What an intense and thrilling end to the Atlee Pine series. I hate for it to end because I enjoyed getting to know Atlee and admired her dedication in finding her sister, Mercy. There are the typical Baldacci twists and turns that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Seeing the sisters in action and how tough they are will have you cheering them on. I strongly encourage you to start with the first book in the series. You won’t regret the journey you experience as you travel with Atlee in her single-minded focus to find her twin sister.

Atlee Pine and her boss Caroline Blum once again work together to find Atlee's twin sister, Mercy, after she was abducted 20 years ago. Finally Baldacci gives his readers closure to this story and it was well worth waiting for!
Baldacci delivered again. Fast paced novel that filled in the gaps of his other book and the quest to find twin Mercy that was kidnapped.
A compelling addition to the Atlee Pine series. David Baldacci continues to prove why he is a best-selling author by putting out excellent titles and not letting series flag.

This is the fourth and possibly last in the series. I haven’t heard for sure. I hope it is not but if not I am sure Baldacci will start a new series which will be just as good.
In this one we get to the conclusion as to what happened to Mercy, who is Atlee’s twin who went missing when they were 6 years old. And as always the storyline is great and gives us a satisfying conclusion to the story.
Baldacci is one of the best in the genre. He always gives us a run of twists and turns with a storyline that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.
Another great book and series from Baldacci.

