Book #3 in the Detective Kay Sharpe series. Each book could easily be read as a stand alone.
AS Detective Sharp and her partner, Detective Elliot Young are tasked to investigate the murder of a young widow, they will discover the crime is much more than it seems. A 16yr old girl has been kidnapped and her younger sisters traumatized. The detectives will gather information from many sources but none of it will make sense. Everyone seems to be hiding something. This police procedural thriller hits all the right notes to make a thriller lover happy. The story moves quickly with plenty of clues to keep you guessing right up to the reveal.
I have been in a reading slump for a while, and this was the first book I laid my hands on to try and break it, and I totally devoured it in one sitting, and couldn't wait to read number 2. The second one was even better, and now, having finished book number 4 in the series, I only have one question - why isn't there a book 5 yet???
The series features detective Kay Sharpe, and even though she is just human, she tries to be there for everyone, and solve every one's problems. The books were really well written, and honestly, I haven't read something so thrilling, gripping and entertaining in a very long time. This series is highly recommended, I promise you, just do it!
I will post this same review on all 4 books, as this is really applicable to all.

Reading Between the Wines book review #73/135 for 2022:
Rating: 3 ½ 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: The Angel Creek Girls, Detective Kay Sharp Book 3
Author: Leslie Wolfe
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
Available now!
Sipping thoughts: Detective Kay Sharpe is back for Book 3 trying to solve the mystery of a murder and kidnapping. In true Det. Sharpe fashion, she stops at nothing to solve the mystery. This storyline gives a weird, eerie, mental health feel to it. I really enjoyed the mystery and Kay’s quest for justice and love for herself. I can’t wait to see what she is up to in Book 4. Will she finally pull the trigger on love? I hope so!
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @TheAngelCreekGirls.

This book had a great plot and it had me turning the pages . The ending was superb and even though this is number 3 in the series, I still had no trouble following what was going on.
The Angel Creek Girls is a riveting new installment to the Kay Sharp series. The characters both recurring & pivotal to this story were amazing. The case was so very complex that kept me guessing till the very end. The chilling nature of the crimes committed were hair raising but seemed so realistic. If you make it till the end don't forget to read the note from the author on what inspired the plot. The plot is unique & goes from being a normal case to a major investigation just like that! I was surprised when despite the impact Kay never invited her old team from the FBI to give her a hand! That would've been interesting to see. Kay as as a character is so great! Reading her parts were the best! However when it comes to Elliott l, although I was impressed in the previous books with his mysterious character, this book bought a major letdown when he thought of a possibly schizophrenic patient as a "Whackjob" and "crazier than a bullbat". It was highly disappointing to see those words used for a character who seemed to have some problems with mental health. Regardless of whether they were on team good or team bad, the author in my opinion should've been a little more careful in choosing the words. This is the only reason the book is 3 stars. Otherwise the plot is amazing & the characters (except for Elliott) are great!
This is book 3 in the Kay Sharp series and man what a wild ride. I was definitely not prepared for the grand reveal and the motive behind it. The chapters from the killers POV and Julie’s POV really helped amp up the tension and it had me hooked until the very dramatic end. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the will they wont they thing between Kay and Elliot. I’m kinda over the 2 adults clearly like each other but refuse to communicate trope. That being said I hope we get to see more of this duo because I’m really enjoying the series.
I receieved a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This was a nice addition to the series. Full of mystery and suspense and great characters. I'm enjoying reading this series.
This is a great series and it got better with this book. I was gripped from the start and loved every page. Thank you . Looking forward to reading more
This is Book #3 of the Detective Kay Sharp series. This could be read as a standalone as there are no spoilers about the other books, but I recommend starting at Book #1. I really devoured the other two books but I gotta say, this one wasn’t my favorite. Maybe it was just my mindset while reading but I felt like it was slow-burning suspense and it took a while for the action to pick up.
Overall, this was a very intriguing mystery, with many twists and turns! There were a couple of different POVs, one of which included the killer's POV! That always adds a little bit more suspense in my opinion!
The last thing I was lacking was the character relationship development between Kay and Elliot. I need more than just hinting that they are into each other! Give me some steamy romance scenes! I know a lot of people don't like romantic suspense but I feel like the book is insinuating towards that romantic relationship, so I wanted more, especially after three books. Hopefully, the next one delivers. I'm still a huge fan and will keep reading this series!
Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book via NetGalley. As usual, my reviews are my honest and unbiased opinions.
Detective Kay Sharp's latest case is a murder and kidnapping. Her only witnesses are two girls under the age of 10. She is suspicious that the victim's family and neighbours are acting oddly, but are they capable of such a wicked crime...?
The Angel Creek Girls is the third book to featue former FBI profiler Kay Sharp. I have previously reviewed the first two books in the series: The Girl From Silent Lake and Beneath Blackwater River.
The case itself is highly emotional and we witness the murder and kidnap in the opening chapter. The book is written in the third person with the majority of focus upon Kay and her investigation. We do get some chapters from the killer's perspective and from kidnapped Julie: this ramps up the tension as we anticipate a further death...
Kay needs to use her psychology skills to encourage the two young girls to provide evidence and clues to the motive and identity of the killer. This puts her at odds with her chief as well as the family who gain legal backing to regain control of the girls.
Kay and Elliot's romance doesn't move forwards much as their entire focus is on the case. Personal considerations do not feature much in the book as Kay is determined to find the killer and save Julie if possible. Her focus is upon her psychology skills and this results in a dramatic ending as Kay refuses to give up on finding Julie alive.
The Angel Creek Girls is an enjoyable and entertaining crime thriller and I hope for more personal aspects for Kay in the next book.
This book starts with a confronting scene that had me hooked from the start.
