Abigail finds a injured man almost drowned on the beach and with help gets him home. Because he seems to have been coughed up out of the sea she calls him Jonah.

And so begins the relationship between Abigail and Jonah. Abigail is Amish, she lives with her family, her parents and two sisters. Their parents have raised them to be independent thinking girls, but still ones who keep the way of living of the Amish.

Jonah is an outsider, and after he is discovered by her family he stays with him. His memory of who he is has completely vanished. As he works around the inn and grounds slowly he has little flashes of memory. Abigail keeps track of these in a primitive art memory quilt, building his story as memories surface.

However there is tension for Jonah and Abigail. They are obviously falling for each other but it is apparent to them all that his way of life and theirs is not compatible. There were many instances where this proved so, but others where it showed a different side. My favorite moment was Jonah standing up to Abigail's aunt Miriam.

There is a little suspense, especially at the end. Probably not in the strong way I am used to, however it was the insertion of Jonah into the Amish family and the tensions there of that held it together for me. I was especially interested in the quilt being made.

I was of course happy with how it all resolved and I have to say I just might want to read the next one about one of the other sisters, just to see how the family are doing.

The Memory Quilt is a story in which the Amish and Englisch worlds meet in a unique and unusual way. Abigail King and her family own and run an inn on a small lake off Lake Erie. The family worked for the original owners but inherited it when the owners were killed. Abigail's life changed on a cold early morning when she found a Englisch man severely injured on the shore of the lake. She nursed him back to health but his memory is gone. He had been shot so he was apparently involved in a situation that must have been dangerous. She called him Jonah because the lake spit him out. As Jonah gets triggers that bring flashes of memory, Abigail draws the images and then makes them into a quilt, hoping that will help Jonah remember. The two become close, against her family's wishes, even though they try to keep things on a friendship basis. This is an emotional story of a situation that cannot happen, that of an Amish woman and an Englisch man. He might be married. He might have a child. He could be a criminal. This is a story that will draw in those who enjoy Amish and suspenseful stories. A great start to a new series.

I loved this book. It is a Amish story but with mystery and action along with romance. I loved what Abigail did with the Memory Quilt. It is a great read. Could not put it down.

The Memory Quilt‘s location is Pennsylvania near the shore of Lake Erie at a Shadow Lake Inn, owned and operated by an Amish family, the Kings. Abigail King is taking a daily early morning walk along the shore. It is her time to pray and to think. In the distance she spots a shape partially in the water — a man. Dressed in "Englisch" clothing. He moans … he has been shot. And from that moment on, Abigail’s life along with her family changes.

Abigail King is the oldest daughter and bears the responsibility of the Inn since her father’s heart attack. Her mother also has health issues so Abigail handles the day-to-day operation of Shadow Lake Inn which includes a restaurant. She is close to her sisters, Eliza and Colette, who do considerable work at the Inn too.

The man … in a moment of consciousness says “No police…” and Abigail honors the request. And decides to put him in the little-used carriage house apartment. She tends to his wound all the while doing her work for the Inn. But she does not tell her parents about the stranger.

The mystery? Who is this man? Why was he shot? He cannot tell them. He has amnesia. He does not know his name or remember anything about his previous life or how he ended up shot. He gets “flashes” of the past along with a blinding headache. And he and Abigail are drawn to each other. The story’s mystery increases as the book progresses. He senses “danger”. And, believe me, there is most definitely danger.

A good mystery should keep you trying to figure it out. And this is a good mystery. Only at the end do we readers find the answers to the questions.

I truly enjoyed this Amish mystery that kept me guessing and wondering. I leave it to you, the reader, to learn why the book is aptly named "The Memory Quilt".

One minor factor that I founded a bit unbelievable — the police do learn that he was shot but there are no repercussions for not reporting it. But that is not the reason for the four stars. There was just an elusive something that didn’t keep me engaged. It might be the Shadow Lake Inn felt more like a fancy inn seen in movies. Or how Abigail was able to handle the operating aspects of the inn and yet be the only one taking care of the mystery man

Good enough, not great. I wanted more but this book was just very predictable. Easy to read. Just not for me.

This is an Amish story that begins with a mystery, and ends with a lot of action! Not your typical Amish book!

An Amish young woman helps restore to health a man who does not know whom he is, we wonder if he is a good guy or someone that is running from crimes he has committed.

We are there as he starts having flash backs and helping at the Inn, are they safe to have him here?

Will the community allow him to stay for awhile? Can interaction be avoided? So many questions, and they are answered!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zebra, and was not required to give a positive review.

I totally enjoyed this story. I loved Abigail who seemed very trusting despite not knowing if "Jonah" was a good guy or not so good. She has a very protective nature and I love her patience and kindness. I think she is a really kind hearted person and I love the little bit of mystery and intrigue as the story progresses. You will want to continue reading just to find out who Jonah really is. This is a very enjoyable book.

A riveting read about an Englisher with amnesia and an Amish innkeeping family. A man is discovered bleeding by the water and is saved by an Amish girl. She plots with her sisters to keep him a secret from her parents while she cares for him. Over the course of a few weeks, she realizes he has lost his memory. Eventually, her parents find out and are convinced to keep him as a groundskeeper. What does a quilt have to do with his recovery? What is his real story?

