Three women cross paths at a neighborhood party. There's the expectant mother, who is hosting a gender reveal in an attempt to make connections with her new neighbors. There's the social influencer, and there's her new neighbor who might be a little too anxious to build a friendship between them.
It's an somewhat entertaining read. The chapters alternate between the three women and more than once I found myself flipping back to double check whose part of the story I was reading. Spoiler -- everyone in this book is a liar. They've all got secrets to hide. The ending was abrupt and a little unsatisfying, but I don't regret reading through to get there.
What an AMAZING BOOK!!!!!! The first few chapters were a little slow. However, as the book progressed, the suspense increased. This mystery/thriller/suspense has many twists I did not see coming. The plot of this book was very meticulously thought out, I'm in awe. I definitely recommend this book!!!
I'd like to thank Netgalley for the Advanced Reader's Copy I received in exchange for an honest review.
I just reviewed The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh. #TheLiarNextDoor #NetGalley
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy!!!
3 neighbors, Frankie, Celeste and Saylor. Frankie, a social media star with a perfect life. Celeste, single mother running away from her past. Saylor, pregnant and newly married. All have something in common.
Ladies and gentlemen the lies, secrets and deceit in this book!!! Told mostly in Frankie’s past and present POV but you also get Celeste and Saylor. I didn’t know how these 3 were connected until the very end! The author slowly reveals the secrets. I loved the writing style and the slow build up. Very well done!!!!
Sooo many secrets between sooo many people. This book introduced so many characters and it was pretty slow until the last part of the story. There at the end, wow….hang on to your hats! Fast-paced and twisty! It was, overall, an enjoyable read.
The Liar Next Door is fast-paced with a plot full of twists. The story centres around three very strong and relatable female characters whose lives and secrets are weaved together, although they don’t know it until it is too late. I really warmed to Frankie and sympathised with her but found Celeste and Saylor less likeable and was suspicious of their motives from the outset.
Easy to follow and well written, The Liar Next Door was enjoyable to read and despite finding it predictable in parts, there were still some surprises along the way.
Thanks to Netgalley for this review copy in exchange for an honest review.
This story rotates around three women. Frankie is a lifestyle vlogger and lived in Hambridge height along with her husband Andre and daughter Luna. Celeste and Saylor just moved into the neighbourhood. Celeste is a single mother who lived with her daughter, Violette. Saylor and Lloyd are a few months pregnant, Saylor immediately threw a gender reveal party to bond with new neighbours. They all meet each other there.
Frankie is a woman who can't trust people even her husband. Celeste is a helicopter mom who is willing to do anything for her daughter. Saylor is running from her past and her husband is unaware of many secrets. Each of them is hiding some dark secrets and they got ways to justify their actions.
The story is told from all three women's POVs. But Frankie got more storytime, her story is told from past and present. I didn't find Saylor's character important and she felt like the third wheel. I like the pace of the story and writing style. But I wasn't a fan of mystery. I had my doubts half through the books and they turned out true so it didn't shock me. Many secrets and twists felt non-realistic and over the top so I wasn't invested. It just felt too much.

This is my first time of reading a book by this author and it defiantly will not be the last, two new most to a expensive new neighbour
Move into a small estate of elusive houses they have a small green which is often referred to as the park where everyone goes as a meeting point to share special news. Everyone e takes a plate of something over and share everything. Frankie who runs her own vlogg where she comes across as if her life is just prefect when it could be nothing as near to the truth had she had hoped, she feels she as to constantly be on the watch because Andre had an affair not long I go the marriage which Frankie could not understand. However Andre actually told Frankie about it because of his guilt and the marriage almost ended because of it . The two new strangers both ha e come carrying secrets but no one knows yet Cellest there only and her little girl called Violet the other neighbours Graham and Shollla who were the instigated of this little part as it was a baby sex reveal party. Ce!lets watching Frankie she could not help that Cellest saw Frankie eyes raise to the ceiling ..... To which Cellest played to her advantage when Cellest let slip these reveals party was not really her thing she had been to do many and how they !let there appeal Frankie had been host to do many that she herself was feeling pretty much the same.so after the 2 Giles meet accidentally Cellest was over the moon it's just what she wanted the 2 girls to become such good friends as there was mainly all boys Frankie called Luna she went to see her mum she introduced Luna to her daughter's violet yet we just met only briefly as I was killing the weedie just a game they play Frankie explained suddenly both girls can off together when Frankie went to sit at the table were Andre was sitting Frankie got round to introductions this is Cellest every o one she pointed to shallo and Graham who Frankie explained the they had not moved