This is a very good domestic thriller. Loved the character sketches and the plot. I had an inkling from the beginning that somehow the characters are linked and it did play out that way. The author very smartly linked the characters which was amazing. The only complaint I have is, it was very long. It could have been excellent with few less character talkings.
Overall a good book and I read a good domestic thriller after a long time. It gave me Desperate Housewives vibes π
I found this book good but nothing amazing. I liked the whole idea behind it and it grabbed me from the start. Unfortunately it was quite slow and repetitive. I enjoyed the ending but did struggle a bit to get there.

Itβs in the garden where I first meet her. The woman who would worm her way into our family and piece by piece tear it apart. She seemed perfect but I should have known something was wrong. An excellent thriller by USA TODAY bestselling and award-winning Australian author Nicola Marsh who writes feel-good fictionβ¦with a twist! I enjoyed this read a lot. There were just enough characters to not overwhelm and confuse. So many fantastic lies within this group of strangers that were shockingly revealed beautifully at the ending. Great job Nicola will definitely be looking into more of your work!

5 stars for certain, was the first book Iβve read by Nicola Marsh and will definitely not be the last. This book gripped me throughout, was an easy read, with twists and turns along the way. Was a perfect choice for my holiday read
This story focuses on a neighborhood, and specifically, 3 women in the neighborhood: Frankie, Celeste, and Saylor. Frankie Forbes, a vlogger is married to Andre and together, they have a 5 year old daughter. Saylor, is currently pregnant, and excited to meet her new neighbors. Celeste, seems to have the most secrets, as she arrives with few belongings, and a 5 year old daughter, Violette. Celeste seems very interested in getting to know Frankie and her daughter. But, is this because of Frankieβs public reviews of products or activities? Is it because Violette really needs a friend? This book was an interesting read that kept me going throughout the entire story. I enjoyed learning more about each of the characters and wondering how/why they were interconnected. The story started slow, but quickly picked up steam. This story had a bunch of twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would read more from this author. πBOOK REVIEWπ
The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh - Bookouture - Publication Date - 23rd Aug 2021
This basis of this story revolved around one street and the people that stay there. They have. Large garden area in the middle, that they use for get together events.
The story starts with introducing us the the neighbour characters and further into the story, we realise there is more connecting them to each other.
I did enjoy this book but it was a bit of a slow burner for me. I did like some of the characters though and good unexpected revelations!!
Thanks #netgalley #bookouture
The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh begins with Francesca, aka Frankie, and her perfect life. At the outset, her life with her husband, Andre, daughter, Luna, and her successful vlog career appears perfect. Once the audience manages to peek through the many layers of perfection, at the core, none of it is perfect. Andre had cheated on her, and although she took him back, in her heart, she is unable to trust him completely. With that suspicion lurking inside, the cost of keeping a flawless front for the world is taking a toll on her. Unaware of her internal conflicts and turmoil, her new neighbor, a single mother named Celeste, envies Frankie for her lifestyle. For the sake of her daughter, however, she attempts to bond with Frankie. It's crucial for her that her daughter, Vi, forms a connection with Luna. Nevertheless, when Frankie learns about Celeste's dark past, she finds herself conflicted about allowing this friendship to blossom. Unbeknownst to both of them, another scandal is on the brink of revealing itself. Their neighbor, Saylor, both married and pregnant, is finding herself in a very peculiar situation. As much as she loves her husband, she cannot deny the strong feelings she has for one of her neighbors. One thing is common amongst them all: none of them seem to trust Celeste completely.
Nicola Marsh has woven a tale of delicious scandal, complicated marriages, complex human emotions, and the joys of parenthood. Behind these embellishments, however, lies a twisted thriller. Everything from the engaging dialogues to intriguing narration with gripping twists ensures that the reader remains hooked to the story. The author provided the audience enough motivation to keep looking. Whether it was Celeste's dubious behavior or Saylor's mysterious blackmailer, there was just the right amount of drama to keep the pages flying. The joy of reading the thriller could have increased by manifold if the suspense was concealed more conscientiously, making it harder to guess. Even so, The Liar Next Door is a fast-paced thriller that will make it almost impossible for the readers to put it down.
Ahh, this is a good unβ! Edgy, creepy, twists, secrets, nosy neighbours the whole lot!
