I'm so excited to be back in Olympus but this time with Psyche. Psyche who helps out dangerous Eros when he was injured then gets a target on her back by his mother. So he does the only thing he can think of fake sudden marriage. 🔥🔥🔥 There were no other options right Eros 😉

Aphrodite uses Eros as her hitman for any tiny infraction and he does what she commands, but not her.

This book was so steamy and I loved that she was curvy, plus size and a social influencer. His outrage over the comments and her brushing them off. People are hateful when they don't see a human but a phone or computer. They would never say half the things they type out loud.

I love these covers! I can't wait to get my pre-order with the art print from Aunties.

Thank you sourcebookscasa and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

This was just as hot and thrilling as I thought it would be. Katie Roberts really knows how to keep a girl at the edge of her seat. Dual POV, "I hate everyone but you", witty banter, tension so thick I was sweating -- Roberts does it all. Eros is like everything I would want in a partner.

However, this book still lacked in world building. Don't get me wrong though, it was exponentially better than Neon Gods! I actually (kind of) understand it now. But I still have so many questions so minus one star for that.

I’m having so much fun with this series!

Psyche Dimitriou lives in Olympus, so she’s always wearing a mask in public, just as the rest of her sisters do. Though, each of their approaches are different. Psyche acts for the world as the sweet, unassuming, social media influencer, but always holds her real self back. Her mother is Demeter, one of the Thirteen, the rulers of the city. One of Demeter’s greatest enemies is another of the Thirteen, Aphrodite. Aphrodite has decided Psyche will pay the price for their latest feud, and she sends her son Eros to collect Psyche’s heart. Literally.

Eros Ambrosia is his mother’s personal fixer. He can’t really let himself have emotions in order to do what he does for her, and he thinks himself a monster. But, this time Aphrodite asks too much. There’s something about Psyche, and he finds he doesn’t want to hurt her. He just can’t make himself do it. He decides the only way to keep them both safe is to marry her instead. But, he has no idea how that decision will change his life forever.

Psyche and Eros had an electric connection from the start! They both knew there was no possibility of a future for them… until it was the only option that would save them both. Even then, it was a marriage of convenience only. Famous last words though! Their attraction wouldn’t let them keep it platonic for long!! I loved their connection and how confusing it was for them at first. They were drawn to each other in a way they never had been to another, and I ate it up!

Both Psyche and Eros had so much family drama, and issues galore. Though Demeter is certainly no picnic as a mother, she at least actually loves her kids, and wants the best for them, even if she thinks she knows better what that “best” is. And each of the sisters react to that in different ways, of course. Aphrodite on the other hand, was a straight up MONSTER! I hurt for Eros so much that she was all he had for family. I really enjoyed getting a view into those dynamics.

I’m not quite sure exactly what happened with me while reading this one. I liked both these characters a lot, but I just didn’t feel the same way for them as I did for Hades and Persephone. I can’t pinpoint exactly why, which bothers me, but I’m just not sure what it was. While I didn’t connect with this quite as much as Neon Gods, I still found the book highly enjoyable! I’m also VERY MUCH looking forward to book 3, because Helen was a DELIGHT in this story, and I can’t wait to get to know her better!

This second installment in the Dark Olympus series is a standalone featuring Psyche and Eros and their epic love story.

The world that Katee Robert has created is fresh and unique. It has hints of the paranormal, what with Olympus being an impossible place to leave, but aside from this, none of the story has supernatural elements. Olympus resembles Manhattan, with the rich socialites and the political intrigue. The thirteen “gods” are in power in the city, and they each control different elements of trade and business. Psyche is the daughter of one of the thirteen, Demeter, and she has her public persona that is quite different from her personal one. She is a social media influencer, and is constantly seeking out the perfect photographs that look effortless while showing herself in the right light. I liked getting the peek of curtain for what the life of a social media influencer could really be like. Psyche deals with a lot of hateful comments on her posts because of her plus-size figure, and her carefully-perfected persona is both crafty and cunning. She has everything down to her favourite drink that she orders at bars selected under the knowledge that it will be under public scrutiny in the gossip magazines.

