‘We’re all mad here’ is possibly the most original horror I’ve read in a while.
I haven’t read book one in the series but now I know about this author I will definitely go back and revisit it. This installment does touch on the events of the first but the recap is pretty easy to pick up on and can be read easily as a standalone.
The story focuses on Anna, who has many dark secrets from her time at Claymore Manor school, a time shared by her cousin Lucia. The events pick up where Lucia has escaped from an asylum and their family believe that Anna is the only one who can find her. Both Anna and Lucia are haunted souls with ‘gifts’ they find difficult to control.
The story as a whole is very dark and the atmosphere created is perfectly moody and gothic throughout. Personally I loved everything about this novel except possibly the ending (I didn’t feel like it was fully resolved) however this could very well be the bridge towards a third book.
I am so happy to have found this author because this book is one of few that really gripped me with tales of the supernatural and the level of creepiness that really does make you look over your shoulder. Loved it!

Read this book without realising it was part of a series but to be honest it didn’t deter or confuse my enjoyment of it.
If you enjoy really dark horror stories then this is definitely one for you some parts actually make you feel that these things really could be happening without most of the world knowing - maybe just my overactive imagination.
I would recommend this to true horror lovers.

I didn't realize until several chapters in that this is book two in a series. In that fact, the book was a little hard to understand and I muddle through, but I am going to go back to read book one.

Interesting tale of madness, jealousy, and family dysfunction that rolls along making you wonder if anything more is going to happen until you realize you are sucked into the even-tempered tale that grabs ahold of you until the end.

We're All Mad Here is so well written and so interesting that you can read it as a stand alone (as I did).
I am definitely going back to read book 1!

Book 1, Come When I Call You introduces the character and in this next installment, three years have passed and everyone is an adult. Anna is attending college in Canada and is called back by her strange and angry Aunt to locate her cousin Lucia. It turns out that Lucia escaped from an asylum and to locate her Anna will need to stir up past horrifying events and ghosts that are better left alone.

The beautiful writing sets a haunting and gothic stage. This book is intense and dark and I loved every bit of it.
If you like dark, gothic, secretive tales..haunting other worlds and fearless heroines, this book is for you!
