I have not read any of the series prior to this one but I will be! I don't know how I missed so many books before this one! This is an awesome book!
Lisa Regan has done it again. When you open up to the first page of a book in the Detective Josie Quinn series, I can’t stop reading it. She takes murder and family dynamics to the nth degree. The level of suspense as you get sucked into the story is intense. The characters are so well developed and it’s nice being back with the regular cast in Denton, Pennsylvania. They are not perfect, but their work ethic and care for each other is touching. The story is unique and will have you searching for clues as you absorb the pages as fast as possible. What a great ending. You’ll be dizzy from all the twists and turns. But it’s worth the ride on this emotional roller coaster. I can’t wait to read about the next adventure with Josie, Noah, and the gang.

I am going to start with the formalities. I really can’t believe I have just read book 12 of this series. I also picked this book up without reading the blurb, I mean this is a Lisa Regan book! Finally, this might just be the most heartbreaking one yet. All of this is 100% true!
Ok, that’s done, now on to the review. I do love going in cold with one of Lisa’s books because I never know where we are going to go on our adventure. Also, when I picked up this book, I had temporarily forgotten what happened at the end of the last book. But the second I was with Josie everything came flooding back and I wanted to cry all over again. Josie, well she is struggling. She is lost and on leave from work. Everything has changed. Seeing this ‘new’ Josie, a Josie without a spark, who had lost her way (and understandably so)was hard to see.
The murder she has to investigate is one I found heartbreaking to read about. I guess anything with a child is hard to read about, and then to bear witness to the grieving parents left behind, well it’s not something I can or want to get my head around. I definitely gave my mini-me a tighter hug.
Another storyline to get your teeth into and leave you reeling. Another book that took a piece of my heart, engulfing me with grief. Another book that once you start you really can’t stop reading. I started it, and before I knew it I was halfway through. I have always loved the way Lisa writes her books. She brings her characters to life, I am so protective over Josie and Noah, that is down to her writing. Making me want to be there with them every step of the way.
This book has a different feel to it, yes it is intense and we have to know who the murderer is, but it was also a time for grief. I read that Lisa lost her dad whilst writing this book. You can feel her grief as if it was your own. Josie’s grief is our grief. I lost my dad and still after all this time I’m not over it. So yes whilst this is still a thrilling book and you want to find out the who, what and why. It is also a book to channel your grief and to remember that it will be ok.
In each book, I feel like I am part of the team and it is kept very much renewed. The stories are new and intense, yet the characters are growing with each new book. This is not the same Josie we met way back at the beginning. We have watched her grow, learn to love herself again and let people into her bubble.
I just can’t wait for the next book and to see what is in store for Josie next. Sunshine and happiness for a little bit, please
This one is tough for me to rate. Death of children is a difficult topic. I think that the author, Lisa, handled the overall subject matter with care.
Josie is back for a 12th book in the series. She's an amazing detective as ever. I do with her husband was in it more to see their relationship, however, that isn't the focus of this one.
Recommend to all mystery/thriller lovers but be aware of the triggers as this one has many.
I am loving this series and could not wait to read this next instalment. Such a gripping read which left my heart racing. Absolutely loved it!!
Lisa Regan does it again! Traveling to Denton as you open the pages of each novel is such a rush. Can’t wait to see where Josie’s work takes her next!
Woah this one was a ride! I really had no idea who the killer might be until near the very end. Definitely keeps you hooked in and it's a testament to Lisa Regan's writing that i'm still engaged at 12 books in!
Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is number 12 in the series but it can I wouldnt recommend it as a standalone. I recommend to read the others so that you can get to know the characters. Storyline is packed and the characters will keep you on your toes.
Another great addition to the series. I do recommend reading them in order though to understand all the characters pasts and how they’ve grown. In this book, Josie is still dealing with her grief from the last book. She is a lot more vulnerable but it’s actually made her seem more human. Parts of it are a very emotional read though.
With regards to the case, there are so many suspects and so many twists and turns that I kept changing my mind about who I thought it was. I had no idea. Considering there were so many people involved, once I got into a rhythm it was pretty easy to keep them straight.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This is the 12th book in this series, and they never fail to disappoint! It feels like coming back to see what old friends are going to face in the newest installment. I love the twists and turns of this book and all of the secret connections that are unwrapped as the book goes on!
It’s hard to believe that this is the twelfth book in the series featuring Detective Josie Quinn. Josie is struggling back at work after an enforced leave following the tragic death of her beloved grandmother four months previously. Two years ago there had been a terrible road accident involving a coach full of students. The coach crashed and five young students died. Now Josie and her team find themselves investigating the brutal murder of Krystal Duncan who was discovered posed at her daughter’s graveside. Her daughter was one of the students killed in the accident. Soon another one of the mothers goes missing and the only thing they can be linked to is a parent support group they all attend. The bus driver is about to go on trial for causing the deaths so Josie and the team begin to question all the other parents. Everyone is a suspect and all have their secrets. This is a tragically sad story and is based around Josie’s loss and the impact of it,it. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I have been thoroughly enjoying the Josie Quinn series thus far, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed with this latest installment.
We are reminded of Josie's past straight away, which is always helpful when reading a series, but I feel the background was rather brushed over and I found it difficult to remember the story.
As for the case this book is centred around, this one just didn't grab my attention as much as I expected or hoped for, and I wasn't as invested in the characters and could feel my interest waning more than usual.