Very well written story with lots of plots and had me hooked. Tense action packed story that left me wanting more.
The Angel Creek Girls is a very well written thriller. Great plot and character dynamics. Kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this book.
Detective Sharp is back! This case begins on a cold, rainy night. Cheryl is home with her 3 daughters. Something is wrong though. She wants to escape but didn’t manage to do so before the rain and dark. The cold, wet night ends with 1 daughter missing and Cheryl stabbed to death.
I have always liked the setting for this series. There is something ominous about Mount Chester. It’s a place ripe with legends, family secrets and small-town gossip with enough drama. In this case, there are rumors of the super natural. A first-born daughters legend hovers like a dark cloud on the case. Kay has to rely on her detective skills, evidence and good instincts to figure out what exactly is going on amidst all the rumors and legends.
I have always enjoyed the characters in this series. I am not usually a fan of romance but I am intrigued by the direction that Kay and Elliot’s relationship is taking. I like that it wasn’t insta-love and feelings have been kept aside at work. They both are great characters though. It might be interesting to see them get together as long as it doesn’t change the work dynamics because they are such a great team.
This is an interesting case. It’s the kind of case that will have you guessing from the first to the last chapter. What happened to Cheryl? Who took Julie? Why did certain events take place? Are there spirits in Mount Chester? I was surprised by the reveal and the dramatic ending. What a great installment to a great series! I can’t wait to find out what lies ahead for this team.
Third in the series featuring detective Kay Sharpe, works as a standalone but better if you know the back story. Full of twists and turns this story moved quickly and scarily, secrets must be uncovered before we discover all.
AWESOME third installment of the Kay Sharpe series which are all well written with great characters & lots of suspense to keep you guessing throughout. Leslie is a new author for me & I really enjoy all books in this series. RECOMMEND all totally & eagerly await her next installment. Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC in return for my honest review.
‘The Angel Creek Girls’ by Leslie Wolfe is the third novel to feature Detective Kay Sharp of the fictional Mount Chester, Northern California Police Department. It can be read as a standalone easily.
Kay is called out to a murder scene and finds a woman dead on the floor with her young daughter curled up against her. At first, they think the child is dead also but luckily she is alive and just not willing to let her mum go.
As she searches the house Kay finds her sister upstairs and understands the girls will need careful handling with what they seem to have witnessed. It soon becomes clear that their older teenage sister is missing. Kay and her partner Elliot are on the case to try to find her. As they investigate Kay learns of a strange local legend about first daughters being taken and discovers many cases of kidnappings and disappearances similar to the one they are investigating in the present day going back more than fifty years. This leads to a truly upsetting discovery that breaks your heart.
A story that is dark and disturbing, with hidden secrets that are eye-opening. The twists are placed just right to make an impact. I have read the books in this series and it is a series that keeps the mystery and intrigue along with the pace right up there.
Another great instalment featuring Detective Kay Sharp and I am looking forward to her next outing.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my place on the tour and the gifted copy of the book.
Now, here's and author that always steals my sleep!!! I am so glad I didn't have anything planned for the next day!!! The Angel Creek Girls by Leslie Wolfe is the third book in the Detective Kay Sharp series and what another cracking read this book was. Leslie's books have all been written that will have you gripped from the very first few pages. They are loaded with great twists and turns throughout, this book was so addictive It kept me up all night and I did not want it to end. This is the best book in this series so far. Looking forward to the next book.
I highly recommend this Detective Kay Sharp series they have been excellent!
Big thank you to the author Lesley Wolfe, Bookouture and Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily.
Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the third book in the Detective Kay Sharp series but all books can be read as standalones.
This case was a weird one. It always astounds me how some serial killers go unnoticed for so long. I think as a Brit it's harder for me to understand the vastness of America and the technology needed to notice the patterns over such a large area.
I liked the different POVs and the chapter titles. If you are a regular reader of my reviews then you know that this is a feature I always love.
The story was tense from beginning to end. I think the weather really helped to add to the tension. I always find I want to hide away from the world when there are storms or torrential rain.
Leslie does an excellent job of keeping you guessing from the beginning. There is lots of action for those that enjoy that but also a lot of twists and turns.
This was a thrilling ride and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Detective Sharp.
A mothers love knows no bounds.
I was drawn to this book as I have read the previous two books in the series which I enjoyed so reading book three was a no brainer for me and it didn't disappoint.
This book is set in two time lines the past and the present which adds depth to the story and told from, various points of view.
Great character assignation with a vivid description and detail throughout and a depth of research seem in the police procedural writing.
A tense compelling read action packed and full of drama another great addition to this compelling series.
The Angel Creek Girls (Detective Kay Sharp Book 3) by Leslie Wolfe
📓Genre: Mystery | Thriller | Suspense
Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
🔖 This book is the first I've read from this author. With this being the third in the series, I'm sure I've missed out some information about the primary characters, specially the protagonist, Detective Kay Sharp. But even as a standalone novel, I had no problem connecting with the story.
🔖The case presented has two gruesome sides – one of murder of a widowed mom, Cheryl Coleman, and the other being the abduction of her eldest daughter, Julie.
🔖With the primary witnesses being two shocked minors (Cheryl's younger daughters), Sharp realizes catching the perpetrator will be immensely challenging to say the least.
🔖The sinister air of suspense that hangs through out the story is really well-crafted and the twisty tale is full of shocking surprises.
🔖I particularly liked Kay Sharp. She is a brave, intelligent and dedicated officer – a character that very efficiently shoulders the responsibility of being the protagonist.
🔖Having really enjoyed this mystery, I'll surely look forward to the next by the author.
🔸Final Verdict: Good
🔸Book Cover: Does justice to the genre
🔸Writing Style: Intriguing
🔸Character Development: Good