The Liar Next Door focuses on 3 friends who all live in the same cul-de-sac. Frankie, Celeste and Saylor, and itβs told from their point of view. I think the characters are very engaging, the plot is brilliant and you honestly wonβt know the truth from the lies! Itβs one of those twisty thrillers you think you know, but you donβt! Itβs intense! I loved it!
The blurb is good and you might be thinking itβs a missing child thriller, but itβs more than that. You are taken on a ride of deception, adultery, exes, greed, resentment, and blackmail. Frankie is a lifestyle vlogger with the so-called picture-perfect life, Saylor is expecting her first baby and Celeste is a single mum running from the past. You are in for a treat reading how their lives intertwine!
Highly recommended!
I love twisted thrillers. I love stories when you need to take a deep breath and think about what exactly happened cause it's hard to believe that action can go in such a direction. I adore books that can surprise me what it's not so easy when taking into account how many various books I'm reading. And let me say it straight - The Lair Next Door is insane. Insane, but perfect for a warm autumn evening.
Nice neighborhood with a dark secret. Perfect lives, perfect kids, perfect marriages. But none of it is the truth. Bunch of strangers who know a little too much, a lot of dark secrets which can ruin whole families and determination to follow the plan to achieve their goals. None of them are going to play fair.
That book is a total cliff-hanger. Hypnotizing, disturbing. You will never look the same at your neighbor after reading this.
The action is quick and even though, there were a lot of characters and all of them have their dilemma, I don't feel smitten. Excellent writing and a well-planned plot are something that I would truly appreciated.
One disadvantage? I expected a little bit stronger action in the end. The final was... just ok. Surpising, not expected, but still - I hoped to get fireworks, not just a flames.
The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh
This book is mostly about three neighbours who live in the same complex; Frankie who moved there five years ago with her husband Andre and daughter Luna, Celeste who just moved in with her daughter Violette and Saylor who moved in two weeks ago with her husband Lloyd and is five months pregnant. This book is written from all three perspectives and they all have a secret they will do anything to keep hidden.
I Loved this book! As soon as I got to chapter four, I was sucked into the story and did not want to stop reading.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
As a romance reader and reviewer, I don't consider myself experienced enough to critique a thriller. But when one of your favorite authors releases a book in that very genre, you read it anyway.
The Liar Next Door follows the story of three women Frankie, Celest, and Saylor, and the secrets and lies within their close-knit neighborhood. Although labeled a thriller, it read more like a drama. It didn't give me the suspense, anxiety, anticipation, and excitement that I would expect from this genre.
Although slow to get into the juicy stuff, I'm glad I continued reading because there were elements of the ending that were a surprise and not what I was expecting. But one plot point that stood out for me involved Celeste, Frankie, and an ex-husband. The climax involving these three characters lacked oomph. **SPOILER** I had so many unanswered questions about the murder. It felt brushed over.
As per usual, I can't fault the author's writing. She is and always will be one of my fav's.
Thank you, Bookouture and NetGalley, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love Nicola Marsh's books. However, The Liar Next Door was just "good" for me.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about this book, a story of an influencer, her 2 new neighbours and a whole lot of drama. I felt this book was more "family drama" than thriller. As I was reading it felt a little chaotic, but came together well in the end.
I still recommend picking this up and any way you shake it, I am looking forward to reading her next book!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of The Liar Next Door.
What an exciting read with a twist I was not expecting. I loved this book as I couldnβt guess the ending so will be on the lookout for more by this author. If you like the girl on the train type of thrillers then this will be right up your street.
Frankie and Andre Forbes have moved from Manhattan into a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn. They have a daughter, Luna, 5. Frankie is a lifestyle vlogger with many followers and Andre works for a graphic design business.
New neighbors, Saylor and Lloyd are having a gender reveal party in the park area of their development as a way to meet everyone. There, Frankie meets her new next door neighbor, single mom, Celeste Reagan and her daughter, Violette, 5. Luna and Violette immediately bond and have fun playing together.
As these people all get to know one another, they are hiding secrets some of which could be devastating to their neighbors.
This is certainly a twisted novel that kept me guessing right up to the end. Thereβs lots of infidelity, jealousy, guilt, blackmail, and even kidnapping. I liked how the author threw out some clue here and there that make me think hard to figure out what she meant, but I did not solve all of them. Well done, Nicola Marsh. I enjoyed this book very much.

The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh is a well-crafted domestic suspense novel.
