I feel a little let down by this book. The story itself I would argue is pretty good but requires more development.
The characters are definitely there but not at all developed.
Where is the awesome scenery.

I just feel that a lot could be added to make this a better read.
Also the natives. History tells us how badly they were treated but this literally brushes the issues.

Has potential.

This book has a really interesting baseline for a story, but I think it needs more work. Although the plot is interesting, there is no description of people, settings, feelings, etc. I'd also add a little more of the bad treatment of the native people, since it seems to gloss over a lot of the injustices done to them.