Aphrodite is one of the Thirteen who is arch nemesis to Demeter. Aphrodite’s son, Eros, does her bidding, whether it’s protecting her from enemies or killing those she views as a potential threat to her power. Because Aphrodite and Demeter despise each other, their children are barely acquaintances. But when Eros shows up to a party injured, Psyche, being a kind and selfless person, is compelled to help him. But of course, they both live in the public eye, and the paparazzi catch them leaving the bathroom together and assume that they’re “together”. Aphrodite is furious, and she tells Eros that she wants Psyche killed. But Eros, despite believing himself to be soulless, can’t bring himself to kill the one person who’s ever shown him kindness. *Insert swooning here*

This book is intense and heavily plotted, but there are numerous sweet moments between Eros and Psyche. I’m not particularly familiar with Greek mythology, and though I was aware of the general story for the first book in this series (you have to be living under a rock not to have heard of Hades and Persephone), I didn’t know who Psyche or Eros was. Despite this ignorance, I loved Robert’s shallow socialites interpretation of this ancient mythology.

This book takes a popular romance novel trope of the marriage of convenience and puts a a steamy and suspenseful new spin on it.

Electric Idol is yet another hot and enticing book by Katee Robert, and it did not disappoint.

Electric Idol is the second book in Dark Olympus series, and follows Persephone's sister, Psyche. After Demeter's plans for Persephone to wed Zeus go south, Psyche is the next sister in line for the marriage. But it is a marriage she would do anything to avoid. Demeter and Aphrodite have an ongoing feud, and when Aphrodite learns of Demeter's plans for Psyche, she orders her son, Eros, to kill Psyche. Psyche obviously doesn't want to die, and Eros finds that he does not want to kill her either, so the only solution? Marriage. But does it all work out in the end? Or does Psyche meet the fate that Aphrodite had planned all along?

This book kept me up way later than it should have, but I just needed to know what was going to happen next! It had the perfect amount of tension, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and alpha male vibes. The plot kept evolving, and I could not have predicted how it actually ended! It also had the perfect balance of smut and plot, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Thanks so much to Source Books and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy to review!

I've recently discovered an interest in reading about mythology, so I pleased to be able to read this one. It's different than the ones I have stumbled on so far. I rather enjoyed this.

This book was ELECTRIC! Seriously, a book about Eros, Psyche and Aphrodite should definitely bring the heat and boy did this ever.

I didn’t think I could love a book more than Neon Gods, the first in this series, but this one totally knocked it out of the park it was THAT good.

For this second book in the series, we find Psyche, Demeter’s daughter, on her guard at yet another party in Olympus. She knows her mother is now vying for her to marry Zeus now that her sister Persephone is no longer an option as she’s with Hades.

But when Psyche gets a moment’s peace from the posturing and plotting of the party, she runs into Eros….who’s bleeding.

Psyche is one smart girl and knows exactly who Eros is, the monster of Olympus, but that doesn’t prevent her from helping him and that does something to Eros.

So, when his mother, Aphrodite, wants Psyche out of the picture and calls for him to literally carve out Psyche’s heart, he can’t go through with it. Only now Eros and Psyche must take on Aphrodite together.

Well let me tell you. Monster or not, Eros can strike me with his arrow any time. Seriously, this man was H-O-T and his chemistry with Psyche was off the charts.

While he’s often considered a monster for the tasks he carries out for his mother, he sure did show his more human side when it came to Psyche.

They instantly fell in step with one another but it really worked. Sure, it’s a case of instalove but who can blame them?

Psyche was no push over when literally faced with her own demise and I loved her for it. She was such a strong, independent woman but couldn’t help falling for the monster.

