Savannah Cade has ambitions beyond her position as a low-level editor at a struggling, academic publishing house. In her spare time she has penned a romance novel, a genre so completely abhorred by her boss she sneaks around at work to write.
One day she accidentally leaves her manuscript in her secret hideaway and returns to find it littered with notes. Leaving notes back and forth, Savannah and her mystery editor polish her novel. But somehow in the process of sharing notes, Savannah and her mystery editor fall in love crafting the perfect romance on page.
She's presented as utterly normal and unremarkable in everyway--though I do think writing a novel negates this(?). She is pretty much a doormat for her family and coworkers. I really enjoyed the subplot with her sister and would've loved to see more of Savannah's life and friends outside of work.
Workplace romances are a weakness of mine, add in a good pen pal trope and I'm pretty much always on board. Meet Me in the Margins was a delightful, sweet, slow burn romance that was so easy to sink into. While there aren't any major surprises here--the plot lays out pretty much as expected--this book delivers on the simple magic of romance.
Thank you so much to @netgalley and @tnzfiction for this ARC, Meet Me in the Margins is out now, make sure to grab your copy!

Similar to the movie You've Got Mail. Honestly at first I was more interested in Savannah and Olivia's relationship than the mysterious editor romance. Their relationship was just so horrible. It didn't make sense to me that Savannah wouldn't be able to afford her own place. Are they really not paying her enough to even be able to afford an apartment? It just wasn't believable with her job title. I did really love William. He was mysterious but relatable. I enjoyed how their romance played out but I do wish we had actually seen more of the notes passed back and forth than just Savannah explaining some of them. The conflict between Olivia and Savannah was handled very well. I like that Olivia, even though just a secondary character, got such great development. I do wish there had been more with the whole family though. Clearly there are some major issues that needed to be addressed. The epilogue was epic! I recommend to anyone who loves a sweet romcom that'll give you a few laughs.

Meet Me in the Margins first caught me attention with the adorable cover and super cute premise. This reads like a love letter to books, which is delightful. What's not to love about a book that champions books and features a secret room devoted to ... you guessed it...books?! The author adds her her own subtle commentary, gently poking fun at the publishing industry's idiosyncrasies. I'm not a fan of the first person narrative in this particular story simply because it allowed the protagonist to ramble. How ironic that the very criticism the mystery editor offered in the story's fictional manuscript applied to Meet Me in the Margins as well. The secondary characters in this novel run the gamut from amusing to unlikeable, particularly the heroine's family members. However, they did demonstrate a tiny bit of personal growth throughout the story, so there's that. For me, the pacing is a bit slow, although it does pick up speed in the second half. Will is my favorite part of the whole novel. I wish we could've seen more of him on the page. Overall, Meet Me in the Margins is a cute feel-good story with a few laugh-out-loud moments.

This wasn’t it for me, boring and I didn’t like the writing style it felt over embellished for lack of a better way to describe it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book as it kept me reading and couldn't and dared not put it down. Melissa Ferguson is fast becoming a favorite.
Meet Me In the margins is set in the publishing word and follows Savannah Cade an editor at Pennington who is secretly writing a romance novel. Her life is changed when she leaves her book and someone scribbles on it. If you love You've got mail you will enjoy this book and believe it or not Savannah was lovable.
I recommend this book for any romance fan. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own
This book is pure literary delight! This story checked all the right boxes for me and left me wanting more. Savannah Cade is an editor at Pennington Publishing working with authors who write non-fiction. But Savannah has a secret love for writing romance. She also has discovered a secret room in the house where the publishing firm is located. When she leaves her manuscript there, it becomes apparent that someone else is also aware of the secret room when she finds all sorts of suggestions in the margins. At first, Savannah's not sure how she feels being on this side of the editing process, but when her own editor tells her all the same advice, she decides to seek out her secret helper. And thus begins a beautiful relationship! Their friendship is adorable, it reminded me of a modern day pen-pal. At the same time, Savannah becomes friends with her new boss. And this leads to a complicated love triangle. This book left me with all the feels...all the good feels!