This book is interesting, but I found it slow in some parts. I received this ARC compliments to Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Kensington Books, Zebra for allowing me to read an ARC of The memory quilt written by Lenora Worth Although Ms. Worth is an award-winning New York Times best selling author, this is my first time to read one of her books. After reading this book, I can understand why she is a best seller. This will not be the last of her books I read.

From the first words, this author grabs your attention and keeps it.

This is not your usual feel -good Amish story.

Abigail King helps her mother, father and two sisters run an inn in a small Amish community near Lake Erie Pennsylvania. On one of her walks along the shore, she finds a wounded English man who has also lost his memory. Every instinct of hers tells her to help the stranger. Unbeknownst to her parents she nurses the young man back to health and gives him the name Jonah.

Jonah fears the authorities and Abigail tries to help by making a quilt of his memories as he recalls them. All the while there is an unforbidden attraction growing between them.

It is finally clear that the only way Jonah is going to regain his past is to ask the local police for help. Meanwhile he is allowed to work at the inn.

Now the question remains will there ever be a future for Abigail and Jonah?

The Memory Quilt will be released November 30, 2021, and will be a 5-star book to add to your collection.

All opinions are my own, and I was not required to give a positive review.

Kept Me Guessing

I started reading The Memory Quilt late in the evening with the intent of reading a few chapter and reading the rest the next day. Well, that plan went out the window the minute Abigail King found an unconscious man lying on the beach near her family's property. She feels compelled to help the stranger, who she names Jonah, and discovers that he has no recollection of who he is or how he got to where she found him. Yup. That is where the plan to read a few chapters went out the window. I read the entire book in one sitting, and although it was the well past my usual bedtime when I finished, I wasn't sorry that I had persisted until the end.

Author Leona Worth did a fantastic job of giving just the right amount of details to keep you guessing without revealing Jonah's story until the very end. The intrigue and suspense held my interest all the way through. But I was also taken in by Jonah's journey. As he begins to get little pieces of his memory back, Jonah and Abigail become close. But more importantly, Jonah also begins to grow in faith and in a relationship with God, which I found to be very inspiring. The mystery, intrigue, romance and inspiration make this a definite must read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions and comments are strictly my own.

This is a solid start to a new series about three Amish sisters who run an inn. It was fun to unravel the mystery along with the characters. I am familiar with the Lake Erie area, so I enjoyed the setting. The amnesia angle was a unique twist. This is a quick, enjoyable read for fans of Amish fiction.

The beginning of a new series, Shadow Lake Inn features three Amish sisters running very busy quaint inn for their parents. When Abby, the oldest sister finds a wounded man in the lake the mystery begins. 'Jonah' has amnesia which adds to the mystery. He's attracted to Abby but flashbacks and being English complicates everything. Readers will enjoy trying to unravel the mystery. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Recommended to readers who enjoy Amish fiction.

This was a wonderful, but gripping book that grabs you in the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. Beginning with Abigail, strolling on the beach near her home, when she finds a half drowned, injured man on the beach. Who is he? Where did he come from? Why is he here? She doesn't know, and when he revives, he doesn't know either. He deals with his memory loss throughout the story. Abigail decides to call him Jonah, because Lake Eerie has spit him out on the shores. Near the end of the book, his memory returns, just as danger comes to the Inn and the King family that he has been staying with. Very exciting tale I did not want to put down!

Lovely Amish story, not your usual story but very enjoyable.
Abigale finds a stranger near death on the lake beach, she rescues him and hides him from her family as he is nit amish. He has lost his memory and slowly they fall foreach other. Her parents are not happy with the situation but as time goes on the man who they call Jonah, gains the trust of the family, but still tries to regain his memory and who he is.
Quick read and enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book because the author did a good job in making her book unique in its own way.
A young Amish lady finds an “Englischer” lying facedown on the beach with a gunshot wound and amnesia. The caring side of her makes her want to take care of him and nurture him back to health. One way in doing so is by making him a memory quilt that reflects different memories as he recalls them. Some good and some bad. Did someone leave him for dead? Will they come looking for him to make sure they finished the job? This book contains a little bit of suspense and compassion and keeps you guessing throughout the book.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my review and honest opinion.

Lenora Worth is one of my favorite authors but this just didn't do it for me. I read the whole story because of promising to give a review in exchange for the book but it was definitely a chore to finish it. I thought the characters were lackluster and non descript. I am not bashing the author I am just saying this story wasn't interesting to me.

Abigail and her family run an Inn near Lake Erie. One day as she and her sisters were walking on the beach they found a man who had been shot and hit over the head and nearly drowned. They took him back to the Inn and nursed him back to health but he had lost his memory.

This was an interesting book and had a lot of suspense in it as well. If you like Amish romances and suspense, this is the book for you. Well plotted.

This was not at all your typical Amish fiction book. It was so much better!!! I have never read an Amish fiction story like this one. I really enjoyed it and I am so extremely happy to see there are more in this series. Most readers will be able to relate to one or a couple of the characters in this story. I almost would like to see this book as a TV series as well. I will be recommending this to others as well as anyone wanting a easy feel good read. Loved this book!!!
