Books about books and writing excite me. But this one just did not meet the mark. The writing style was a bit too detailed for my liking and took me out of the story.
3 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Was not able to get into the story. Just fell flat for me in terms of the characters and the overall story wasn’t for me.
This is a delightful read for romance enthusiasts and book lovers who will adore a lighthearted, funny, and swoon-worthy tale of workplace romance, writing, and the power of love to transform even the most unlikely of relationships.
After finishing this book, I found myself having conflicting thoughts. I appreciated the concept of bonding over shared interests, but I struggled with the chemistry between the main leads, the portrayal of the protagonist's family, and the overall feeling I had while reading. The story would have benefited from focusing more on the development of the romantic relationship between Savannah and Will.
I believe that with a more focused approach to the romantic aspect, character development, and the portrayal of the protagonist's family, the book could have been even more engaging and enjoyable.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
A fun, quirky little read that left me feeling all warm & fuzzy.
I do wish there was more romance in it & it was a bit more pacy.
I am always up for a slow burn kind of love, but I wish this one didn't end so fast and that we got more romance within this book.
I am with alot of other reviewers in which saying the family just wrecked this story for me, along with the body issues which I feel always need to come to light but it was a hard mix within this story. I was in and out of this story a lot while reading it, and it took me a while to get through it. I will definitely be reading trigger warnings for her other books, along with wait to see what other reviewers say to see if this would be a romance I could handle.
Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson is a delightful and uplifting romance that celebrates the power of connection and second chances. Ferguson's charming characters and heartfelt storytelling make this a joyous read, as they navigate life's challenges and discover love in unexpected places.
"Meet Me in the Margins" by Melissa Ferguson is a delightful romantic comedy that will capture the hearts of readers. Savannah Cade's dreams are on the brink of realization when Claire Donovan, the editor-in-chief of a renowned romance publishing company, takes an interest in her manuscript. However, there's a catch: Savannah's own company views romance as inferior literature, a philosophy that clashes with her aspirations.
Ferguson crafts a charming tale filled with well-developed characters and a compelling plot. Savannah's journey towards self-discovery is beautifully portrayed, as she grapples with her own insecurities and ambitions. The character development is skillfully done, with each character evolving in believable and heartwarming ways throughout the story.
The pace of "Meet Me in the Margins" is perfect, keeping readers engaged from beginning to end. Ferguson balances the romantic tension with moments of humor and introspection, creating a narrative that flows effortlessly. The witty banter between Savannah and her mystery editor adds an extra layer of enjoyment, while the unfolding romance keeps readers eagerly turning pages.
With its witty dialogue, endearing characters, and well-paced plot, "Meet Me in the Margins" is a gem of a book that fans of romantic comedy won't want to miss. Melissa Ferguson's skillful storytelling and clever plot twists make this novel a delightful and engaging read from start to finish.
Who can resist a bookish book? I love how this featured the process of how books are edited, and it made for a cute dynamic between the two main characters.
I received this novel as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This novel is perfect for the bookish Romance genre type. Sweet and enjoyable, Can be read in a day. Recommend all those who love romance and books.
I love a publishing setting so much. I was drawn in right from the start and couldn't stop reading. I think the relationship and characters fell a little flat for me overall, but it was enjoyable!
Melissa Ferguson is for people who enjoy sweetheart romances with very little chemistry, and I just dont think this author is for me but there is a huge audience that will love them.
A cute story with a readable plot. However, fell a little flat with the pacing and development of the characters. It was cute, but just an okay read. Certainly not horrible, but probably not one I would re-read.
Whilst this was a cute story, with a fun plot and likeable characters, it still lacked some substance. This was a slow-burn, but something was missing between both characters, maybe more time on the page, for me to truly feel their romance.
This is a fun read. The protagonists were sweet and the book was a love letter to readers. I enjoyed the snappy prose!
Any book and romance lover with absolutely find themselves lost in this book. It's an adorable meet cute that moves into a sweet, banter-filled connection, and slow-burn romance. I love that they had such a strong connection through their writing notes back and forth. It's not a steamy book what-so-ever but doesn't miss one bit of that tension and connection overall.
A good that has Savangh who is writing a book and working as an editor. She is able to get a chance at someone looking at her manuscript the problem is it is not her company and she is trying not to get found out. Where she writes as though someone else has found her spot and has started leaving her notes in the margins. Eventually they will meet. For the most part, I liked the story I am getting tired though of families not supporting their daughters since I am a father of four girls and a granddaughter it gets frustrating after a while. Overall a good read.
This was just…not for me. I’m always drawn to bookish books, or storylines that have to do with writers, small towns, and other bookish things. Ultimately I’ve come to realize these just aren’t for me and won’t be requesting them in the future.
Such a cute book! I loved the concept -- reminds me of another favorite book by JJ Abrams! Great job, Melissa!
Really great book I have had so much reading this and getting to know these lovable characters will definitely continue to read books by this author