I loved how Robert used Psyche’s talent as a social media influencer as it fit perfectly to the story. I also love how Psyche was not another tall, skinny blond but a woman with curves who owned them.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and how it fits within the world Robert’s is building in this series. But it was ultimately the chemistry between Psyche and Eros that had me devouring each and every page.

Great writing, great story, amazing characters, a must read!

It definitely deserves its place as one of my most anticipated romance books of 2022. Bring on the next in the series!

*Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

4.5/5 ⭐️ 2.5-3/5 🌶

I'm not picky about my books (well some might argue otherwise but I digress lol), all I need is great writing, a decent/good plot and some sex scenes sprinkled around (even better if its truly dirty talking/ nasty s3x lol). Katie delivers in this one. It's a marriage of convenience that worked out in the end for all parties involved.

The story line follows a few months after Neon Gods. It follows Eros and Psyche and sort of a star-crossed lovers situation but on steroids considering Eros' mother Aphrodite wants Psyche's heart.. literally, wants her taken out and heart pumping in a glass jar situation, all because she's a huge jealous B***. And of course, Psyche's mom is pivoting from Persephone/Hades situation and still trying to sell her daughter to the person in the highest power seat (Zeus). A majority of the book focuses on them as a couple and trying to navigate/benefit from this situation but those pesky feelings get involved. I just love the reference of comparing Eros to a feral cat "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙩.. "

Overall, I loved both characters. I wanted to huge Eros throughout the whole story and Psyche was pretty clever, I just LOVE intelligent female main characters.

I was so excited to read this book after reading Neon Gods! Katee Robert did a great job giving us more world building and insight into the inner workings of Olympus.
I definitely enjoyed reading from Eros’s perspective. Reading about his inner turmoil and past troubles really gave depth to his character. He was probably my favorite overall in this book. This book is dual POV between Eros and Psyche which I really appreciated because it gave us their thought processes as the plot progressed. This book was definitely slow at some points but the chemistry in this book made up for it 🔥.
Sparks were definitely flying between Eros and Psyche in Electric Idol. Katee Robert did a magnificent job giving her audience to flawed characters that fit so well together 👏

This is such a different book than Neon Gods, and I LOVED that about it
We have Eros, who has never been in love and has spent his life doing Aprodites (his mom) dirty work. Then there is Psyche who is nice to Eros once, and what happens, he falls head over heels for her. So, when Aphrodite wants Eros to do more of her bidding, and bring her Psyche's heart, what better thing to do than start a marriage of convenience.

Some things I loved:
- Marriage of convenience - let's pretend we're in love but oops what if we are
- Instalust - like he was all in for her
- Plus-size rep
- The development of Psyche and Eros' relationship - the emotion, and the vulnerability between them wonderful

If you enjoyed Neon Gods, I would highly recommend Electric Idol!

I finally just read Neon Gods and immediately jumped into Electric Idol. This series is so delicious and juicy and fun, I'm glad I listened to TikTok and got on board with it. Psyche and Eros were easy to get emotionally attached to and I devoured this fast-paced book. I really hope there are many more books to come set in this world. I'm ready for Callisto now!

I loved this book so much! It was such a fast, engrossing read, balancing danger and romance amazingly. The dynamic between Eros and Psyche was constantly intriguing even as it shifted throughout the book. Portraying well-known, classical characters in a fresh way can be difficult, but this book gives a fresh take on every character it includes. I was particularly fascinated with the way Aphrodite's vanity was spun, as well as how that affected her relationship with Eros. Everyone's motivations, even the side characters, were so thoroughly considered in a way that added depth to the worldbuilding, really making it feel like the city existed past the main characters.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I would say it's not as good as Neon Gods, but it's also not bad that I just wanted to throw it away and be done with it. You are given the opportunity to interact more with the upper city gods than you did with the previous book, not to mention some of the backlash due to the events that had occurred in the previous book as well. I admit I barely remember much about Persephone's other sisters from the first book except the baby of the family, but you get a bit more of that dynamic and how the sisters interact with their mother, each other, and the other gods. The mythology is build on more which I enjoyed learning how things worked and I'm kind of excited and hopeful that Ms. Robert will do more stories focusing on the other two daughters.

