My favorite Suzanne Stabile book so far! I enjoyed going into more depth with the Enneagram and learning more about triads and centers. I'm so grateful for Suzanne's practical teaching and engaging writing style. There is so much information packed in this book that I'll definitely be returning to it for years to come.

I liked that this book explores the enneagram through the Triads, as this brings a new level of understanding to those who have already ready some books on the enneagram. Unfortunately I found this book to be in need of much editing as it was redundant and sloppy. I read an Advance Review Copy from NetGalley, which are usually pretty well edited by the time we can access them, but maybe this one was not. I would give what I read a 3 star rating but since the final copy may have been better, but hopefully the final copy is better.

I love love love Suzanne Stabile’s work. This was no exception! Such deep knowledge and full of great ideas and thoughts. Suzanne pushes all readers to a kinder, more loving position through this book. I would recommend reading this after The Road Back to You.

I wanted to like this book, as I am a big fan of the author, her co-authored book The Road Back to You, and every podcast interview I listen to her give. However, I have been disappointed in the author's solo written books (this one and The Path Between Us). This book became repetitive and didn't seem to add much in terms of practical advice on spiritual practices that each type can use. I love listening to the author in podcast interviews--she has so much wisdom to share and relatable stories to vividly illustrate each type. Speaking seems to be more her gift than writing; her stories lacked detail and fell flat and her suggestions were redundant.

Another winner for Suzanne Stabile! This one is full of Enneagram wisdom on our growth and stress numbers. I love how Suzanne often elevates others' voices to give a "fuller shape" to each number. While there's not space to talk about each number too much, with 9 to cover, there's plenty of depth for the space given. I'm grateful once again for the teaching of Suzanne Stabile, and her gentle voice comes through The Journey Toward Wholeness.

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to find much in this book that I hadn’t already heard in Enneagram Journey podcasts or the Life in the Trinity seminars that I have done, but I found much that I could think over and apply to my own transformation. The second half of the book was particularly helpful for me. So I would just say that even if you have done a “deep dive” into some of these topics it might be helpful to dive a little deeper still.

I like the way the book is arranged and the way Christ is honored in the midst of the teaching. This is a book I can recommend.

I recieved a free unedited galley to read in exchange for my honest opinion.

As an enneagram enthusiast, I am well versed in most things enneagram. Suzanne Stabile is an icon in the enneagram world. I've read her books, listened to her podcasts, and so on. When I saw she was coming out with something, I was naturally curious and interested to read it.

Although the enneagram compasses such a vast amount of material, I wondered how she would touch on it in this book that would make it somewhat different than what she has already covered. I found that this book covered different areas in the enneagram that sometimes get looked over.

As a type 4, I am well versed in my core strengths, motivations, fears, why I am the way I am, etc. This book moved beyond that though. It taught me about what centers I use most- feeling, thinking, doing. It focused a lot more on what I am like when I am experiencing anxiety and stress.

I think this book offers great insight into the enneagram and allows you to move past the surface level information you are often provided when studying it.

I received an ARC of "The Journey Toward Wholeness" by Suzanne Stabile in exchange for an honest review.

I'm such a huge fan of this series, however I feel like much of this book was a rehashing of a lot of the work of Don Riso. For those who don't want to read the big blue book, this text is a beautiful summary of his work and its implications on our lives. I've already started using some of the text with my friends!

4 stars - Great!

This is just the sort of book that begs to be read in print so you can underline and highlight and write in the margins! I will definitely be reading this again.

For me, this an intermediate level Enneagram resource - best for folks who know their numbers and have started digging into what that means. This focuses on centers of intelligence (head, heart, gut) and stances (aggressive, dependent, withdrawing).

The content is balanced out with fun stories from the author. Stabile fans, and Enneagram enthusiasts should be sure to pick this one up!

Thanks to NetGalley and IV Press for a digital ARC of this book.

I always have time for Suzanne Stabile's work on the Enneagram, and while this didn't feel as focused as her past two books on this, this has some great points on dealing with stress, both in general and in response to the last 18 months of a global pandemic.

There's some great stuff in here about recognizing your number's reaction to stress and the centers you don't use as often and how those can be used to bring more balance.

Suzanne Stabile is an instrumental voice in the world of enneagram teaching, and I am pleased to be able to read and review this advance copy of The Journey Toward Wholeness.

As a 4w5 I have a fairly good grasp of teaching for my particular number, and familiarity with the other numbers. However, the approach of this book was completely unique. I found the guidance on thinking, feeling, and doing very insightful and learned more about myself and those around me.

I'd recommend this book for anyone with a basic background in the enneagram who wants to dig deeper.

Suzanne Stabile is THE enneagram teacher, in my opinion. I’ve read her books, listened to her podcast, watched some teachings, and recommend it ALL, this book included.

This is definitely a 201 level enneagram book, best read after you have a clear understanding of your own number and are ready to go deeper. Start with The Road Back to You, for sure.

Really enjoyed!

