This gave me all the cozy mystery feels and reminded me of my love for Nancy Drew. This would be a fun way to get your kids into mysteries.
A great chapter book for a young reader! The educational aspect is wonderful, and the plot is entertaining.
I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was by far enjoyable and i love the way of its writing. It's so easy to understand which is perfect for kids. The characters are also fun and colorful. Fina's adventure towards the mystery was amazing. Aside from that, I love Senator Something so much!
Overall, this is 4 stars for me!
A fun mystery story. The family dynamics were interesting and the writing was engaging. I liked the way this was educational about the basics of government without feeling like it was teaching
Fina is the 10 year old daughter of the congressman from the 34th congressional district of California. DC is very different from Los Angeles, and she misses her grandmother, who wasn’t able to come with them when she hand her sister moved to be with their father after their mother died.
But Fina does not sit around, she starts a dog walking business, and solves mysteries. This is the second book in the series, and the mystery this time is of what bird pooped on the president during his state of the union address. Everyone says it must have been an eagle, but Fina doesn’t think so.
This is a simple sort of mystery, and yet hard at the same time. How do you find a bird that is loose in the congressional building?
And during all this, her grandmother comes out from L.A., and the family has to get used to her being with them.
Very engaging story. And some civics thrown in for good measure as well. I like the dynamics of Fina and her Abuelita, and her father and sister. Everyone has a distinct personality.

My daughter and I had such a fun time reading this together at night! So much information, but in a fun kids level. Such a cute character too. I loved the conversations that followed. Highly recommend
I felt this book was slow to start but once a got into it, it was a page turner. I think it would appeal more to American children, or those with an interest in American politics. It’s great to have something a bit different to be able to recommend to children in my class.
We loved reading this book at bedtime, it was a great story for my seven year old to follow and enjoy. She loved it a lot!
I like a lot of middle grade books, but this wasn't my favorite. Still a good addition for kids who like crime-solving mystery books or interested in historical mysteries like National Treasure.
I enjoyed reading this mysteries book and if you liked Nancy Drew mysteries you might want to introduce your child to this one. Thank You netgalley for letting me review this book for a honest review