Atlee and her assistant Carol are still trying to find her sister. They follow leads around the southeastern United States and get caught up in a whole new situation that eventually ends up okay. Highly recommend!
FBI Agent Atlee Pine’s twin sister was abducted when they were six years old, and Altee has never stopped searching for her. Since the last book Atlee has been on leave from the Bureau, with their blessing and resources, to follow up on the crucial leads she’s found. With the help of her trusty assistant Carol Blum, they’re finally getting somewhere!
I read the book in one 24-hour period because I had to know how it all turned out! It was a harrowing journey at times, and painful to read in spots as what happened to Mercy is recounted. The story was action packed and boy were there some tough situations, but just when I thought Atlee was backed into a corner she couldn’t get out of, she came out fighting!
Mercy is the fourth book in the Atlee Pine series and I’m so happy to finally have all the answers and closure! It was a satisfying conclusion to a thrilling series. Total recommend!
"Mercy" Atlee Pine Book 4
by David Baldacci
I love this series!!!! FBI agent, Atlee Pine, has searched for her missing sister, Mercy, her whole life. There is action and adventure and I was kept on the edge of my seat.
Great read!
This was a fast read and it was definitely packed full of action, but felt like it suffered from having a few too many things going on.
What I liked:
✅ Multiple POVs
✅ Return of my favorite character Carol Blum
✅ Satisfying conclusion to the 4 book series that wrapped up all of the loose ends
✅ Great action and fighting scenes
✅ A new strong female character who I’d love to see a spin off from
What didn’t work for me:
❌ Pace would slow down, especially noticeable with the many flashback scenes from multiple characters
❌ The super villain was very far fetched and somewhat random to the plot. Think Bond villain.
❌ Completely implausible how things worked out
❌ Extensive abuse scenes were hard to read
It was a quick read for me and entertaining, but not my favorite in the series. 3.5/5⭐️
Thanks to @NetGalley and @GrandCentralPub for providing me with a copy of this book.
David Baldacci fans (and who isn’t?) will welcome the fourth installment in the fascinating Atlee Pine series, Mercy. Atlee has been searching for her sister who was kidnapped on the night she was left for dead, and thinks she is finally getting close. This is one series that should be read in order to get the full effect of the novel.
Baldacci is one of the most popular thriller writers today, and is in the top ten bestselling authors with good reason. Most thriller aficionados have been following his excellent series for years, and his Atlee Pine series is definitely one to pick up. Baldacci is a brilliant storyteller, and this series is one that not only keeps readers on the edge of their seats, but is well-written and easy to follow. Developing his characters is one of Baldacci’s areas of expertise, and readers already love Atlee Pine and want to get to know and love her sister, Mercy, although there is some doubt whether Mercy is actually still alive after all the years since the kidnapping.
Baldacci’s style includes plenty of intrigue and building suspense. Atlee and her supporting characters are put in danger at every turn, and sometimes readers will wonder if it is all for naught.
Baldacci has masterfully put together another installment of the series, and hopefully there are more to come. Atlee is a unique character and will prove to be a favorite among Baldacci thriller fans. This novel is highly recommended, especially for those who have read the previous novels in the series.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I am a huge David Baldacci fan. I must admit, however, that the Atlee Pine series is not my favorite. Atlee Pine is a FBI agent on a quest to find her sister and find out answers to the mystery in her background. They are good mysteries, full of suspence, but a little too much angst and not enough pleasantness for me. I do recommend this book to Baldacci and mystery fans because even a four star read is well worth the effort. I will continue to read this series and look forward to the next Baldacci publication.
Atlee has been searching for her twin sister, Mercy, ever since Mercy was abducted when the girls were six years old. Now, more than 20 years later, Atlee has made this search her primary focus, even taking leave from her job with the FBI to do so. Learning that Mercy is likely to still be alive gives Atlee hope, and she pursues one lead after another, each of which leads her closer to her sister – and into more and more danger.
This is the fourth – and apparently the last – in the Atlee Pine series, and I have enjoyed each book along the way. Once I started reading, it was hard to put any of them down, and this book was no exception. I admire Atlee's dogged stubbornness to find her sister no matter the cost, but Mercy's determination to survive against all odds are even more astounding. It's appalling to realize that many of the things these girls went through are based on fact rather than fiction.
The story over the course of the four books was very well-written, with constant twists and turns so that the reader had no clue what to expect next. Most of the recurring characters are people I would like to have as friends and in my corner should the need ever arise. I know the Mercy storyline has run its course, but I would love to read more books featuring Atlee and Carol.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Mercy by David Baldacci
Baldacci scores again. I enjoy his books and this was no exception unless it was even better. Atlee Pine is a formidable FBI agent with the strength and skills to compete mentally and physically with her male counterparts. I like that Baldacci is aware that misogyny has not disappeared and that there are still entirely too many men who have an unfortunate superiority complex that is all too frequently unwarranted. Several characters in the book discover underestimating Pine may have dire consequences. Atlee is still looking for her kidnapped twin sister, Mercy. This is an ongoing theme. This book wraps it up and we find out the hows and whys we’ve wondered about through the previous books.
I like strong female protagonists and apparently so does Baldacci. Mercy finally appears and she is… well no spoilers here. Britt is another character that is physically superior but with moral limitations. Carol Blum may not bench 300 pounds, but she has strengths of her own.
The book has a strong plot line with loads of action and some subtle twists.
I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Mercy by David Balducci.
I have followed Atlee Pine's life as an FBI agent since her first book. Her personal life, especially being a twin and the trauma of her young life has always been a sideline, second to whatever murder or mystery she is working on. This book puts her search for her sister front and center.
It is all a bit unbelievable but great fun to read. It's an all-nighter so be prepared.
My only gripe with the book is Balducci's reporting of trauma recovery. Probably because so much of the book is fantastical, fans will know that his descriptions of healing aren't quite the way it happens, especially with the depth of trauma that Mercy suffered. But still ...
Will we see Atlee Pine again?
Another great book by David Baldacci with Atlee Pine as she discovers what happened to her twin sister Mercy. She was abducted at 6 years old but there is good reason to believe that she is still alive based on evidence Atlee discovers. Fast paced action makes you feel like you are part of the story.
i look forward to more adventures with Atlee or other books by Baldacci.
In this 4th novel in the series, Atlee Pine is still looking for her sister Mercy. She has reason to believe that Mercy is alive after all these years and Atlee is not resting until she knows the truth. But others are looking for Mercy too
David Baldacci provides an effective change of pace with his Atlee Pine series. In this fourth entry, Mercy, FBI Agent, and her colleague, Carol Blum, are both on an official leave of absence as they are close to uncovering the truth behind the abduction of Atlee's twin sister Mercy when they were both six years old.
Describing details from Mercy spoils readers' experience. However, Mr. Baldacci develops a compelling group of characters, employs a complex plotline, and delivers a riveting story. This reviewer hopes there will be more Atlee Pine adventures.
It was all about survival. What more to life was there really.
I hope this is not the end of the Atlee Pine. I can see this going further. A powerhouse of strong vulnerable women. Atlee and her sister finally meet and it was just as powerful as when they were separated. The first 3 books were about Atlee looking for her sister Mercy and her caseload of being a FBI agent that pretty much went rogue. Mercy is about Mercy. How she survived and fought her way back. She was one to be admired. I like a good read that you can admire realistically a woman that can stand her ground and fights against the odds. She is not obnoxious but she is reflective. She is finding her way back to being human after being dehumanized in her young life.
If it is the end which I hope its not. It gave you all the answers and then some!
A special thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
David Baldacci’s series featuring FBI agent Atlee Pine began in 2018, with Long Road to Mercy. Subsequent titles included A Minute to Midnight and Daylight, continuing the story of Atlee’s search for her twin sister Mercy. I was pleased to receive a copy of Mercy, #4 in the series, from Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for this honest review.
Mercy was abducted at the age of six and has never been seen again. Later, Atlee’s parents abandoned her and her whole life has been an unending search for answers. Atlee has discovered why her parents abandoned her, and it looks likeMercy may actually have escaped and be alive.
Mercy’s escape left at least one dead body behind, and the book moves at a fast pace to a satisfying reveal at the end. It wasn’t “unputdownable,” but it held my interest and was entertaining. Three and a half stars, rounded down because it isn’t quite a four star book!
Atlee Pine has looked long and hard for her twin sister Mercy who was kidnapped when they were very young. The journey has been one she has been on for years and has taken advantage of her ability to find clues as part of her career in the FBI. This time with the help of her administrative assistant she might be onto something. There are many things that unravel in this twisty tale of lost family. First of all there is the father, is he the real father of the girls? And what really happened? Why were they kidnapped and why did the mother disappear so suddenly later in Atlee's life. Other twists and unanswered questions follow and the FBI follows up by appearing to solve another aspect of the story. There are real creeps in this thriller. Lots of people who have done and want to do harm to both Atlee and Mercy show up and a final showdown happens. I enjoyed this book and it is undoubtedly a prelude to more adventures in the Atlee Pine series. David Baldacci is an excellent writer and tells a good story of the good guys and gals and the bad guys and gals. For fans of action thrillers, super gal heroes, and entertaining stories this is a good book. Thanks to #Mercy#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Looking forward to more from Baldacci. He is a favorite.