Clear your calendar because you will have to stay in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee with leading lady Savannah Cade until you finish the last page of Melissa Ferguson's new novel. This literary lover's dream of a book provides elements of manuscript writing, a publishing house, and even a tucked away arc room! The bookish ensemble cast rounds out this five star delight.
Savannah works as an editor at a publishing house, but in her secret life she's finishing her own novel about love. She is true to herself in her writing, since her place of employment doesn't feature the romance genre. Ferguson smartly chose the first-person narrative for the charming Savannah, who is a wonderfully witty, passionate, and appealing young woman. I'm drawn to her for following her heart to achieve her aspirations in life.
When an unrevealed mystery person leaves editing notes in the margins of Savannah's draft, her world is shaken up, both in her head and in her heart. The topsy turvy antics that follow are lively, amusing, and unpredictable. The references of Nashville landmarks, music venues, country music, and the city's lifestyle added pleasure to my love of this book. I commend Melissa Ferguson for allowing readers to meet up with Savannah and her bunch in Nashville for this wonderful read!

I enjoy a sweet, clean love story and this one is just great. For sure I'm going to need to stop saying that I don't read Contemporary Romance and that I don't like the single POV in those books. I also loved the basic story line and its' look at the publishing world that is the background for the story.
Savannah Cade comes from a family of very high achieving women. She would love to uphold that tradition and her younger sister has, but just hasn't found the way there just yet. She fell in love with books in college and is now a junior editor at a highbrow, very intellectual leaning, prestigious publishing company, Pennington Publishing. Unfortunately, that just isn't selling many books these days. She loves her job, but it just isn't feeding her soul. The soul that reads sweet, warm romance. She has been writing a book since college and a chance meeting with an editor from a very successful publisher is intrigued by her book concept and wants to see her manuscript.
Now all she needs to do it polish it up and send it off and she'll be a published author, right? She finds out that it is a lot harder than it seems. She has found a hidden room in the old mansion that is Pennington Publishing's home in Nashville. Savannah mistakenly leaves her manuscript there one night only to discover the next day that a Mystery Editor has made rather scathing notes in the margins. When she comes down after her blow, Savannah discovers her Mystery Editor is right and they begin to rework both her manuscript and her life.
Cute story of an assistant editor who wants to publish her own romance book. Only problem is, it's not very good and gets rejected when she sends it to a publisher-friend. She is given one month to edit the book and submit it again and luckily she has help: someone has been leaving notes on her manuscript and as they write back and forth in the margins, friendship and feelings start to blossom.
This is a feel-good story of finding your feet, accepting help and of course, finding the one 😍
Savanna is a great leading lady, relatable and funny, but the star of this book is Will - constant, competent and cute, you will definitely root for them!
If you're looking for a cute love story that slowly develops without feeling too long, this book is for you. If you want lots of spice and sexual tension, you won't find it here (there is only a few kisses) but I can see it being a perfect beach/summer read!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson fiction and #netgalley for giving me an eARC of this book! The book is out now!
As a book nerd and reader, I will forever be attracted to fiction books that have books on the cover.
Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson captured my heart immediately. I saw the cover and I didn’t have to read the synopsis to know I wanted to read this book.
Savanna is an aspiring romance author, however, she herself has very limited experience in romance herself. Crafted a great hook for a new novel, but her manuscript fell short and was rejected. Someone, at her work, started editing her manuscript and she hasn’t a clue who this person is yet.
Through, post it notes back and forth on her manuscript with the unknown editor, they begin to share personal life stories and Savanna’s heart blossoms.
She hopes her mystery editor be one person, but fears that it is another.
Will they ever meet outside the margins to determine if they have chemistry in person?
This was a fast paced work place meet cute trope. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and it was filled with colorful scenes. Plus we are in the book industry and it was funny hearing about the eccentric authors and how much the editors must go through to ensure they have the best time always.
Thank you NetGalley and UpLit for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest opinion
