As a Buffy fan, I was extremely excited when I heard about this book and it definitely does not disappoint. I think it is a fun read for fans of the show with lots of little hints and Easter eggs from the show that I really enjoyed. I don't know how much someone with no knowledge of the show would enjoy this book or follow the details of the world but most likely those aren't the people that will be picking this up. In Every Generation follows Frankie, the daughter of Willow, and takes place over a decade after the ending of the original tv series. I've never read the comics so I can't say how it connects with that at all but I would assume it follows events and references moments from those as well based on how well it connected to the tv show. I think the storyline was fun and entertaining and I did like the new Scooby gang of Hailey, Frankie, and Jake so I'm excited to see what happens with them in future books of this series. I just didn't love this book and I don't really know why. It was still a fun time, it just wasn't the best thing I've ever read and I felt that it tried too hard sometimes to reference small details from the show rather than focusing more on the new storyline. I was mostly in it for the Buffy universe adventure, the story itself following Frankie was just fine for me.

I still get students coming in and asking for vampire books, and I'm running out of good, middle school types of options to offer them. This book is the perfect choice! Whether they have seen the Buffy series or not, this book will draw them in. Personally, I loved the continuation of the storyline that I fell in love with years ago with Buffy, and it might be fun to bring in some new fans!

The perfect companion for a day spent in the ER -- I so appreciated the distraction of a perfect and original homage to one of my favorite TV series; I can't wait to spend more time with the new and original members of the Scooby gang!
