Josie Quinn ie back again book number 12!! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOKS 1 TO 11 THEN DO! Plus don't read read ky review as spoilers for previous books.
On the haunt for a missing woman Josie unfortunately finds her but she's dead. More people start to disappear. She thinks there must be a link espically as she was found on her daughters grave. As mire people go missing it's a race against the clock to find the killer.
As always you can expect a great investigation and Josie to be on top form and I wasn't let down. Josie is still grieving the loss of her gran and you definitely feel even as a reader it was interesting this book we spend very little time with Noah and I must admit I did miss him! Espically as they are nearly weds I had expected to have more of him in the book so I was a bit sad not to.
Josie as well as trying to find the bad guy is also refreshing herself with the case of the bud crash. It's written do well because the crash clearly was a very quick thing, yet we gets snippets of it throughout the story which really helps us build a picture of the killings. It was just great to read.
The investigation is very easy to follow and I loved the idea of 'what if' it was a really gr8 psychological question in regards to the crime itself. Was fascinating. It's a question we have all asked ourselves at least once in our lives so it was great to read a book which is centred around the questions.
Josie's personal journey is as always great to read. She is still feeling guilty about the death of her gran. So her continual time with her therapist is great as I quite like her as a character as well!
I am normally on the ball when it comes to finding the bad guy but I had no idea at all. I loved the usual twist and the story itself was just written so well. As always I loved the epilogue!!
All on all this wasn't my favourite book of the series but its still a sound 4 stars. As always its gripping and a fast read, I couldn't put it down!! I must admit I'm so excited for book number 13!
Thanks yo Netgalley, Bookature publishers and Lisa Regan for the digital advance copy of Her Deadly Touch in exchange for my fair and honest review. 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This series stays strong! Characters you feel you know and have grown with the series, complex and interesting mystery intertwined with personal stories that will keep you turning the page and regretting when it is over - waiting for the next one!
Her Deadly Touch – Lisa Regan
It’s been four months since Josie’s last case – a double murder on her wedding day, where her grandmother Lisette was killed in front of her. Josie is preparing to return to work after an extended suspension/leave, which has included visits with a psychologist as she struggles to come to terms with Lisette’s death. As she’s leaving her appointment, she turns on the radio to learn that a local woman is missing – one of the parents of a group of children killed in a school bus accident two years ago – interesting as the trial of the former bus driver is due to begin shortly. A quick detour to visit to her ex-husbands’ cemetery memorial leads to Josie stumbling upon the missing woman’s body – very obviously a homicide.
As the Denton PD responds to Josie’s call for help to secure the scene, Josie, Noah & Gretchen begin their investigation. The victim was a single parent who, other than attending group therapy sessions with the other grieving parents, isolated herself from everyone after the death of her daughter. So, who would want to kill her – and why?
As the team gathers background information, they learn that the families of the deceased children – and of the bus driver accused of killing them - all live in the same neighborhood with homes very close to one another. Interviews with each individual offer glimpses into the lives of the others, and the entanglements & secrets that existed between all of them. Shortly thereafter, another parent goes missing and is found dead, the circumstances eerily similar to the first murder. But who wants these parents dead? And why?
This book had a bit of a different, sadder flavor than those earlier in the series. Between the loss of Josie’s beloved Lisette, and the loss of the five children as a preface to this novel, it was much more somber read than usual, and a bit hard to see Josie struggle with her sorrow – but none-the-less, a good solid ‘whodunit’ from one of my most favorite authors!
I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy from #Netgalley & Bookouture in exchange for an objective review. (Blog will post 8/9)
Being 12th in the series these books are best read in order to fully appreciate the ongoing storyline.
Like the previous books this did not disappoint.
I felt that there were too many characters that detracted a little from the story.
Overall a good read and I’m looking forward to the next in the series
It feels like I keep repeating myself when it comes to this series, but there is no doubt that Detective Josie Quinn is one of my favorite detective thrillers series and one that never seems to let me down. I always feel a little giddy inside whenever a new Josie Quinn becomes available, and I have been even more desperate to get my hands on the newest sequel after what happened in the previous book. I'm going to keep this review short to avoid spoilers, but those who have read Hush Little Girl will know what I'm talking about. Her Deadly Touch is already book number twelve of a series that doesn't show any signs of slowing down. It's another winner to add to the list!
While Her Deadly Touch has a slightly different feel than some of the previous books because of the very present focus on grief, it is of the same high quality and Josie Quinn and the rest of the team have another intriguing case on their hands. Grief and dealing with the death of a loved one play a big role throughout the story though, both in the investigation and on a personal level. It was interesting to see the new developments and the emotions felt genuine. But like I said, it's not just about grief, as the team has more than one murder to solve that seems to be evolving around a tragic school bus accident two years ago. Every single character involved seems to be hiding something and there will be plenty of secrets, twists and turns to keep you busy while you try to guess who could be behind it all.
