This is my second book my Chandler Baker, after reading “The Husbands.” I felt like this one was lacking some of the true “thriller” for me, being that it was categorized as one. I had a hard time keeping interest in the book until close to the end when things finally started to unravel. Yes, it’s a great topic to bring awareness to with this book but honestly I wasn’t a fan of the overall storyline. “The Husbands” was way better.

Whisper Network definitely keeps you guessing! It’s a fast-paced, gripping, whodunnit thriller set in the midst of the #metoo movement. The author did a great job tackling some of the biggest issues surrounding women in our time. I loved the multiple POVs and thought the different characters brought so much to this book. This book not only brings a great mystery to the table but also delivers a great message.

I listened to the audiobook of this one and it was so well done. I enjoyed the narrator.

This book to me feels like part murder mystery and part ripped from the headlines. There are many relevant topics covered in this book, sexual harassment, infidelity, unequal pay, cyber bullying, job inequality. The story is told from several different perspectives that seem to flow nicely together. This story is about a group of women who are concerned that a current disrespectful supervisor is going to become the CEO of the law firm they all work for due to the sudden death of the current CEO. It is at this point they decide to ban together and speak up about what has gone on during their several years of employment. There are many twists and turns regarding a death and each women’s story regarding sexual harassment.
I would recommend this book to others.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Baker's first adult novel is a feminist thriller for the #MeToo era…It's a light page-turner of a book, which is the brilliance of it: Under the froth is an unmistakable layer of justified rage.

If you are a working woman or working mother you are sure to connect with this book! The truths about the things we women do in order to play small and minimize our private lives, not raise a fuss, not be too loud, to be thin and pretty enough, and so many other ways we mold ourselves in order to not be too much of anything are sure to resonate with each woman who reads this book. I found myself shaking my head, getting frustrated, and laughing at times during this book. Not that any of these subjects are a laughing matter, but when you hear exhaustive lists of items you yourself have done in order to fit in you can either get angry or laugh at the absolute absurdity of it. While I have never been sexually assaulted, I have had my fair share of stares, comments, jokes and put downs from men, and I could relate to so much of the content of this book. This book is told from the perspective of several different women and jumps around between time periods. This helped the story unfold in a very interesting way and kept my interest. As I made my way through the book there were times I felt the women were being dishonest with each other, but after I finished the book I realized this is because we are taught as women to hide our truth, for a multitude of reasons, which is the entire point of this book. Ultimately I found the book to be quite empowering, and it makes me want to speak nothing but truthfully to other women, because you never know who needs to hear your story in order to feel brave enough to tell their own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook version of this book in exchange for my honest review. I liked the narrator and felt she did a great job!

I had been hearing a lot of great things about this book so it has been on my tbr shelf. The narrator was great, but the story was so boring! I have been trying to listen to this book for weeks, but I just can’t get in to it at all. Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Whisper Network by Chandler Baker was a combination of Pretty Little Liars and Legally Blonde. Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead. It’s a Reese’s Book Club pick so you know it will be good. I knew there would be a twist and I truly did not expect it. I enjoyed the narrator and hearing about how the author came up with the idea for this book.

Chandler baker is one of my favorite authors becuase of the way she puts so much of herself into her books. The me too movement in this book was a pleasant surprise and I really liked the thriller aspect. I highly recommend if you’ve never read anything by her.

A brilliant #metoo movement novel that brings the stories and experiences of women to the forefront. The narration really brought this story to life and created a captivating listening and reading experience. Great book, highly recommend

This is such a great book! I was fortunate to obtain an advanced readers paperback copy some time ago and really enjoyed it. When the opportunity arose to listen to the audio version, I lept at the chance and was not disappointed. The narration is excellent and helps the reader identify with the characters with even more clarity.

I feel that the character struggles are written in such a relatable way that it’s a challenge to find which one you identify with most!

After reading The Husbands by Chandler Baker, I had to read more by this author.. Chandler Baker's writing is compared to Liane Moriarty, but I feel that Baker has a lot more raw feminism in her writing. This book is no different with a heavy #MeToo theme..

As the blurb suggests, Sloane, Ardie, Grace and Rosalita all work for Truviv under a male boss that will be quickly up for a promotion after the sudden death of the company's CEO. As the book unfolds, we find that each of these women hold secrets surrounding their male boss. As you might of guessed, their male boss is not a very nice man....