The book follows 3 women: Frankie, Celeste and Saylor, who live in the same close-knit community, and unravel, little by little, the secrets of one another.
The story was well done as regards to the plot: full of twists and surprises right to the very end.
I had a hard time relating to the characters, and often felt like yelling at them rather than simpathizing.
But that might have just been my blunt side rebelling against their blatant dishonesty.
A few swear words were used, which I personally didn't think was necessary, and would have preferred weren't, but of course, I respect the author's choice in this matter, and not my own preferences.
Overall though, this book was pretty good. The plot really carried the story and made this a good reading experience.
I would recommend it to domestic suspense or psychological thriller fans, most of whom I'm sure will not be bothered by my reservations.

Yβall. Who doesnβt love @nicolamarshauthor her writing *chefs kiss* seriously. Any time I want a great read. A fast read. A book I know Iβll get lost in and be π€― mind blown at the ending. She is one of my go-toβs. If you havenβt picked up one of her books π what are you waiting for!?! Imagine living in a small neighborhood. A newly pregnant neighbor invites everyone for a gender reveal party. But. These neighbors while it seems are strangers are actually a lot closer than some might even think. This story is woven with so many plot twists and oh my gosh moments that you will be lost from start to finish. The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh was another cracking read. I found it so hard to put down and everything I had planned for that day went out of the window!!! This book is about three women, who have a lot going on in their lives. They're neighbours who drawn together but, there's lots of smiles at each other.........but, every false smile there's a big secret and lies that are covering up their secrets.
Secrets and lies can not be hidden they will come out sooner or later!
This book is full of great big twists and turns that had me shouting out aloud and on the edge of my seat!!!
This is another brilliant book by Nicole and I highly recommend all her books, You will not be disappointed!
Big thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Three new neighbors have something in common, and they share more than just an address.
Frankie is an Instagram celebrity. But once the camera lights are off, she struggles with insecurity and marital problems. Her new neighbors are single mom Celeste and a mommy-to-be Saylor. In need of privacy and unwanted attention, Celeste moves into the closed community under the shade of the night. Also, she has an unnatural obsession with Frankie's daughter. And now Saylor, young mother to be who obsessively throws neighborhood gatherings. At the first glance - it's a typical community, but our three neighbors are connected by a web of secrets.
The novel has started well, I was into the book, but the more I read, the plot turned into a telenovela. Instead of the mystery, I was met with lots and lots of relationship drama. In addition, there were many loose ends that either didn't make any sense or were simply overdone at the end. For example, Walter and Ronals, have been portraited as completely opposite characters, they just had no connection. And the reason behind Saylor's move into the community was, in my opinion - excessive. While this is not my cup of tea, I still would like to give an author a credit for perfectly tying all the strings at the end. It was a pretty remarkable situation all the characters found themselves in. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture publisher for a free and advanced copy of the novel.
Three women, neighbours in an upmarket Brooklyn square.
Three secrets.
Three liars...but which secret will come out first? Which lie will blow up all of their outwardly perfect-seeming lives?
Frankie, Celeste and Saylor all get space to tell their stories here, as the chapters are told from alternating points of view rotating around the three of them. I canβt say I found any of them particularly likable - without giving away who did what, two of them have cheated on their husbands and the third is pushy and judgmental. Itβs not until very late in the book that we understand one of them has already stepped over some hard lines, including killing someone (possibly accidentally - itβs not entirely clear) and covering up the death. Sheβs clearly not operating with a full deck, because she takes actions that are illogical when her lie is exposed ahead of her planned timetable. She cannot possibly have hoped to get away with it; Iβm interested as to what exactly she did plan, because we never do really find out.
A lot of domestic thrillers go for the βone more twistβ right at the very end, and this one does too, BUT, this one gets it right. Too many of the βone more twistsβ invalidate everything that came before; this one doesnβt. It just adds an extra layer to one of the protagonists.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. While the real threat doesnβt emerge until later on, looking back there was a great air of gently creeping menace which slowly built as layers of secrets were revealed. Five stars for a great domestic thriller I didnβt want to put down.
So many stories. So many lies. Frankie, Celeste and Saylor are neighbors. New neighbors. An accident or planned event? Their lives seem to be crossing over. Each has something to hide. I kept trying to figure it out. At the end, I only had one correct guess. Who to believe?
Thanks to NetGalley for a fantastic book to choose. Nicola Marsh is great.
