Such a great, gruesome Fear Street story! I loved the suspense and thought it was well paced. The narrator of the audio book did such a great job, I listened to this over a long drive and absolutely loved it! I didn't anticipate the twist and loved the ending. So good! Now I'm ready to watch the Netflix series!!

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Fun read. Brought back some nostalgia from when I was reading these in school. Always a fun read reading some R.L. Stine

R. L. Stine has once again given me the chills via his books! He is the Stephen King equivalent for Young Adults!
The Dead Boyfriend is about an infatuation gone totally wrong! You know how first love is fast and hard that is how hard Caitlin fell for Blade. But, when Blade decides to cancel his plans with Caitlin for another girl she does what any teenager would do, she confronts him! But when Blade basically blows her off Caitlin is hurt and she thought what they had was special!
So like most teenage girls, she can't let it go, so she decides to wait for him to return and when he does he blows her off even more! Then she sees red, she has Blade's blood all over her hands, and it's all her fault!
Will she ever get out of this mess? What happens next read on to see how the chilling story unfolds!
I received the audiobook from Macmillian audio on Netgalley and I cannot thank them enough for this opportunity! I enjoyed this story soo much that I had to get the series so I could read the next installments! Definitely check these out if you are looking for a chilling story!

Really fun and quick read! This book was fast paced and the chapters were short enough that you could listen to them on break at work or in the car. Also loved the nostalgia factor. Used to love reading Fear Street books as a teen, and I’m so glad they are making a comeback!

The Dead Boyfriend, R. L. Stine, 2016, My Goodreads Star Rating: 4 Stars

I would like to say thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Macmillan Young Listeners for providing me with a complementary audio version of R. L. Stines' "The Dead Boyfriend". I could not have been more excited for the opportunity to listen to and review this book. As a child I grew up reading R. L. Stine and I attribute my love of the horror genre to his books. To this day I still am, and will forever be an R. L. Stine fan.

Caitlyn is the main character of the story and her entire world is turned upside down when she meets Blade. Never having a boyfriend before, she falls head over heels in love with Blade and she can't get enough of him by her side. Now that Caitlyn has Blade, she pushes her friends aside and focuses only on their new blossoming love; but it as she really sees it? Is he really meant to be her love? When Caitlyn sees Blade out with another blonde after canceling a date and a strange encounter with a girl named Deena Fear will change everything for Caitlyn.

Realizing that she means nothing to Blade, Caitlyn becomes angry and kills Blade in heated passion and now she has a "Dead Boyfriend". When someone is dead though, they are supposed to stay dead right? Not this time. Blade begins to haunt Caitlyn and she must figure out how to stop him and move on. The pain of loosing Blade is unbearable and she appears to be going crazy to those around her.

I enjoyed this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat for my entire listening experience and then the ending happened. I was left asking myself, " ok, what just happened?". I was completely surprised by the conclusion as I did not see it coming. I was left questioning the reality of what I listened to in the story and this why "The Dead Boyfriend" receives a four star rating. I love a book with a surprise twist and this one delivered!! Another reminder as to why R. L. Stine is a King of horror in the literary world.

I grew up on R.L. Stine. These books did not disappoint. He is still one of the best story teller's. Of course this is geared towards YA. I would love if he wrote a few general fiction books.

I really liked the narrator, I think she was a great choice. I wasn't a big fan of the story itself though.
Thank you Netgalley for the review copy.

Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy of the audiobook for The Dead Boyfriend in exchange for an honest review.

I really, really didn't want to join the "the rereleases are cashgrabs" train, but this one was just... not good. And it didn't feel like it was even trying to be. Even the description manages to get a character name and major scene wrong somehow and everything about the rest of the plot kind of follows suit.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, Brittany Pressley (narrator), and R. L. Stine for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of The Dead Boyfriend in exchange for an honest review.

I used the NetGalley Shelf App to listen to this audiobook. The narrator, Brittany Pressley, did an amazing job narrating the main character, Caitlin, and her voice acting brilliantly brings the character to life, especially in moments that make her seem whiny or hyper-reactive. Excellent, easy, and fun to listen to.

When Caitlin meets Blade, he's perhaps too good to be true, and she ignored other aspects of life as she falls head-over-heels for him. She's a pretty basic female character, and can be kind of whiny and stupid at times. When she catches Blade with another girl, she goes ballistic and stabs him a whole bunch, which feels quite random and out of character.

Caitlin then spends the rest of the novel handling what she did, seeing the corpse of Blade haunt her and the townspeople, and all the while, she seeks some truth. It was her, but maybe it wasn't. When she turns her suspicions to a girl who belongs to the local Fear family, she no longer has the will to differentiate her own truth from the events happening around her.