Meet Me In The Margins is a super cute and fun romantic comedy. I really enjoyed all the characters and the witty humor throughout the story. I love books that have epistolary letters or notes. I think it's so romantic for some reason. This book has those, as the hero and heroine get to know each other over editing a manuscript. The cool thing is that Savannah, the hero doesn't know who her mystery editor is. So it really reminded me a bit of the movie You've Got Mail. So if you liked that movie, I think you'd like this book too. I know I did
*I was given a copy of this book by Thomas Nelson and this is my honest opinion.
In Meet Me in the Margins we follow the story of Savannah, who works at a publishing house that only publishes stuffy books. She is secretly writing a romance novel - something her boss would absolutely not approve of. One day she needs to hide her manuscript in a secret room and comes back to find that someone has started editing her work. Part love story and part mystery, we think we know who the secret editor is - but do we? I am a sucker for books set in the book world and this was a really fun, fast read.
Of note, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I follow Melissa Ferguson on social media and I just adore everything about her! I've been wanting to read her books since I first found her. Meet Me in the Margins was the first book of hers that I picked up. I loved the concept of this one. I love bookish books, and this one about Samantha Cade, an editor at a publishing company, sounded perfect! Honestly, it didn't quite live up to what I had hoped. I found some parts of it fell flat for me. However, I can see why this book is so well loved! There were some awesome elements! I will definitely still be picking up Melissa Ferguson's other books! I can't wait to read them!
Meet Me in the Margins was such a fun book and I really loved it! It was a fun and light read that anyone could just hop into! This book made me fall in love with reading all over again and reminded me why exactly I love it.
I found this book to very cute and quite the comfort read. This book is set in Nashville as we follow Savanah, who is an assistant editor to a publishing house Pennington.. Her employer does not work with authors who publish fiction. Savanah is also wanting to publish her romance manuscript, which he keeps a secret from her employer.
William is the new editor in chief at Pennington Publishing. He has recently been let go from a prestigious publishing company in New York and finds his way into Pennington as his mother is the owner.
This story is told in first person perspective and I think it fits this story quite well. This was a very easy novel to read, quite comforting, cute and made me smile.
3/5
I adore unique fiction, and this is such an interesting premise. I recommend because of the story itself, writing style, and its ability to transport you into a different world.
I loved this book so much! It was a light, fun read where I just wanted to hop into the plot and be friends with the main character, Savannah. I could just relate to her, and I loved her opinions and perceptions of situations throughout the storyline. There is even a magical ARC room that makes me want to move to New York and work for a publishing company! I would highly recommend this book to any bookstagrammer!
When I first read the book description for Meet Me in the Margins, I was immediately drawn into this fun story idea and couldn't wait to check it out... but if I'm being honest, once I actually began reading the story took a bit longer to grab me. It wasn't until several chapters in that I found myself really connecting with the story. For me, this might well be because I generally don't tend to prefer stories written in third person (though I certainly think for this particular story, this POV worked well)... but whatever the reason, I am glad that I read on. Once I finally got into the groove of the book, I absolutely couldn't get enough. I enjoyed the back and forth banter and the humor of the story, and the romance was wonderfully done. This is certainly one that had me smiling as I was reading. It was sweet and funny... and definitely appealed to the book lover in me too! Overall, a very good read and one that fans of romantic comedies are sure to want to experience for themselves.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
A very sweet book that gives an inside look at the publishing world. The romance was definitely a slow burn, but I liked that the two characters got to know each other. Savannah and Will spend time as coworkers and friends, and also in a secret editor and writer relationship. Their notes to each other are funny and kind, and help them to realistically learn about each other. Is it thrilling? Not exactly, but it's nice, and isn't nice also sometimes just...nice, and what you need?
There's very low drama in the book, you kind of always know where it's heading. If you want to see how a manuscript gets edited, and sent out, and rejected, and maybe then published, this is a great book for that! And if you want a romance in the background of that as well, pick this one up.
Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
I just finished this book and absolutely loved it! I’ve liked the other books by this author, but THIS ONE knocked it out of the park. The romance was perfection. The humor was so good. And the setting? A publishing house with special attention given to the ARC room? That’s a book lover’s dream! The romance was so swoony, and I felt the heat all without any explicit details. That’s romance at it’s finest! This is a feel good, happy read that I highly recommend!
