The Box Hill Killer is the fourth instalment in the Detective Chief Inspector Rob Miller Mystery series and in this episode, Rob must risk everything in order to catch a killer. Twelve years ago, husband and father of three Noah Palmer went for a bike ride and never came home. His mutilated body was found on Box Hill a few weeks later. With no evidence, other than a strand of hair found at the crime scene, the case went cold. A young woman is arrested for shoplifting. Her DNA shows a familial match to that found at the Box Hill crime scene over a decade ago. DCI Rob Miller is assigned the case. With an ever-complicated love life and a new boss with whom he does not see eye-to-eye, Rob struggles to find a link between the shoplifting and the cold case.
Just when he thinks he’s got a lead, the case is turned on its head and he's thrust into a murky world where nothing is as it seems. In order to solve this mystery, Rob’s going to have to go off-book, potentially putting his career – and new relationship – on the line. In a deadly game of cat and mouse, the stakes couldn't be higher. This case could destroy him, and everyone he cares about. But the alternative means a killer gets away, and that's not an outcome Rob's willing to consider. This is a compulsive and twisty addition to the series. It moves at a rapid pace, is thoughtfully plotted and features a plethora of surprises and reveals that come at you thick and fast. The crimes are quite gruesome, and I enjoyed the mix of office politics, investigations and Rob’s personal life. Highly recommended.
When several murders are commited in the same way - the same MO - it's natural to link them together and try to find a link between the victims. This cold case is busted open again when a DNA link is found and DCI Rob Miller and his team start to try and find the link between the victims murdered 12 years ago that the original team couldn't. There was a shortage of suspects 12 years ago, what chance has Rob and his team got of doing better.
Enjoyed it immensely.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.
A young girl is wrongly accused of helping in a robbery. DNA is taken from her. It is found to be a familial match to some found on the final victim of the Box Hill killer. Four men were killed in a similar way 12 years previously. Could this be the break the police need to solve this mystery?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The crimes were a bit too gruesome for my liking but I could skip over those bits. The development of the police characters was very good and I enjoyed the 'office politics' parts very much. I guessed the identity of the killer early on but I don't mind. This is the first novel of this author I've read and I'll be looking out for more. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
The Ever Ambitious Miller…
The fourth in the Detective Rob Miller mystery series finds the ever ambitious Miller leading an investigation into a new case with a link to a particularly gruesome past crime - a case that went cold. Fast moving and full of surprise twists to keep the reader on their toes, this is an engaging and compulsive read and a fitting addition to the series.
This is a good, solid police procedural with strong characters.. It's quite a long book but I kept telling myself, just one more chapter until I was so far in to the story that I just had to finish it. The killer came as a total shock to me and I was so impressed by the way the team worked together to bring them down that I almost forgot I was reading fiction. I look forward to the next book in this great series.
This was a decent read, though I felt that one part of it was fairly obvious. I had a hard time remembering who was who in this novel, particularly the other investigators/bosses, but I also haven't read any of the other Detective Rob Miller books so that may be why.
Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Book Four D. Rob Miller Mysteries.
Box Hill is the perfect place to dump a body especially at night, a killer has a full grown man to get rid of, white circle spray painted around the body and carving a five point pentagram star into the naked torso, a devil worship and evil, with the final touch five long candles the scene is set the killers work is done.
Suzie Palmers husband Noah hasn't arrived home he's not normally late she rings D. Sam Lawrence and it's not good news.
Putney central London
Twelve years on D.C.I. Rob Miller with a DNA result wants to reopen the cases of four murders on the known Pentagram Killer who was never caught and it's not a pretty one, things are about to come out of the woodworks and he won't stop till this case is solved.
I enjoyed all this book as every chapter has a massive turn around, so good that have you hanging on, with a slap bang ending that you don't expect. thank you to Netgalley and Joffe publishers
A ritual, everything had to be perfect, 4 cases of a man posed within a white circle, a carving on the chest, within the last 12 years
To be reopened when a robbery and the DNA links it back to these cases. Good flowing plot and enough twists to keep one guessing.
Given ARC by Net Galley and Joffe for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

I hated to read the last book in the series before reading the other two books before this one.
I've bread the first one but I guess I missed the other somehow! Which honestly is a peeve of mine!
But book one The Thames Path Killer was great, along with the last book The Box Hill Killer!
A very suspense filled book that kept me reading not wanting to stop. It kept you on edge wondering what would happen next!
DI Rob Miller, a young, ambitious detective employed by the Murder Investigation Team was such a wonderful character whining just enjoying so dang much! He is smart and determined!
The cleverly crafted plot, suspense from start to finish, is a real page-turner, filled with outstanding characters is a book you will enjoy to jump into a lose a couple hours.... Which is what a love about a good book

This is my second book by this author, and I'm loving it! Both books were awesome! This book had suspense intrigue and lots of twists and turns! It had a great who done it too! I can usually guess at who the bad guy is but this one through me for a loop! I was pretty shocked at the who done it! I highly recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! And a big thank you to Biba Pearce for your amazing words!! It definitely won't be my last book from this author!
Thank you Netgalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This book was very good, I enjoyed it a lot.
D.C. Rob Miller and his team, after a violent robbery, discover that a girl, Rachel, who was wrongfully thought to be in on it, has DNA linking her to a 12-year cold case of 4 murdered men, who were posed inside a white circle, with a pentagram carved into their chests.
The case is a tough one, after all 12 years is a long time to go back and investigate. On top of that Rob is going to be a father, his new Superindent is a strange and unhelpful character, a brutal murder of a psychologist is added to his workload and catching the cold case serial killer is proving almost impossible.
It's well written book, with well fleshed out characters, a twisty mystery and a surprising ending. Very much recommended!

A man is murdered. His body is surrounded by a white circle and a pentagram is carved on his chest. He is the fourth in a series of similar crimes. These are cold cases from twelve years earlier.
What opens the case again is that a young woman was arrested at the site of a robbery and her DNA shows that she has a connection to the last murder, that of Noah Palmer.
DCI Rob Miller and his team catch the case. It turns out to be a twisty and convoluted case complete with surprises and red herrings.
What complicates the case is the strange behavior of the new Superintendent who is Rob and his team’s boss. She actively hinders Rob’s investigation.
This book is very well written and plotted. The transitions are smooth and almost unnoticeable. The plot is very well thought out. I really like the way Ms. Pearce weaves this story. This is a well thought out storyline. She also nicely fleshes out her characters so that the reader has a good grasp of who they are. Very well done, Ms. Pearce.
I want to thank NetGalley and Joffe Books for forwarding to me a copy of this great book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
