Detective Casey White is recovering from a work related incident and trying to regain her strength. While running along the beach early one morning, she discovers a dead girl in an abandoned house. Casey, her team and her boyfriend Marine Patrol member Jericho, find a second dead girl on another floor of the house. This body has been mummified with salt, as the Egyptians used to. Soon they discover several more dead girls, all mummified, and all had been reported as missing. Racing to find who is responsible, Casey wonders if they will find her long ago kidnapped daughter among the bodies.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this read.
After a disappointing ending in book 3, book 4 hit it out of the park. Beginning a few months after the end of the previous book Casey and team are on the hunt for a serial killer. The growth in Casey that was lost in book 3, was found again in this book. Full of twists and turns, this was a great book that was non-stop till the end. The end twist is something I’d felt forshadowed in the previous book. Can’t wait for the next one in this series.

Detective Casey White is not the type of woman who enjoys doing nothing. Even after serious injury and being told to gradually increase what she does each day she still has to prove everyone wrong. Finishing her first successful five mile run since her her enforced layoff Casey finds evidence of a late night party at an abandoned beach house never guessing it will lead to investigations into an unexplained death and a possible serial killer.

With her place in her team now compromised Casey has to share the lead with Detective Cheryl Smithson someone she would rather disregard totally. Gradually however, as the horrific nature of the two cases are realised, the detectives know  they have to work together to discover the reasons behind the killings. Racing against the clock and the real threat of civil unrest they know there is every chance of more deaths becoming their reality.

This is the fourth Casey White novel and although the author has come up with an absolutely horrific means of killing his victims it is also a slower more measured look at Casey’s life. She is still searching for her lost child but B R Spangler has shown his main protagonist in a way that gives the reader hope for her future. Of  course, the rug could be pulled at any moment!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the crimes were original and the team working with Casey are gel solidly now, with all of them having vital parts to play. There is mention of previous cases as well as a cliffhanger of sorts at the end and I am delighted for the chance to enjoy this excellent series at least one more time .

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is an enjoyable addition to a very good series.

A truly great read perfect for the summer! It was a delight to read. The writing is impeccable and the characters were both well developed and interesting. Lots of nail biting suspense and tons of twists and turns kept me guessing until the very end. Highly recommend!!!

You'll Never Look At Ye Olden Ways The Same Again. This was my first book from Spangler, and is the 4th book in this particular series. It picks up seemingly some period of time after the events of Book 3, and immediately spoils some of the ending there. So if you have particular cares about such... start at Book 1 here and work your way here. As a police procedural / murder mystery of the book type series, this one actually works quite well and features a technique (used in a variety of ways) that will both creep you out and cause you to think twice about certain olden ways of doing certain things. What were y'all *really* up to, humanity of old???? Several different deaths drive the action here, and there is indeed quite a bit of action along with the mystery, including a pulse pounding race to... well, not quite the finale, but the effective end (+ some exposition) of that particular thread. And then another bit of action to resolve the other main thread before ending on a series explosion big enough that you're going to want the next book in your hands immediately. Very much recommended.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and B.R. for this amazing ebook copy!

For some crazy reason I have read book one, and three but have missed book two! Weird.
I don't know how I missed it.

But anyways the Casey White series has been such a damn good read!
The crime thriller series I have enjoyed them all but one.
I have a weak spot for lady detectives. I just love the stories.
The author pulls you in with the writing and his way of storytelling. I was intrigued and honestly I didn't want the books to end!
The build up was amazing. And the plot...... Fascinating!
This series will stay with me for awhile! And I can only hope B.R. keeps it up and continues the series. Because its been awesome reading them!

So thank you for the chance to read and review this wild, crazy, wonderful ebook.
I will post to Goodreads and Bookstagram closer to pub date!

I think everybody who has children knows they are not always sweet little angels, but even if they are behaving some parents still feel like they are not good enough and punishment is in order. Unfortunately it's not the kind of punishment where the child is not allowed to play his favorite game or watch his favorite tv show. No, here it's worse, much, much worse. One day it might blow up in your face and lives will be ruined..

Detective Casey and her team are dealing with not one but two cases at the same time. One seems rather easy to solve, until  isn't. Was it murder or an accident? Is the driving force behind it the green eyed monster or hate pure and simple? The second one makes the whole team gasp when a victim is discovered. They have never seen this before and the killer keeps them occupied. He is very clever, does not give them any useful clues to work with. He does leave something behind, but nobody seems to be able to decipher it at first.

It's true you cannot judge a book by its cover, but the same thing goes for people. It's not always the loudest or the most annoying one that is behind crimes. Sometimes it's the most kind and polite one who is the most damaged and does the most horrible things...

This is another very enjoyable book in a great series. 5 stars

Thank you