This book dives into the ways each Enneagram number responds in stress and security, as well as how each number uses the three centers of intelligence. It was nice to read about the different numbers and how they relate to their environment and process everything. It's helpful to read about your own enneagram number as well as the enneagram numbers of your loved ones so you are able to understand why people may respond to the environment different than you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Suzanne Stabile takes some really hard to understand parts of enneagram teaching and makes them understandable and not only understandable she makes them practical as only she can.
I have loved all of Suzanne’s Enneagram books but particularly like this one because she adds whole sections of practical steps and recommendations of how to grow through your new knowledge and incorporate these teachings into your life for transformation. She’s not just passing on the knowledge in this book she’s is challenging us to do the work for transformation. One of those books you’ll want to keep around and read often.

I’m a big fan of the  wisdom of the Enneagram and what it has taught me about my own self and my ways of relating in the world. Suzanne Stabile’s previous books and podcasts have been instrumental in my learning and understanding of the Enneagram and I was thrilled to be able to read an advance copy of The Journey Towards Wholeness. My thanks to NetGalley and InterVarsity Press for the opportunity to read and review it.

In reading  the book’s description, I felt eager to learn more about the concept of “centres of intelligence”, something I have previously not learned much about. As a 9 with a pretty strong 1 wing, I did know that I am part of the “gut” triad, but didn’t know much about how this “doing” approach (my dominant center) really affected me.  I’ll  be honest, all the terminology is a bit much to digest and actually understand.  Apparently I am in the Withdrawing stance and actually repress doing because I am uncomfortable connecting with the world (which is confusing, but also kind of makes sense).

As with other Enneagram books, there will be parts of this book that may more interesting to you based on which section you are reading and whether you need/want to do a deep dive into all of the other numbers and their complexities. I find I read more intently about the numbers in my own household and people I closely relate to that I know their number, and of course, my own number. There were definitely some “a-ha moments” for me, like realizing why I feel comfortable critiquing other drivers and letting my anger out in my car! (Page 113) I also relate to the idea that 9’s need to “decide more and merge less”.  This is something I would do well to remember more often!.

I especially loved these ideas about change and transformation towards the end of the book… “There is a big difference between change and transformation. Change is when we take on something new. Transformation occurs when something old falls away, usually beyond our control….

The great challenge in seeking transformation is that we have no control over when transformative opportunities
will come our way. So, in seeking wholeness, we need to be aware and willing and open to allowing something new to happen. And we need to resist the temptation to believe we won’t have to give anything up.”

This is definitely a helpful book in furthering your Enneagram knowledge and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to dig a little deeper into all things Enneagram. I do think some of the concepts (especially about the stances) were a little challenging for me to grasp fully and would need to be discussed with someone in real life to help make more practical application in my life.

I love Suzanne Stabile! Listening to her podcast feels like spending time with a wise friend. She brings so much valuable insight and expertise to the conversation around enneagram types. While the enneagram is the personality assessment du jour, it's frustrating to see how much people like to know their type without doing anything about it. I think we forget that the Enneagram really is about the journey of growing and recognizing our weaknesses and moving toward wholeness. Once again, Stabile does this in such an interesting and accessible way. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

A helpful (but very brief) overview for those who want to learn more about where each number goes in stress or security. It's organized well but because each chapter is so short, it skims the surface. From an expert teacher of 30+ years, I expected more. (FWIW I have listened to Suzanne's podcast for a couple years and read both of her other books. This one was the most surface-level.)

Huge fan of the Suzanne Stabile and her books about the Enneagram. I learned so much about myself and my relationships from her. This new book goes even deeper. I will be recommending it to all of my friends.

Thank you for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

The next step in the Enneagram journey. This takes a look at how you can use your enneagram type to take the next steps into your future. I focused on just my number. I felt most of the observations were accurate and the steps seemed practical for what I could do in the future. This will be a good addition to a home library.

“There is a big difference between change and transformation,” Suzanne Stabile writes in The Journey Toward Wholeness. “Change is when we take on something new. Transformation occurs when something old falls away, usually beyond our control.”

In this, her third book about the enneagram, Stabile discusses how soul transformation can occur when we use enneagram wisdom to become more aware of our natural response to stress and situations where we feel out of control – something we all experience every day.

I appreciate how well organized the book is. Readers will easily be able to navigate to information on a specific triad or enneagram number if they are looking for guidance for themselves or for a particular person who already knows their enneagram number. I also found the personal stories, anecdotes, and practical tips included throughout to be very helpful as they flesh out the more academic portions of the book.

This book is written with the assumption that readers already have a base knowledge of the enneagram, and that they probably know their enneagram number. If you’re new to the enneagram, I would suggest you read The Road Back To You, also by Suzanne Stabile and Ian Morgan Cron, before reading The Journey Toward Wholeness.

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone wanting to dig deeper into their study of the enneagram, and for those looking for practical ways to apply enneagram wisdom to their lives.

Thank you to NetGalley and InterVarsity Press for the complimentary advanced copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. #TheJourneyTowardWholeness #NetGalley