in !long on and Euston everyone. They pointed a few people out but as Frankie was saying it's us in the main if you look we all get on it some better with others .who knows we only let shallo and Graham tagged along with us as we had been frinds with Edgar as Helen the previous tenants. Frankie started to talk with Andre but each time Cellest some Andre all but dismissed her Frankie was wondering what was going of e kiss it's not the Andre she knew so both excused themselves taking a bottle of wine e with them. When Cellest said her ruddy could be a bit like that.Frankie said I take it it's ruddy you've come to hide from Cellest said yes but it's difficult for children to understand. When Frankie got back home after the party she asked Andre what was a matter with him being g so rude to.he just said I would not trust her which came as quite a shock to Frankie so she said of is there something else about this . Is this another one of your play things Frankie knows she's should stop but when she got !one this she never did Andre screams at her am I never going to be let off for one infection I told you for God's sake it makes me so we why I did you keep on and I. And on when you came back from your ,3 day break you said that was the last of it now coming in closer she shines I do keep trying Andre I do keep trying. Was this. Her own guilt eating away at her because when she arrived ed at the beach house will her ex husband was there which is pretty much as she expected he made her a drink !I stand to every thing in a nob!and situation and as he pointed out to Frankie she would not have been any wiser but it broke him and risked his marriage to tell you she was lying on the bed when will being down to miss her she stopped him he said as he got up off the bed you tell me to go and I will go but Frankie knew what she wanted to do after having g spent the second day together she aske.d will to leave she did want some thinking time...........now unless you want spoilers which I am not prepared to do the kids the secrets that Cellest had that Frankie didn't know not yet shallo the secrets she as on he group how they al! Come back together in so.d say is brilliantly written and told you are all over trying to guess who's got secrets and who frl. It's a rollercoaster off a ride and one you will.not expect how much of a ride you will be going I and one you never will.forget. Oh believe me it well worth the for me a fantastic book I could not recommend more to you. It's a must read it
“We live in a close-knit community. Thirty houses surrounding a square of garden that is perfect for our kids. We congregate here on major holidays, each family bringing a plate and sharing food and conversation. It’s in the garden that I first met her. The woman who would worm her way into my family and piece by piece tear it apart…”
The author focuses on three women in Hambridge Heights and shares the story from their points of view, both past and present. Frankie, Celeste and Saylor forge a friendship united in secrets and motherhood. They’re each flawed, unlikeable and armed with a hidden agenda.
In addition to peppering it with plenty of unforeseen twists, Marsh has written a fast-paced plot which means that readers need to pay attention to chapter titles carefully. With a community of 30 homes, essentially a community of liars, readers won’t know which of the three neighbours is lying. With a carefully curated façade, these women have worked hard at keeping up appearances and readers will be forced to look for holes in the story. Who has the big secret? Who should have called the police sooner? Who could have prevented what happened?
Yes, it’s predictable in parts and there are even some pretty unbelievable parts, BUT it’s such a great story with a plethora of red herring. I held my breath and sighed in relief with the fantastic thrill. I did not predict the ending presented in the last few chapters.
Celeste is a little like a relative on my husband’s side …. Asking questions is o.k. as long as she’s the one asking! I think we all know someone like that!
Welcome to Hambridge Heights. Bet you can’t tell which one of us is the liar next door!

I was gifted this advance copy by Nicola Marsh, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I knew from the blurb I would enjoy this one and it didn’t disappoint! Lots of twists and guessing throughout. A good solid storyline that kept my attention.
The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh Gordian knot of a tale, never quite sure which neighbor is the liar, Frankie, Celeste or Saylor, until the very end. Still surprised at how all the secrets and lies were knotted together and unraveled in the end. Fast paced story and characterizations were perfect. Highly recommended.
Thank you to Nicola Marsh, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Three women, Frankie, Celeste and Saylor live in the same cul-de-sac. They all have secrets. Francie is a vlogger who creates a perfect life but is all as it appears? Celeste, a single mum, what is she hiding from her past? And Saylor, who is pregnant with her first child, gets a shock when she realises an ex boyfriend lives across the street.
This is a great book, full of twists and turns. Just when I thought I'd sussed out the story it became a red herring.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
This was a great read, kept me guessing the whole book. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, there was another twist.
The book tells the story of three neighbors, each with secrets from their pasts. Their lives become intertwined in more ways than they ever expected. Lots of secrets, lies, some jealousy, and a whole lot of twists and turns.
