Electric Idol by Katee Robert is a fun, fast-paced romance with a twist on Greek mythology. It’s a modern retelling where the characters are all based on the gods and goddesses, but they live in a world that feels pretty close to ours. The story centers around Psyche and Eros, who are forced into an arranged marriage. At first, Eros seems like the villain, but as the story unfolds, he turns out to be way more complicated than that.

The chemistry between Psyche and Eros is instant, and the tension between them makes the book super addictive. It’s got a lot of steamy moments, but there’s also a lot of heart. The characters are well-developed, and the way they deal with family, duty, and their feelings feels real. Psyche is strong, smart, and independent, while Eros is a mix of tough and vulnerable. Their relationship goes through a lot of ups and downs, but it’s the kind of romance that makes you root for them the whole time.

In a world where no one can be trusted, loyalty is vital, and family obligations are a matter of life and death this retelling is a fast read.
One moment will change everything for Psyche and Eros in a battle of power, wit, and trust.

An inferno read with sedcutino, attempted murder, fear, lots of chemistry, and a plan to survive in a world whe

Oh, and he falls first which makes this so much sweeter!

As a fan of other Katee Roberts books, I downloaded this on in the hope I would enjoy it, despite it being a genre I typically don't read. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into it at all. I initially took a break from it, intending to return to it later, but I've since lost interest. Thank you for providing a copy for review consideration!

I love about half of Katee Robert's works. Half of them are really great and steamy and fun, but the other half always feels a little gratuitous. That does not make them bad necessarily, it just makes them not right for me. I absolutely love this series in particular, I just forgot one thing that is a general rule for me, and that is that I only really want to read not-straight romances. This one was well-written, but it didn't engage me because it was about a straight relationship. That is not at all a negative against the book, it's likely a negative against me as the reader, but I personally could not get into the story. I will absolutely still recommend the series Katee Roberts despite not finishing this one.

I really love this mythological series from Katee Robert. This steamy addition is about Psyche and Eros, who as the son of Aphrodite puts his mother's target on Psyche's back. Psyche, a plus-sized heroine, navigates Aphrodite's wrath and the unrelenting press in this steamy fake-relationship story.

Electric Idol by Katee Robert is a perfect fit for readers who crave a dark and emotional fantasy romance with a strong enemies-to-lovers trope, Greek mythology retelling, and a slow-burning passion that will keep them hooked until the very end.

Guys, i really wanted to love this one. Favorite Greek love story? Check. Plus sized main character and Igbt rep?
Check. Spice? Oh yeah, Check.
This book had all the makings of a 5 star reads but some things i just couldn't look past.
Psyche, a plus sized influencer, is often described as smelling(and even tasting) like food/desserts which bothered me. Plus sized/curvy people are regular people who just so happen to carry more weight. That does not mean they smell like a donut shop or taste like a cupcake.
The ultimatum that was given seemed confusing as well. "I can murder you or marry you". Ok but why? Ero's logic was if i marry you, my mom can't hurt you. The entire plot of this story debunks that logic. Eros essentially held psyche at gunpoint and said "marry me". The love story itself to me felt rushed.
I loved Neon Gods and Psyche and Ero's Greek story is, hands down, one of my favorites, but i couldn't in good faith give this story more than 3 stars.

Katee Robert is an instant-read author for me so I was thrilled to have been given access to an ARC of the second book i her Dark Olympus series. I really love anything mythology-oriented so I knew that I was in for a real treat with this Cupid and Psyche retelling and boy was I right, I love how Robert stays true to and maintains the integrity of the myths but still puts her own spin. The spice in these books is really unmatched and i cant wait to read the next books in this incredible series.

Extra spicy mixed with Greek God inspired characters. You know what to expect from Katee Roberts and she does not disappoint here! Great for fans of Jennifer Armentrout or Scarlett St. Clair.

This book helped me to get out of a book slump, so that right there is a huge plus. I also LOVED the ending and how Psyche was smart with her planning, though I do wonder how Aphrodite could have been that foolish, but I guess she was too excited at the chance to really think things through.

I did love the romance between the two MCs, though if you like your books clean, the language and spice-meter are high and you might not enjoy it. It worked for me in the context of the world, the storyline and the characters, but YMMV.

And I LOVE the sisterly love between Psyche and her three sisters. They are so FIERCE in trying to protect each other. I LOVE how even if they don't agree with what their mom is doing, they still love her and have family dinners together. They bicker and fight, but let ANYone from outside of their group try to lay a finger on any of them? You have to deal with ALL of them.

The drama does involve a female antagonist, but not ALL of the women are antagonistic towards each other. They have solid female friends too, though most of the book is the MCs being all mentally mushy and physically all over each other, there are scenes of female bonding AND platonic, almost sibling love between non-related members of the opposite gender, so WOOT!

4, female solidarity and TWU WUV for the win, stars!

My thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

Once again, Katee hits it out of the park with this book. She is so absolutely wonderful and every single book I read of hers just gets better and better.

Part of me feels like Greek mythology retellings are getting old, but theres a brand new spin on this one that I ADORE, and it’s absolutely how you do a retelling. The spice, the characters, and the plot are phenomenal.

This was not my favorite of the series but I still enjoyed it. It was super hot and the story kept me engaged. I love Katee's writing style so that will always make it at least a three star read!

I really loved this installment in the Neon Gods books. The main characters were alluring and phenomenal. I can’t wait to read more!

Fun book but lacked depth. This is a good book to just read through on vacation. Scratches the surface of what could be. Enjoyed the dual pov, but really disliked how long it took for them to acknowledge their feelings for one another. I think if they had talked sooner, the book could have ramped up more tension with the bad guy. Once again, low angst like with Neon Gods.
Good fluff read.
