I feel like the author wasn’t sure what she wanted this book to be. There were superpowers, corporate espionage, crime rings, babysitting…And I get it. K-Dramas can often meld these different plots together to make a fun and engaging drama. But they always have the character development to support the crazy. That was lacking here.
The writing felt choppy and disconnected in its attempt to connect Jun-Young’s powers as he aided Seung-Hyun in his vigilante efforts. It came across as two very different stories with no real coherence.
I also have to wonder at setting the story in South Korea. From the writing, I feel like the author may not be Korean. This felt distinctly American to me - like someone was trying to capitalize on someone else’s culture without fully understanding it.
