I am still shocked by the ending. The plot of this book is a masterpiece, and the construction of the characters was flawless. The story is told from the perspectives of three characters: Frankie, Celeste, and Saylor, the first two are mothers, and the latter is expecting. At first glance, they seemed to have a normal life; however, they all have something to hide, and even all the husbands/partners/exes have secrets. The relationships between the characters are messy, to say the least. There are revelations made from start to finish, which I cannot believe that I did not guess any of them. If you like books/tv shows like Big Little Lies, you will love this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture, I had the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow!! Just wow!!… This book is brilliant! More than brilliant, amazing!!!… Absolutely gripping, addictive and captivating… I was absolutely hooked from the first page to the last. I had a complete shock at the twists… Love, love, loved all the characters!!!…A massive five stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After having read other domestic suspense novels by this author, I thought I knew what to expect. Nicola Marsh, however, had other plans. She takes the typical twists and turns that you would expect, then swings them around over your head and throws them against the wall. Marsh expertly weaves multiple complicated relationships and makes them even more shockingly twisted. The hits keep coming up until the very last word. I very highly recommend this book.
Secrets and lies abound in this fairly tame domestic thriller, making it a guessing game from the very beginning.
Lifestyle vlogger Frankie Forbes may present a confident, cheerful front to her viewers on camera everyday, but off camera she is a lonely introvert. So when two new neighbours, Celeste Reagan and Saylor Abernathy join her close-knit neighbourhood community, guarded and hesitant Frankie manages to strike up a tentative friendship with them. Single mom Celeste and soon-to-be mom Saylor have their own respective agendas in moving to Hambridge Heights. When all is said and done, it waits to be seen who among the three women emerge unscathed from the impending mess created by the string of lies.
The plot started off at a slow pace, alternatively introducing the three characters. The author makes no attempts to hide the fact that each of these women are flawed characters who are trying to forge the best possible life out of the bad choices and impulsive decisions they have taken. The pace picks up at 75% and rushes to a quick wrap-up which I found a bit jarring.
Overall, an enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I found The Liar Next Door mediocre. Though the writing was smooth, and the descriptions adequate with detail, but not too much, the plot was really implausible and I guess most of it nearly immediately.
You won’t like any of the characters, but you will probably want to keep reading because the writing is smooth and you’ll want to see if your guess about the plot is incorrect. There are a few things I was shocked by.
I hope to read more of Ms. Marsh’s work. As an author, she seems to have a lot of potential!
This is the third book I have read by Nicola Marsh and I loved it! I thought at first it was going to be one of those novels with so many characters and it would be hard to keep track who was who. That was not the case! Alternating between a few characters each chapter, the book was well written and kept me guessing. I'd figured out part of the story but the other twists came as a real shock! Looking forward to reading more from Marsh. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
Nicola Marsh has done it again! I’ve become a huge fan of her domestic thrillers and this was another great one. This book is full of suspense, drama, lies, scandal and revenge. It takes place in a small, close knit neighborhood where three of the neighbors have huge secrets that are all interconnected. I guessed one of those secrets but was very surprised to find out why. The others kept me guessing until the end! I have to say I really didn’t like any of the main characters. But it didn’t stop me from being interested enough to find out their secrets. It may have even made it better. I highly recommend you check this one out. It may make you wonder what secrets some of your neighbors may be keeping.
Thank you netgalley and Bookouture for an early copy in exchange for my review.
Frankie, Celeste and Saylor all have secrets to hide. But how are they connected? Nicola Marsh takes us on a twisting turning adventure in suburbia as we find out.
I enjoyed this book! It was a bit formulaic in places and I definitely guessed one of the main plot points pretty early on, but none of this dampened my enjoyment. The author writes interesting characters in an interesting way and I was really keen to see how the story would pan out! It’s a great beach read and I’m sure it will do well.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this book.
This felt like a ya mystery and I felt old reading this one. I would have enjoyed this maybe in my teens. The beginning felt repetitive each chapter ending with each character bluntly saying they are hiding something. It all just felt… blah… There wasn’t any rush for me to flip through the pages and find out what is going on. Each character had a secret that had obviously to do with one another and unfortunately I just didn’t enjoy this one.
Thank you to netgalley and bookouture for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
When you read a book like this, you *know* the relationships are going to get messy. But this one? It gets messy in very unexpected ways!
I was so involved with our three women: their friendships, their relationships and their secrets. I knew that there were all sort of hidden things going on and, while I was right about a couple of them, some took me completely by surprise.
Now, I’ll admit that most of the men in this book are…special. But one of them ended up being surprisingly awesome. Our women? Imperfect though all of them were – I loved them.
A surprisingly suspenseful beach read with secrets that just keep coming. Thoroughly enjoyed this!