I liked the development of the plot and how Josie's personal developments were woven into the story in a natural way. The writing was just as engaging as always and kept me turning those pages chapter after chapter. I basically read most of the story in one sitting! No surprise here though, as the Detective Josie Quinn books seem to be known for grabbing you in its claws and not letting go until you reach that final page. Her Deadly Touch was highly addicting, entertaining, twisted as well as heartfelt, and without doubt a worthy addition to the series!
Her Deadly Touch (Detective Josie Quinn Book 12) by Lisa Regan Grief is the undercurrent in the 12th Josie Quinn series. Both Josie and Lisa have had to deal with heartbreaking losses and that sadness and grief is woven into the story. The detectives are drawn into a web of mysterious deaths, house break ins, stolen goods, and excution style killings all which seem to be tied into a school bus accident that left five children dead. There are quite a number of characters in the book but each of their stories come to a conclusion in the end. Another great addition to the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Her Deadly Touch is a solid, well written who-done-it. There is a jumble of characters in this one, which makes it a little difficult to keep straight. Enjoyed the storyline and that Josie is a detective who never gives up!
This is the first book I have read in this series and although no 12 I don't feel that I have missed anything so can be read as a standalone .Fast paced and thrilling with an explosive ending this was an excellent read. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Her Deadly Touch by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
The more books that I read in the Josie Quinn series the more I love her as a character and a kick ass woman. This is the twelfth book in the series and and it does not miss a beat in Josie’s life and the pain that she is dealing with after losing her beloved grandmother in the last book. I loved of Regan picks up from one book to the next and keeps the story flowing.
In this book Josie and her team are looking for someone who is trying to get revenge for the the death of children that where killed in a bus accident. Yes, the driver is behind bars but someone is looking for for payback beyond what the driver did. It is up to Josie and her team to figure out who is killing these mothers who have already suffered the loss of their children.
This book has all kinds of twist with each secret that is revealed about the parents of the accident victims. I can honestly say I kept changing my mind about who the killer was until the very end. I also loved the emotional journey Josie took in this book. It showed another side of this detective that seems to be cool and collected almost all of the time.
Her Deadly Touch gets five out of five stars from me.
It kills me to write this review as I love this series, but ... this latest Josie Quinn was just okay for me. I loved that Josie was working through her trauma. It was nice to see her vulnerable and not on top of her game the whole time.
What I didn't like, really, was the story. It was just average. For me, there seemed to be too much effort tying all the characters and their stories together for the outcome of the book.
That's okay - can't love them all. Lisa Regan and the Josie Quinn series is still one of my favs. I look forward to seeing a stronger Josie and case in the next book.
Thank ou #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.
This nail biting read sees Josie struggling to cope with the aftermath of the events of her wedding day. However, as much as she feels like curling up in a ball, there is a sadistic killer stalking parents whose children died in a terrible bus crash.. This author's characterisation is so strong that I found myself really feeling for these victims as well as worrying about Josie. This was another book that had me burning the midnight oil, I hope the next one will not be too far away.
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Stars
This is Josie Quinn #12. I have not read all the books in this series but did read [book: Breathe Your Last] and I was hooked!
Chapter one starts with school children Wallace, Bianca, and Frankie on the wall outside of school. They really don’t want to get on the school bus. The Principal comes and tells them to hurry along and get on the bus.
One student states.. But we were supposed to…
(Hmm… what?)
Josie has been out on suspension as well as bereavement. Her grandmother Lisette who basically raised Josie was murdered. Josie takes some non-police measures to find the murderer and thus gets herself suspended.
Lisette’s death is extremely hard on Josie. She only cases about her husband Noah and their little Boston terrier Trout. She has been in therapy and she knows she needs to get back to work.
The news is full of Krystal Duncan a young mother who is missing.
Krystal is found dead at the grave site of her little daughter Bianca. Yes! The apprehensive children plus two others in Chapter One died that evening in a bus crash driven by bus driver Virgil Lesko.
In addition to Krystal’s death another mom goes missing from the ‘West Denton Five’ and is found dead in almost the same circumstances.
At first I had a hard time keeping everyone clear in my mind - Here is a list of characters;
West Denton Five Families:
Bianca ~ Krystal Duncan
Wallace & Frankie ~ Nathan and Gloria Cammack
Gail ~ Dee and Miles Tenney ~
Nevin ~ Sebastian and Faye Palazzos’
Heidi Byrne survived the crash; she lives with her Dad, Corey. Heidi is adorable also a wealth of information to Josie
Another character is Ted Lesko son of Virgil.
These characters are all interesting character. But who did it?
Lisa Regan does not disappoint.
I always enjoy the author’s note! In this case the author’s note is “A Letter from Lisa”. She thanks us for reading her novel and then tells us that she tried to bring us a page-turner that will be nailing-biting entertainment.
Yep she did that! Looking forward to Josie and her next nail-biting case!
Lisa Regan also states that Josie’s grief is really her own. While writing this story her father passed suddenly. He was her rock!
Her ‘Acknowledgements are a story in itself!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for my professional opinion.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for August 14, 2021.