I am in love with Josie Quinn.. there I've said it!
I honestly don't know how Lisa does it every single time.. this series just gets better and better with each new installment!
I think what I love most about this series is that with each new book the depth that we get to know Detective Josie Quinn and
This is a really complex tale that just draws you in, gets its teeth in and doesn't spit you out until the very last word.
After 4 months leave after the traumatic events that lead to the death of her beloved grandmother, you feel the raw emotion of pure grief and guilt that Josie feels whilst once again trying to solve a disturbing case that will leave you gasping and breathless at times.
I love the resilience, the strength and just how formidable Detective Josie Quinn truly is. The trauma and battles she has been through throughout the previous 11 installments ... yes 11... just makes her the perfect lead character.
Lisa Regan is a force to be reckoned with. Each new book feels fresh, extremely well executed, outstanding plots and THE best shocking twists!
The biggest thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
This is a great book. Unfortunately I had no idea it was the 12th book in a series and so I did feel a bit like I missed out on some of the character's back story.
Nonetheless, this is a well written and engrossing story. There are some difficult themes but it is a well written thriller.
Josie Quinn is back for her 12th book, and she just keeps moving forward.
That’s something that I notice in series that have this kind of longevity. Does the main character stay static, or do they continue to grow as a real-life person would?
And let me just say that I think either is okay. For example, books like Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Milhone are good. Kinsey is who she is – she doesn’t often have a personal arc, but it doesn’t matter; you know she is going to get the job done.
But if an author is going to create a realistic character and give them real-life problems to deal with, then they better show some growth and react to things like a normal person.
Josie Quinn definitely does that.
Fresh off the trauma she suffered, she is immediately thrust into another creepy case. This time (as you can read in the blurb) someone is killing off members of a support group. What makes it especially poignant (and particularly eerie) is that the group was made up of parents whose children died in a horrible school bus crash.
As with past books, there are multiple characters to follow, but I never felt confused – well, at least not too much. I thought the author did a good job of keeping the families of the children straight, especially as it was revealed that they each seemed to be hiding something.
One aspect I really like about the books in this series is that they read like episodes from a favorite television crime show. There is enough detail that I can easily visualize the action, but everything moves along at a good pace and doesn’t get bogged down.
My standard for books is to not give plot points away unless they’re already covered by the blurb (and my feelings on that are well-known to anyone who has read my reviews). That’s especially true of crime novels.
Suffice to say that once again, the author weaves a credible case with believable turns and switches. It’s very true to real-life investigations.
As mentioned above, I like how Josie continues to develop, and the end (with no spoilers) indicates that will continue to progress in the future.
I look forward to reading about it.
This is the twelfth installment of the Detective Josie Quinn series and they just keep getting better and better! I love this series and the series continue to expand on character development, it keeps readers involved, while still solving mysteries. This book also deals with grief as Josie is still dealing with what happened in book eleven, and this story followers her going back to work after taking time off. This case involves women's bodies who are found with wax in their mouth, and they are connected by the loss of their children in a terrible bus accident a few years prior. Josie is racing against time to figure out who is behind the killings and what their motive is.
I recommend reading the series in order as they character development is an arc throughout the whole series.

Josie Quinn has been on leave since the death of her beloved grandmother Lisette. On the day before she is due to return to work, she finds a woman's murdered body in the cemetery. The victim is the mother of a child killed in a bus crash and the driver is about to go on trial. Josie has the unpleasant task of investigating the lives of the other bereaved parents but they are in danger too...
Her Deadly Touch is the 12th book to feature Josie Quinn and her team. There are no spoilers about events in previous books except for the death of Lisette.
The grief described throughout the book is hugely emotional and made even more so by the author's note at the end. Survivors' guilt as well as the incessant 'what if' and 'if only' plays on the minds of many of the characters.
Josie has a vulnerability in this book that hasn't been so apparent in previous books. Her inner strength that has got her through previous intense situations has been shaken by her guilt. She appears much more human in this book as her emotions take control, however she is still determined to catch the killer.
The plot kept me guessing until the very end. The range of suspects are all credible culprits as secrets unravel and more murders ensue. Picking apart the lives of the crash victims' parents is tough work emotionally for Josie as she struggles with her own grief. There are plenty of twists and this allowed me to make lots of incorrect guesses about the killer and their motive.
Her Deadly Touch is an engaging and enthralling mystery although I was left with a feeling of overwhelming sadness (sign of a good writer when you care about the characters!)
Josie’s first case back after medical leave certainly throws her in at the deep end. A strange murder is connected to a bus crash that killed several children in the town and the parents of those children are either suspects or targets. Regan writes the most incredible, thrilling and unexpected stories and this is just that. There are so many twists and I marvel at her ability to elevate what is technically small town police procedural to such brilliant heights.
Absolutely love Josie, and loved this installment. Lisa Regan ticks all the boxes when looking for a thrilling detective book. I always look forward to the next one.
This is the twelfth book starting Detective Josie Quinn and her team. It follows directly on from book eleven. A local woman is reported missing and Josie needs to investigate. The missing woman Krystal Duncan has already had one tragedy in her life when a school bus crash killed five children, one of them Krystal’s. When Krystal is found murdered next to the grave of her child. Then a second parent goes missing the only thing that seems to link them is the support group that all attend.
Josie is investigating whilst still coming to terms with the trauma of losing her beloved grandmother.
I have loved every single instalment of these books and this no exception. Can’t wait for book thirteen.