Another secrets in the suburbs suspense book? Yes please, if it’s written by Nicola Marsh. Three women living on the same street tell the story through their own chapters and we know that each one has an explosive secret that can devastate another neighbor. Thoroughly readable novel with readily accessible characters and half the fun is trying to figure out who will do what to whom and when. Nicola Marsh beats all your assumptions and guesses with her typical trademark twists and turns.
So I knew there was definitely something dodgy about all the main characters in this book, Frankie, Celeste and Saylor, they are all hiding secrets. The good things about this book, is you think you've worked out what's going on and you're almost right, but then the author doesn't as much give you a huge twist, it's more like subtle tweaks and you go, 'of course!'
Told mainly from Frankie's POV the three main characters are either mum's or about to become one and I suppose the underlying theme is about protecting your child. So although these characters aren't particularly likeable, especially Frankie with her fake online 'perfect' life...I suppose the relatable bit is what would you do to do the right thing for your child.
Really enjoyed this red, thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this is my honest opinion
What a tangled mess these relationships are?
The story alternates between Frankie, Celeste, and Saylor. Each woman is hiding some pretty big secrets that they’re desperate to keep hidden. The relationships are twisted abs disturbing, with two precious little girls on the middle. Some twists are easy to see coming but others will be a shock!

Note: I received and advanced copy of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley.
We live in a close-knit community. Thirty houses surrounding a square of garden that is perfect for our kids. We congregate here on major holidays, each family bringing a plate and sharing food and conversation. It’s in the garden that I first met her. The woman who would worm her way into my family and piece by piece tear it apart…
This book takes the perspective of three different women, all with secrets that they all want to stay hidden. I liked reading through each women's back story and perspective on the current situation they were in. I also enjoyed the fact that I was not able to discover beforehand all the secrets that were revealed.
Secrets, Lies And Subterfuge….
Secrets, lies and subterfuge in this compelling domestic suspense. With a realistic setting, a well drawn, credible cast of characters and an engaging storyline with twists and surprises that the reader may not see coming, this is compulsive reading.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc. I really enjoyed this book! It was a fast and easy read and kept me reading to find what the secrets every had were. I didn't love any of the characters, but the story was good. This was the perfect Summer read for me.
I read this in one sitting, I couldn’t put down ‘The Liar Next Door’. The characters are realistic, people you can imagine going through these motions. You can picture them as your neighbors, colleagues and friends. The outcome was somehow predictable but how you get there is a wild, twisting, ride rife with shocking turn of events. Nicola Marsh kick ass again.
Frankie lives with her husband and 5 year old daughter in a close-knit community where everyone congregates on major holidays. When she finds out they have two sets of new neighbours, she soon starts to get to know both of the new women. Celeste seems keen to get her daughter and Frankie's daughter Luna to be best friends, and at times Frankie is suspicious about Celeste's motives. Could Celeste be interested in Frankie's husband Andre? Or is she just lonely being a single parent? It soon becomes clear that everyone has their own secrets and the lies being told may ruin many people's lives...
This is the first book by Nicola Marsh I have read and I loved it! I really liked the style of writing and how the chapters alternate between the different women and also between past and present. The plot was exciting and tense, full of secrets, lies and shocks, and it all leads towards an exciting and satisfying ending. Definitely recommend this book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
When I was approved for this book I truly did not know what to expect, since Nicola Marsh is a new author for me. Well again with a new author I was pleasantly surprised. This book had so many twists and turns that I could not put it down, I need to know how it ended. A small tight community in Brooklyn that celebrated holidays in the park which brought everyone together. Meeting new neighbors was something that also brought everyone together but this small community was hiding many secrets. Andre and Frankie showing everyone what a perfect couple they are. With a perfect child Luna and Frankie and her perfect on line blog with many many followers. Yet is she really the perfect person she shows her followers. Then there is Saylor and Lloyd, new to the neighborhood. Saylor is trying to fit in especially since she is pregnant and wants to fit in, but can she. Then there is Celeste a single mom who doesn't let anyone ask questions unless she in the one asking. Then Ruston the handsome photographer, model. The only one not living in this neighborhood is Walt how does he fit in this circle of neighbors? Everyone is hiding something but what? Ms Marsh created characters that makes you want to find out everything about them. As you keep reading you find how these lives implode and I was really surprised by the ending. Can these characters mend their ways and forgive each other or do we turn a blind eye to all their lies? It makes you wonder if we could just move on once the truth comes out. My only complaint with this book is it could have been a little shorter. The characters were interesting and I wanted to get to the end to tie up the mystery. Other than that I loved it . I will be checking out Ms. Marsh"s other books for sure. Thank You Netgalley, Bookoture for this book. . Will recommend to my fellow readers.
I loved this book. What a thrill ride for excitement, twists and turns! The characters were so interesting and the plot really dynamic. The end was one of the most satisfying. I enjoyed this book immensely.