Final answer: The book is a good time, but I don't think I'll re-read it anytime soon. The characters were great and engaging to the point that I kind of wished we had more time with the side characters than what we did, but overall the plot was a basic trope-fest.

I adored reading Katee Robert's Neon Gods! When I saw that Electric Idol was on NetGalley I new I had to read it! Similar to Neon Gods, Electric Idol is based upon Greek Mythology and follows the characters of Psyche and Eros!!! Let me just say, Electric Idol has the perfect amount of smut, an amazing plot and character development and the prefect about of description. I personally prefer Electric Idol over Neon Gods. I cannot wait to share with my friends this fabulous smutty read! Katee Robert never disappoints!

The most hot (read: sexy, steamy, filthy) take on the Greek classics *fans self* Chalk another one up for the misunderstood villain

After Neon Gods’ retelling of Hades and Persephone, Electric Idol takes on Eros and Pysche, the second of Demeter’s daughters. Eros is Olympus’s quintessential bad boy, in more ways than one. He’s quite the playboy but more importantly, he’s his mother’s weapon of choice against her enemies. A moment of kindness between Eros and Pysche, captured in a photo at one of Zeus’s parties, leads Aphrodite to give Eros an order: bring her Pysche’s heart. Literally. When Eros arranges a meeting with Psyche meant to follow through on Aphrodite’s order, he can’t bring himself to harm her. Realizing that if he doesn’t do it, someone else will, they decide their only course of action to keep her safe is to get married. As quickly as possible. Between fighting their quickly growing attraction to each other, faking their torrid love affair to the public, and keeping one step ahead of Aphrodite and her revenge at being foiled, the pair have quite their work cut out for them just to stay alive.

Many thanks to Katee Robert, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review! Can’t wait to add a copy to my bookshelf in January!

Electric Idol follows Eros and Psyche... I really love how Katee Robert has decided to retell these Greek Myths!
Eros is the boogeyman, the fixer.. whomever Aprodite needs delt with Eros gets the job done. Psyche blends in and plays the game of the perfect olympian.. at least to the public.

Psyche has done something to anger Aphrodite.. or at least her mother Demeter has. Now Aphrodite wants nothing more that for Psyches heart to be delievered to her, so she sends her son Eros to get the job done.
However just this once, he doens't want to do what his mother says.. so he comes up with the idea of marrying Psyche.. Its the only way he can see to keep her safe from his mother.. and if they happen to have some sexy fun times than all the better... Marriage of convience is one of my favorite tropes and it was done so well in this book!

As they get closer they begin to realize that there is more to each other than they both realize, and in trying to make the world believe that they are in love... they are actually falling for each other..

I love how Psyche loves Eros despite the life he lived as his mothers fixer. and that Eros gets to see the real Psyche who no one but her family has ever known before..

This is a great sequel to Neon Gods and I can't wait for more!!
I hope we get a book following Callisto and Eurydice. Especially with what we find out happens to one of them in this story!!

While the world was grappling with the lockdown and changes in our social lives, the book TikTokers relished the opportunity to spill the beans on their most sinful reads–especially Katee Robert’s first installment of her Dark Olympus series “Neon Gods.” Her sequel, “Electric Idol,” is just as sinful as “Neon Gods” and gives new meaning to “reimagined myths” in this modern retelling of Psyche and Eros.

