An usual settlement in the highlands is the destination for Terrin, that’s where she will find her aunt and with Jaspers help her future.
A really enjoyable and satisfying read from Mary that you won’t want to put down till the end.
Thrilling storyline and entertaining characters, so addictive and great to read.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
I'm really enjoying the Highland Rogues series by Mary Wine and this one was just as good as the others. This time it's Jasper and Terin's story which is full of adventure, danger and passion. Well written, this story kept my attention and interest.
Terin, pretending to be a lad, is on a mission to control her own life and escape the danger she had been in with her dead husband's family. On her way to her aunt's place, she comes upon Jasper and his sister and finds herself in their care. It doesn't take long for Jasper to realize Terin is a lass and not a lad, and he also feels an immediate attraction to her. He needs to make her his wife but she will need a lot of convincing!
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I'm really loving the highland rogues! All of the heroes in this series are fierce, sexy, protective, and loyal. Jasper Chattan stands out in this desirable group because he is the chief of an area that is dedicated to sheltering and empowering women, Larks Point. How could he get any better? Jasper falls for Terin Campbell, a young widow disguised as a lad, who seeks asylum at Larks Point. There's trouble in Larks Point that threatens the couple's budding relationship.
Normally, the couple in an HR novel resolves the conflict together. That does not happen here. I would have liked to see the couple working as a team. However, Jasper and Terin still have a strong relationship that is built on mutual respect, and it was great to watch their relationship blossom.
Larks Point had interesting secondary characters, and I could see a spinoff series based on this area like Tessa Dare's Spindle Cove. Definitely, lots of potential here!
I'm looking forward to seeing who's up next!
I found this quite different to other historical romances I’ve read, in that it is a lot more realistic about the hardships and problems of everyday day. There are a lot of details about clothing in particular, which are fascinating. It is gritty at times and not what I would call an escapist read, yet it is very absorbing all the same.
