This series doesn't have the same appeal for me that the author's Country Store series has, and I'm not sure why since there are many similarities (yet they stand alone). I still liked the book and mystery. I liked the use of Cokey in this book and it fits in very naturally with the story. While there was no cliffhanger, when I finished the book I was left to ponder whether there would be a big, unexpected change in Mac's life in the next book and if there was, would it detract from the mystery of that book. Hmmmmm....
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is an excellent cozy full of twists and turns, well developed characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. The story is intriguing and you will devour this book! I couldn't put it down. Kudos Maddie Day!!! Thanks #netgalley and #Keningston for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
Cozy mysteries are my favorite and I love this series! This is the third book so far and all 3 have had the same formula- likeable characters, funny dialogue, entertaining mysteries. I can’t wait for the next one!
I've become a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery. Putting Maddie Day on my 1-click list.
Murder at the Lobstah Shack by Maddie Day is a great cozy mystery that is the third book in the entertaining and adorable Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery series.
I have really enjoyed this series and its progression from the first book onward. This time it is the owner/(nearby business neighbor of Mac and her bike shop) Tulia and the unfortunate discovery of a body in her cooler. Even more unfortunate for the owner, she was seen disagreeing with the victim just days before her demise. Despite her promise to avoid her amateur sleuthing ways, Mac and her book group go to town in helping unearth the real culprit, clear Tulia's name as a person of interest, and get everything in quaint town back into order. As always, Mac gets herself into situations of precarious levels of instability as she tries to accomplish this task.
There are twists, turns, suspense, mystery, and a wonderful cast of supporting characters that reside and visit the quaint town of Westham, Massachusetts. The seaside town is so cute, homey, and welcoming. It is a great contrast to the sinister events that seem to take place within. I am enjoying the backstories and relationships of the characters themselves. Mac is a feisty, realistic, and likable gal, and I am always rooting for her with every quest she takes on. I enjoyed this mystery as much as the previous and look forward to seeing what else will be in store for this gang.
4.5/5 stars rounded to 5.
