When Frankie arrived home on her eighteenth birthday, she wasn’t expecting the sight in front of her. She also wasn’t expecting the revelations her mother gave her when she told her what she’d seen. The birthday party had already been arranged so Frankie tolerated it – but it was the meeting of Walter which changed her life. Escaping from home at eighteen hadn’t been in her thoughts until earlier that day, but Walter was willing to take her with him. Her parents didn’t agree but couldn’t stop her…
Around ten years later, Frankie was married to Andre and with five-year-old Luna they felt their lives were complete. But Frankie, while she loved Andre, wasn’t quite sure she could trust him. When Saylor and Lloyd had moved next door, Frankie and Andre had been surprised to receive an invitation to their gender reveal party with Saylor five months pregnant. It wasn’t their thing, but they would go to support them. When another woman arrived, who introduced herself as Celeste and her five-year-old daughter Vivienne, and she lived on the other side of Frankie and Andre, they felt an uneasy vibe around her. But gradually they all became friends.
Secrets surrounded all three families – even secrets kept from their husbands/wives. Luna and Vi became instant best friends (as only children can do) and Celeste was happy about it. She did her best to involve herself in both Frankie’s and Saylor’s lives, even while it made the women uncomfortable. But more was to happen – much more.
The Liar Next Door by Aussie author Nicola Marsh was a convoluted and deeply involved story which became confusing at times. With Frankie’s story there is a ‘then’ and ‘now’ section as we move through the story; the other women were in the ‘now’. Mystery, intrigue, betrayal and loss were part of The Liar Next Door, and although I didn’t enjoy this one as much as My Sister's Husband, I can still recommend it.
With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
How many secrets can one neighbourhood have? Seriously! This book had me on the edge of my seat and page turning quicker than ever. The short chapters added to the tension as each chapter was written from the point of view of the 3 main characters.
Frankie and husband Andre appear to have the perfect marriage with their daughter Luna. The chapters fluctuate between her past and the present day to build up a vision of her life and how she got to where she is.
Neighbours on one side, Saylor and Lloyd are more recently married, not long moved in and are expecting a baby.
The neighbour on the other side is a single mum, just moved in yesterday (when the story begins).
Throw in a handsome guy across the street, secrets in every household, adultery, deception, resentment and a touch of blackmail, then this just about sums up this rollercoaster thriller which was difficult to put down!
I was trying to guess the plot (as usual) but wasn’t expecting the reveals or the ending at all.
I’ve never read anything by this author before but will definitely read more from her.
Many thanks to netgalley, the publishers and the author for an arc.
‘I don’t make friends easily. I never have.’
Picture this: a close-knit neighbourhood, with thirty houses surrounding a garden square. Welcome to Vintage Circle in Hambridge Heights, Brooklyn. A perfect space for children and for neighbourhood gatherings, such as a baby shower. This story is centred around three women: Frankie; Celeste and Saylor, and their stories unfold in alternate chapters. Frankie and Saylor are married, Celeste has left her partner. Saylor is pregnant (it is her baby shower that draws the three women together); Frankie and Andre have a five-year-old daughter, Luna; and Celeste has five-year-old Violette. Each of the adults has secrets from those closest to them, and some of those secrets will prove dangerous.
‘So many secrets in this little neighbourhood of ours. So many lies.’
Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for a fast-paced story with several improbable twists. Ms Marsh has peopled her novel with (to me at least) thoroughly unlikeable characters for whom blackmail, deception, and resentment are primary motivators. Such lovely people! While there is certainly suspense and there are some elements of surprise, I found I did not care enough about most of the characters to care about how it would end. And yet I could not stop reading because I wanted to know. If you enjoy the drama of soap opera, then you may well enjoy this novel.
Note: My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book for review purposes.

Wow, you have to read The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh. It grabbed my attention from the prologue to the very end with another extreme twist was revealed. It read like the fiction that it is but also read entirely believable. Not sure I want to live anywhere near any of these characters.
I have no idea what I was in for with this book since this was the first book by Nicola Marsh I remember reading. Complex, complicated, extremely intertwined subplots and totally riveting.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was an interesting book, I found myself drawn into it immediately. I loved the author’s writing with the different stories of the main characters. I would definitely recommend this book!
Somehow this book managed to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This book is the definition of things are not always as they seem, and the twists and turns will come out of no where. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book for an honest review.
This book had me thinking, re-thinking and re-thinking again, it is a compelling read that I found hard to put down three woman, neighbours drawn together through lies and secrets that ends in a shocking twist that had me on the edge of my seat, a must read, one to get the mind moving in this domestic thriller suspense.
Frankie Forbes, married to Andre they have one daughter five year old Luna, Frankie is a popular lifestyle vlogger always looks great everything seems to be perfect in their family, or is it? They love living in this close knit community surrounding the garden.
Saylor, married to Lloyd for nine months and five months pregnant with their first child, they have just moved there and seem eager to meet the neighbours and this starts with a gender revel party in the garden, but is all as it seems for this couple?
Celeste newly arrived in the neighbourhood, single mother with a five year old daughter Violette she is very keen to become friends with Frankie and for their daughters to become the best of friends, she seems very helpful and maybe over-friendly are there other motives involved?
These three woman have a lot going on in their lives, minds, are they linked in some sort of way or has fate bought them together? You really need to pick this one up there are so many twists and turns I truly had no idea what was going on but the pull to keep reading and find out was something that was hard to ignore, even when I had to put it down my mind was thinking about Frankie, Saylor and Celeste.
This is a fabulous book that I highly recommend, Nicola Marsh has pulled this story together so well, I loved how everything slowly pulled together bit by bit, lie by lie and the secrets, thank you MS Marsh for another unputdownable read.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy to read.
TLND by Nicola Marsh, published by Bookouture, is a stand-alone novel.
Frankie moved from the big city to a close knit community. And then in the blink of an eye everything changes and she's trapped in a nightmare without escape it seems.
TLND is a mystery/thriller, complex, raw and gritty, well written, unputdownable. A slow burn thriller, a great read, 4,5 stars.
This is blurbed as a ‘daughter missing’ book but it is so so much more and in fact that part of the story only really accounts for the last 10% or so
It’s what leads up to it that had me transfixed, you know by now I LOVE a street/neighbours ‘do’ book and this has so many offshoots on this theme it’s to the authors credit it was kept together and worked so well
New neighbours, old secrets, past indiscretions, new dalliances, jealousy, street parties it’s all here with ( dare I use this word ) twist after twist after twist, and they really do keep coming and fast and good as well
I also liked the foray into being a Pastor’s ( Vicars ) kid re one of the characters, something I know a lot about but is rarely in books
All round great exciting read, kept me hooked, interested and surprised at most turns