Hard to say too much without giving things away.
Another awesome read by Nicola Marsh. Her books never disappoint, and this was one of my favorites.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a fast-paced read with good twists. It centers on neighbors Frankie, Celeste, and Saylor, who forge a relationship initiated at a neighborhood barbeque. Each woman has secrets and some of those secrets hit closer to home for the rest of the group as more details are revealed. The book switches between the POV of each of the women.
The story moved at a fast clip and there were more than a few twists that surprised me. On the other hand, I didn't particularly like any of the 3 women and I thought that some of the things that happened were extremely implausible. That being said, I enjoyed the way that the author weaved the storylines together in unexpected ways, and found myself engaged the entire way through.
Overall, interesting and fast-paced read that will make you have to suspend your disbelief, but while on a wild ride! This is not the first book I have read by this author and will also not be the last. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh My!!! “The Liar Next Door” is a first time by Nicola Marsh a new author to this reader. I rarely ready a lot of mystery and thrillers but am opening myself up this year to quite a few. This book by far was so good I definitely did not want to put it down. The plot was done very well and the characters where so interesting that I could see this situation played out on a television drama or movie. The story is of Frankie, Celeste, and Saylor who all become acquainted with each other at a neighborhood get together. All are mothers or soon to be and at some point, create a bond. The underlying factor is that all of them have secrets including their spouses, significant others, and exes. After delving myself into this story, you can say that the characters are quite messy and have some character flaws that just don’t go away. There are one-night stands, secret affairs, and possible children born from these relationships. One thing for sure, what is always hidden in the dark will all come to light. Little by little the secrets unfold and what I thought was definite turned into a surprise ending that I never knew was coming.
I totally enjoyed this story and the twists, turns and mystery entangled into this wonderful plot. As I have never read anything by this author before, it won’t be my last If her other books have the same type of caliber. Nicely well-written and highly recommended to read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC for my fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
I received this advanced copy from Bookouture via Netgally in exchange for a honest review.
This is such a good read I was hooked after the first chapter. The story is told from the POV of 3 characters Frankie, Celeste and Saylor. They live in a small neighbourhood and are a close knit community but they are all keeping secrets. As it turns out there is a lot of secrets.
Usually when reading multiple POV’s I become more invested in some characters then others but not this book the author has made each character interesting and so secretive that it leaves the reader wanting to know more.
This is the perfect summer read and complete page turner packed with suspense definitely one for fans of B.A Paris and Liane Moriarty.
My only complaint with this book is the chapters are short quickly jumping from various POV’s and timelines so you need to pay close attention to the headings.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Liar Next Door. This was a riveting read. The plot was very fast moving, Saylors big reveal was annoying each chapter Before it was revealed at the end, that was the only downfall of the book, too much repeating about Saylors secret. There were a few Wow moments but all in all just a good novel. I love Nicola Marsh’s books, thank you again.
Overall, The Liar Next Door was a fast and entertaining read. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and how the lives of the characters intertwined from the first chapter. The book revolves around a few families who live in a close-knit neighborhood and who are all hiding dark secrets. For me, Frankie was the most relatable character, which made reading her chapters the most enjoyable. I particularly liked the constant comparisons between her real life and the life she displays for her job. While I was able to predict the major twists, I still found myself not wanting to put the book down.
It is a perfectly beautiful neighborhood. The people next door share dinners, barbeques, holiday celebrations, and a nice park that sits in the midst of lovely homes. It sounds perfect, except for the secrets. When a new neighbor moves in alarm bells go off for one of the residents. She has her own secrets but has a sense that something is not right with her new neighbor Celeste. Their young daughters, the same age become playmates and Celeste becomes part of the neighborhood. She worries that her husband Andre, who admitted a one-night stand after their marriage is attracted to her. Andre says she makes him uncomfortable too. Why then is she causing this uncomfortable feeling? Then there is the handsome fellow who is house sitting and his pregnant friend married to a minister. There are secrets and more secrets but the truth is elusive until it isn't. A good story with a surprise ending. Thanks to #TheLiarNextDoor#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
The writing itself was solid, and the story was nicely detailed. However, I had a hard time staying engaged, and some parts just felt too unrealistic. I never really connected with, or even liked, the characters. There were a few unexpected twists. There were a lot of secrets, but I just found this to be "meh."
I went into this knowing I shouldn't trust anyone I read about. If only that were enough. I shouldn't have trusted and then thrown everything said out the window. The twists in this book gave me whiplash! It was a blast!