I absolutely adore Baker's writing style. I read where someone wrote that Baker's writing is exactly the same in all of her books (i.e. Woman are _____. They are _____ and ______. ______ And _____. They are ______ and they are ______). I had absolutely zero problem with this and will read just about anything by this author. If she wants to continue to list the inequalities of women and men, I will gladly read them. Every. Single. Time.

I did not particularly care for the list that the woman were emailing to each other. In the book. it is mentioned on and off that there is a list that is circulating in the area of men that are known to be awful in some way to woman. I feel that this whole story would have been just fine without this list. I didn't find it believable in such accomplished woman in a law firm to have an e-slambook and I don't feel that it existing changed the story all that much.

TW: Rape; Cyberbullying

Is there truth behind the whispers?

When the CEO suddenly dies, the candidate next in line for the position is someone nobody wants in that chair. The rumors…the whispers, of his sexual indiscretions with some of the women at the firm run rampant.

Perhaps I wasn’t the best reader for this book. I don’t work in a high powered, male dominated environment. The CEO at the company I work for is an extremely strong and confident woman who demonstrates professionalism at all times. And though I know the behaviors demonstrated in this book are prevalent in the business world I had some difficulty relating to the women in this book.

Also, my expectations were that I would be reading a thriller. Though there may have been brief, rare moments that held some excitement. Overall, I would classify this more as women’s fiction.

I felt the woman were stretching for an active role in a man's world. They whined and moaned more in the first half than taking action against the wrongs they felt the men were dishing to them. I was disappointed in this as The Husbands was such a strong and powerful connection to where a woman is in a man's world in regard to mothering.

I used to like Reese's Book Club picks, but this one, in similar fashion to the last couple, was a drag. I consider myself a pretty big feminist, but this book just missed the mark for me. I liked the idea behind many of the topics discussed, but the overall plot of the book was boring. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for a copy of this book for an honest review.

I liked the message of this book. I liked that there was an author's note. I could see actor Dean Winters( actor from all state commercial) playing Ames.

DNF at like 20 % in.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my gifted audio copy.

The narrator of this book was pretty good. It was the book itself that was the problem.

I was bored and the story wasn't moving fast enough.
The characters were flat and I didn't care about them.

It's possible that I didn't give this book enough of a chance to grow on me. I have other books that I'm excited to read / listen to so I've decided to move on.

I don't know if I will be reading more by this author. We'll see.

This one just didn't hit the mark for me. Although relevant to movements such as #metoo, the execution of the story was long and felt tedious to listen to. I felt like that characters were not likable or distinguishable. The story felt scattered. I felt like at the heart of the story the women were supposed to ban together and be stronger in the male dominated workplace, but yet that wasn't quite conveyed through the story. Also, where was the thrilling part of the story as mentioned in the description? Just lost me unfortunately.

A novel with a timely plot based on recent current headlines. I think all women can relate on some level. I wouldn't say this is a thriller but there is a mystery that unravels throughout the novel.
A multitude of issues are addressed in the novel which made it muddy. I appreciate the authors attempt to bring many of these taboo issues to light but having them all in one book was muddy for me.
Trigger warning for discussion of postpartum depression, sexual harassment, work place harassment.
Other topics include work/life balance, affairs, men/women and money, power struggles, pay inequality.

The author's note at the end relating her won experience I thought was one of the best parts of the book.

Having lived in Dallas for many years, the entire experience of reading this book was a bit surreal. Nearly every place mentioned in the story are places I've been myself and it's bizarre.

The timely and accurate depictions of the woman experience in the traditional workplace is on par with reality and will likely strike a cord with readers with experience in that world. The storyline is compelling and immediately puts you the world of the leading ladies. Baker does a fantastic job of establishing a mystery that is captivating, but makes you periodically forget that there is still a mystery to be solved. It adds an extra dimension every time we jump to a deposition excerpt.

The characters are complex and interesting, but due to the vast difference in life experience between myself and the cast of characters and how accurately "Dallas" many of them are, it was occasionally difficult to connect. That said, as a woman, it is almost impossibly not to relate with their experiences with misogyny, balancing work and family, and personal identity. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good female-focused mystery.

Almarie Guerra is a delightful narrator who adds to this incredibly written story with every word. The pace and dimensions of her narration is absolutely perfect.

I struggled with this book.

Sloan, Ardie, and Grace are extremely hard to tell apart, especially in the beginning. It flipped between people so quickly it was hard to keep track of who was saying or doing what.

Overall it was an enjoyable story, but I did not love it.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook! This is my honest voluntary review.