The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh is a domestic thriller. Told from the points of view of several female characters, it twists and turns. It is a well written book and moves along seamlessly. It is a great casual read for vacation or relaxation.
Wow! I read this in 1 sitting and couldn't put it down.
Frankie is married and they have a daughter. He had cheated a few years ago but she forgave him. Now they are becoming friends with their neighbors and there is a gender reveal party for the couple next door that starts the book off. We find out Frankie had been married before, to walter and they talk once a year.
Celeste just moved into the neighborhood and is eager to be friends with Frankie and have her daughter and Frankie's daughter be best friends.
As we get to know all of these people you are wondering who do you trust. Are they who they seem to be. We know there is some blackmailing going on as well.
Things are not always as they seem and the ending, just wow.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC to review.
This is what suspense and intrigue should read like. OMG, what a story. The characters, the plot, and the setting all combined to give the perfect reading experience. Now I've read Nicola Marsh novels before, but this one grabbed my attention just by its blurb. It did not disappoint.
I took some time to get into the novel, but as the plot tightened and the characters came out on the page, the suspense increased. All those conflict points that and plot twists that the reader just does not anticipate. Whoo child, so good.
Just goes to show how far people are willing to go to protect the family.
I loved the main characters and while the men were awesome, one was definitely a standout.
Ten glorious stars.
The Liar Next Door by Nicola Marsh is a page-turner. Told in two timelines and from three different points of view, it gives us a glimpse into the lives of three women living in one seemingly perfect neighbourhood.
It's a domestic suspense thriller, but so much more than that. Love and betrayal, friendships, relationships, parenthood - it's all there for the reader to soak in.
Oh I loved this book I spent ages trying to work out how the four households were interlinked and the ending was brilliant. I just read this in one session as I had to know more.
I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.
I received this arc through net galley in exchange for an honest review.
We meet Frankie, Celeste and Saylor who are neighbours.
We hear their stories through the book with chapters from all their view points and discover their secrets.
I raced through this book and couldn’t wait to find out the ending which was unexpected.
Nicola Marsh has totally done it again, honestly! I've read a couple of her domestic thrillers now, and each time, she pulls me in with the storyline, all the twists and turns, and I am blown away by the ending!
The Liar Next Door was no different.
Three women living as neighbours in a lovely neighbourhood become tentative friends, knowing no one else there.
They each have their own secrets, and reasons for moving from previous locations, but some are more sinister than others.
But, which one is lying?
All three characters have issues of their own, from paternity secrets to infidelities, and the way their stories end up weaved together is nothing short of genius. You have a married mum of one, who is a famous influencer, a young, newly married, pregnant woman and a single mum, apparently fleeing from some danger.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and can't wait for another!

I really enjoyed this book, I had so many suspicions from the beginning but they changed throughout the book and I never guessed the true ending!
This was a book filled with secrets and lies with no way of knowing which secrets were going to destroy and which secrets would go unknown.
I definitely recommend to thriller fans - so many twists and turns and you literally suspect EVERYONE as EVERYONE has secrets in this story!
Mixed feelings about this book - it was a good, twisted thriller that initially sucked me in. However, after reading half the book and each chapter ending with some variation of “wait until they find out my secret”, it got a little old. I started to lose interest, because there was a ton of build up, with not a whole lot happening. I found myself quickly reading a chapter or two, and then getting bored because I still knew nothing. Thankfully it did eventually pick up. I was able to figure a lot of it out, but there were still some surprises.
I thought it was a good book, but could have been better. The climax of the book was really good - it just took a little too long to get there. I did like the author’s style and will probably try another of her books.

I found this book very difficult to get into with three different POVs and going back and forth in time. Also, several events seemed too contrived but all in all, I did enjoy it especially the final reveals
A difficult book to review really.
Fairly easy to read and not one of those books were you feel like giving up. But...
The plot was fairly predictable, and SO repetitive. Every chapter seemed to end in 'if they knew my secret' etc.
The only surprise in the whole plot was in one of the minor plot lines when you find out who is blackmailing Saylor. Everything else is fairly easy to predict.