Another fantastic read from Lisa Regan. Detective Josie Quinn is in a dark depressive state after the death of her beloved grandmother. She is going to therapy but only showing superficial emotions. She is going back to work after a 4 month absence and is feeling unsure. The day before she is due to go back she comes across a murdered victim. The victim lost her daughter two years ago in a tragic bus accident that killed several children in the community. Josie is drawn into the investigation which has many parallels to her grandmother's death with the emotions and "if only" that everyone feels. Lisa Regan as usual weaves a wonderful thriller. Well written characters and you will be surprised at the end as to who the killer actually is in the community. Highly recommend. Once you read one Josie Quinn novel you will be reading them all.
I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher for my honest review.
Number 12 in the Josie Quinn series.
Josie is consumed with grief after losing her grandmother in a shooting incident in the last case. She's just returning to work after being suspended because of that case. She's immediately flung head first into their latest murder case.
Lisa Regan is an absolute genius of an author. I can guarantee a fantastic psychological read from page one. Lisa never lets her readers down.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for allowing me to read this Arc.
Another cracking read from Lisa Regan in the Josie Quinn series and Josie’ is trying to come to terms with the events of the last book and on her first day back faces into the latest spate of murders. The plot is as twisty and gripping as the other books in the series.
Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series is just one of those series...es where I blindly request without even bothering to read the plot summary. I can do that later, babe--I just gotta get the new book. And like the books in the series before it, it gave me that good book serontonin boost.
A big thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this for my honest opinion.
If you have not read the Josie Quinn books by Lisa Regan, friend, you are missing out. I am a lover of crime mystery and this is the 12th Josie Quinn book I have read and Lisa Regan still makes my crime loving heart so happy with another page turner!
Josie is still recovering from a devastating loss. Her grief is still overwhelming to her and now she is returning back to work, with her heart not quite ready yet. But, murder awaits for no person. As Josie is trying to come to some terms with her grief, she stumbles upon a murder victim that has been found by another grieving mother. This throws Josie right back into her job even though she is not fully ready. Gretchen, Noah, Mettner and even the chief all help Josie deal with her grief and left her up to help her do her job. This book has twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages to uncover the secrets and find the killer as well as deal with her personal loss.
Amazing writing. Amazing story. Josie Quinn is as good in book 12 as she was in book 1..
Two years ago Krystal Duncan lost her only child in a school bus accident. Five children, all friends and living at the end of the route, didn't make it home, devastating their families and changing countless lives forever. Now the body of one of the bereaved mothers has been found dead but is it linked?
It's been four months since Detective Josie Quinn suffered the loss of one of the most important people in her life and things aren't getting any easier. Suspended ever since by her boss she's even tried taking up crochet to help her relax and pass the time at home! Now however, work is calling, a murder, shocking in its execution, in the victim’s identity and link to their own unbearable tragedy has the team shocked at what they discover.
As secrets gradually emerge about those parents still grieving their loss Josie Quinn and her team have to try to find out what unfolded over the vital hours before the Denton bus crash. To even begin to investigate why tragedy has once again struck families still reeling from their losses Denton PD will have to return to the beginning and reevaluate everything.
Josie is still traumatised and struggling while the action this time around is muted but compelling. The main protagonists are all present with Josie and Gretchen taking centre stage and owning this twelfth book in the series. There is no eureka moment, instead Ms Regan shows how everyday routines can result in devastation if even one thing is changed without warning by those set on revenge. The investigation is woven around Josie's personal loss and the impact on her. It is expertly handled and the storyline although heartbreaking is engaging and is easy to read in just one or two sittings.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a slightly different Josie Quinn book but none the worse for that and is highly recommended.
Wow! This book pulled my heartstrings in every possible direction! The feelings of grief described by the author are so strong and real that I actually felt them too.
There is a lot of pain in this story. Not only for Josie but also for the other characters. It always hard when you loose someone but when you are filled with guilt it's even a lot harder. You are always stuck with that 'what if' or 'if only' feeling and that's really killing you. Life goes on though and you have to learn and give your pain a place. Of course it takes time. A lot of time.
Accidents happen all the time. The person responsible is caught but that's only a small consolation. The pain remains and it does not bring your loved one back. Little by little lies are discovered and it seems everything was not just black and white. There were a lot of shades of grey in between...
This book had a different feel to it, but just like the rest of the series, it's amazing once again. It makes you think about life and about enjoying it as much as you can surrounded by family and friends. 5 stars
Thank you
I have to start off by saying Mrs. Regan is at the top of her game in this book!! Not only in terms of the mystery/ suspense aspect, but also in terms of emotionally challenged characters. Mrs Regan handles both beautifully, creating an absolute winner!! In Her Deadly Touch, we find Josie dealing with the emotions of losing Lissette while dealing with a new case. In this new case Josie finds Krystal Duncan posed dead by her daughter's grave, who tragically died in a school bus crash 2 years ago. On closer inspection Josie finds wax in Krystal's mouth. Is this connected to the bus crash or something else,.. This leads to another awesome edge of your seat, mystery filled ride to it's stunning conclusion!! I highly recommend this book, and this whole series is amazing!!!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.
