root for them! On the flip side, their physical chemistry was just as palpable and those steamy scenes were >>> 🔥🥵!
My only real gripe with this book was the drama towards the end. I wish it had played out differently, especially given Josh’s honest feelings about everything afterwards. But hey, it at least led to some A+ groveling!
Overall “My Cone and Only” was a sweet/heartfelt read and I will absolutely be buying a physical copy on release day to add to my library! And I of course cannot wait to see how Tanner and Lucy’s story plays out next!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Author Collective 20 for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was my first book by Susannah Nix and I'm in love. It won't be the last.
I didn’t know what I expected from this book, but I really enjoyed it. Wyatt King is a character that has surprised me throughout the book. He loves flirting with women and has a reputation as a womanizer. Wyatt is a person who is always smiling, flirting and is happy but behind that facade there is much more, and has his doubts and fears.
Andie Lockhart is a character that is strong and smart and I love the confidence she has in Wyatt.
Their relationship is beautiful, always had a crush on each other, and how nice it was reading Wyatt opening up with her.
Can't wait to know more about Tanner and Lucy, and I hope we can also see more of Mia and Josh in the next books.
Sorry for spelling mistakes, english is not my first language.
I love the cover of this book and love reading dance scenes in books, so the first chapter snagged my attention early on. I enjoyed reading about the mutual attraction between these two main characters. I was not much of a fan of the main male character in the beginning of the book, who was clearly using alcohol and women to distract him from what he thought he couldn't have. Although those are characteristics I don't enjoy reading about, the author quickly reveals that there's more to this guy than meets the eye. His hidden talent and love for songmaking adds this unique hidden window into who this man really is and where his affections truly lie. I enjoyed reading this story and quickly got swept up in the chemistry and tension of these two main characters. I felt invested in their story and wanted to see how their HEA came about so much that I read this in one sitting. On a side note, I really appreciated the content/trigger warnings in the beginning of the book. While those themes don't bother me, I have been blindsided by one of my own triggers in other stories I've read. I always appreciate the heads up before I start a story. Thank you to netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