White the narrator seemed to do things suddenly and out of character and was a very basic whiny high school girl, I found the book to be quite interesting once it hit the title's namesake and the boyfriend became dead. There were a few interesting spooky moments that drew me in. The book is a great easy read for younger (teen) horror fans, as there really isn't much depth to it. The narrator is phenomenal and listening to this book was quite enjoyable. I feel like the audiobook brings the content of this novel up a notch. A fun, easy listen for a drive.

Brings me back to my childhood when I read these all the time. This author started my love of mystery/thriller books. Great story for a preteen/teen audience.

Thank you #Netgalley for the audiobook of The Dead Boyfriend by R. L. Stine in exchange for an honest review. These are such fun books to put on and listen to as I do laundry and cook. They aren't too deep or intense, but provide a welcome distraction and entertainment. The Dead Boyfriend is about a girl who feels things very deeply and is very impulsive, she finds out her boyfriend is not who she thinks he is and takes action, but all actions have consequences.

This book was pretty nostalgic for me. I grew up reading R L Stine as a middle schooler. I think this book gave me the same feels as they did when I was a kid. I love the way Stine tells a story. It is always a good time. Super suspenseful.

So I've been a big Fear Street fan since I was a kid and have binged all the movies on Netflix which is why I wanted to request this title and take a trip down memory lane. With that being said this book didn't don it for me at all. I felt the story line to be way over the top and found myself rolling my eyes as I listened. I wasn't buying the I'm writing a movie excuse. I will say that I did enjoy the narration especially since they sound like a teenager throughout the whole story. The narrator alone is why I continued with this story.

I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as I liked the first one that I read, but it was still a lot of fun and pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. I like how these are almost on the line of being cheesy but just barely stay away from getting too much so.

**3.5-stars**

The Dead Boyfriend tells a story of teenage infatuation gone terribly wrong. Caitlin falls for Blade, the mysterious new boy, at first sight. She can't believe her luck when he seems to be into her too. Like really, really into her.

They fall hard and fast, like many first loves do. Caitlin couldn't be happier. That is until the night Blade cancels a date with her and she catches him out with another girl. Caitlin confronts him, but he acts like she means nothing to him. She can't believe it. How can he do this to her!?

Unable to let it go, she heads to his house to wait for him to return at the end of the night. When Blade arrives, he is acting completely normally, like nothing happened. It's like their blowout didn't affect him at all. Caitlin sees red. Literally, on her hands. Blood. Blade is dead and she's to blame.

Told mostly through a quasi-epistolary format, with the majority of the novel being presented as Caitlin's diary entries, this story gets real wild. In addition to the craziness with Blade, who make no mistake, doesn't stop bother Caitlin just because he dies, there's also her bizarre interactions with Deena Fear, of the infamous Fear family.

While I didn't enjoy this story quite as much as I enjoyed, The Lost Girl, it is still a fun Teen Scream. Brittany Pressley is the absolute PERFECT person to narrate these new Relaunch audiobooks. She is so believable as these characters; I am really caught up by her voice. Overall, this is a solid YA-Horror; exactly what you would expect from a Fear Street book. The nostalgia is real!

Thank you so much to the publisher, Macmillan Audio, for providing me with a copy to listen to. I had so much fun hearing Caitlin's story and am looking forward to more Fear Street Relaunch audiobooks!!!

I have a lot of nostalgia associated with R.L. Stine and the Goosebumps books. I also recently watched the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix and *really* enjoyed it. For these reasons, I decided to give this audiobook a try.

I liked this one even less than The Lost Girl, which is saying a bit. I don't want to give anything away, but the ending made me irrationally angry, haha. Maybe I'm just picking the wrong Fear Street books. I'm interested in the Fier family, but they were only minor characters and a bit of a joke. This one just wasn't for me either.

**I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher!

This was just fine and that's about it. It wasn't as scary as I imagined and the "twist" at the end was ambiguous and confusing. I will say however I love the narrator, she is one of my favorites and I will listen to books just because she did them.

Caitlin has her first real boyfriend and she is truly in love. But when she sees her true love Blade with another girl she freaks out and kills him. But then she starts seeing him places, hes back from the dead and haunting her. What follows is a classic zombie tale where Caitlin tries to figure out how to get rid of Blade for good.

Once again a spooky tale from R.L Stine.

I love the narration, it really adds to the ambience and overall creepiness of the book.

I enjoy that each book follows a different character from Shadyside.

Definitely a good listen for young adults and teenagers

A good introduction into the wonderful world of horror.