In this modern reimagining of their epic love story, Psyche and Eros are thrown into a fake marriage after the goddess of love puts a hit on Psyche–a job to be carried out by Eros himself. He has no problem committing murder on behalf of his mother, Aphrodite, yet he can’t bring himself to take out Psyche. In the act of rebellion and protection, Eros marries Psyche. The not-so-happily married couple vow to make each other’s lives a living hell during their time together–but as the two grow closer, neither of them can deny the growing tension and love between them.

The second installment of the Dark Olympus series isn’t nearly as steamy and raunchy as “Neon Gods”–but there’s no shortage of stolen moments in this novel. Psyche and Eros’s chemistry explodes when their emotions tangle with their fake-marriage dynamics–not to mention they’re both described as being hot as f*ck.
The romance and spice are the main events of “Electric Idol.” Still, the themes Roberts weaves into the narrative are equally as impressive. Abuse and fat-phobia seem to be the most prevalent themes–adding a nuanced layer that “Neon Gods” was missing.

There’s no denying Robert’s retelling doesn’t follow the couple’s mythical love story to a T; nevertheless, it’s the perfect steamy read for Greek mythology fans. Believe me, the moment Roberts announces the third installment–given the cliffhanger, it’ll most likely be about Perseus and Callisto–I will be immediately adding it to my wish list.

A huge thank you to Sourcebooks Casa for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

4.5🌟 5🌶

CW: fatphobic comments, blood, violence

The first book in this series, Neon Gods, was one of my most favorite books this year given the mind blowing result of a Hades/Persephone retelling and Katee Robert’s A+ writing so I was obviously excited for the next books in the series!

I can definitely say that this book exceeded my expectations and excitement over it! The romance and plot just gets better and better and at this point, I’ll be counting down the days until the next books.

What I LOVED: EVERYTHING??? Just the premise of having the marriage of convenience and forced proximity tropes between Psyche (another of Demeter’s beautiful daughters) and Eros (Aphrodite’s wickedly handsome son) was both scandalous and exciting! The involvment of social media in their relationship was a nice touch.

I fell in love hard and fast with both characters with Psyche being an unapologetically confident plus size heroine and Eros, a morally grey hero with a golden heart who is genuinely obsessed with his wife. Their dynamic was a match made in heaven and the chemistry they had was so natural. The sexual tension was so intense, it led to very steamy, panty melting smut!

What I LIKED: I’m not new to Katee’s writing so I know I was gonna love this but I wasn’t expecting how fast I would devour this.

She’s the best when it comes to writing lovable characters and romantic relationships but this modern Olympus world she has created is so INTERESTING. I enjoyed how I was equally invested in the sideplot involving the politics surrounding the olympians and their families as well as Aphrodite’s revenge plot.

The fact that this is a series and we’ll get books for the rest of our favorite Greek myth stars makes me more ecstatic when meeting side characters. Besides the lovely Dimitrou sisters and Hermes, I liked that I got to meet Helen here especially knowing she’s in the next book

What I DIDN’T ENJOY: Uhhh that it’s over so soon and I’ll have to wait for the next book again :( but in all seriousness, I liked their wife/husband pet names and it was swoony for a hot second but became a bit cringey at the end

Words aren’t enough to show how excited I am for Wicked Beauty (book 3!!) I’ve always loved Achilles/Patroclus retellings so to add in Helen in that relationship making it a ménage/MMF romance has me WANTING TO COMBUST. I have a good feeling it’s gonna be my fave book in the series!

THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR: fans of super steamy, modern Greek mythology retellings with fun characters and captivating plot! If you’re as obsessed with Katee Robert as I am, I highly recommend checking out this series!

Psyche and Eros forever!!
I loved the dynamic that these two have. When a photo of them together goes viral, they decide to enter a marriage of convenience. What Psyche doesn't know at the time, is that Eros doesn't want to let her go.
Though Psyche is a confident curvy woman, she still has some insecurities when stripping down. Eros doesn't hide his desire for her, and it's amazing.
Steamy as always with Katee Robert, and I have to be honest, I loved it more than I loved Neon Gods!
