Thank You NetGalley, HarperCollins and Bates for this thrilling, exciting novel!

Inheritance Of Secrets is a wonderful, thrilling, modern day mystery with ties to the past.
I loved the historical parts of this novel, seeing glimpses of war torn Germany at the end of the war was so engaging.
Beautifully written, Sonya tells the story by alternating between the past and the present. Told by Juliet.

Readers meet Juliet Dunne in 2009 as she is going to identify the bodies of her grandparents in the city of Adelaide. It is only later she learns that they were brutally murdered. Her German grandparents Karl and Grete, had come to Australia after World War II and had raised her and her sister Lilly after their dad dies and their mother leaves. Lilly has many many bad choices regarding men and drug abuse and has been estranged from Juliet and her grandparents. Juliet has a lover of several years, Jason, but an old high school friend, Ellis comes back into her life because of the murder. Ellis is a reporter and tries to help Juliet look into her grandparents past, but then appears untrustworthy and Jason seems more interested in making partner than helping her. Then the story moves back in time to 1940's Germany and Karl tells his story and introduces his army friend, Hans Whemar and then other people on the ship to Australia in 1949. The story continues to moves back in forth in time. Karl's possible Nazi ties during WW II, stolen art and a signet ring lead Juliet into dangerous encounters with 21st century Nazis in this fast paced novel. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The brutal murder of an elderly couple appears to be the result of a home invasion gone wrong. Juliet believes there’s more to their murder than meets the eye, the only clue she has is the missing ring that belonged to her grandfather. Things are further complicated by Juliet’s sister Lily, who appears long enough to say she’s afraid for her life before she disappears again. In looking into her grandparent’s past she uncovers the real reason they moved to Australia after World War II and the reason that both she and her sister are at risk of suffering the same fate as their grandparents.
