This is such a fun read.
Savannah Cade actually has an interesting job that she likes in a publishing house that eschews 'lowbrow' commercial genres. She also got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to submit her romance manuscript directly to the best romance editor in the business, if only she'd manage to finish editing it. Add in living with her perfect sister who's engaged to Sav's ex, the handsome son of the owner becoming the new VP and editor, and a mystery editor pushing her to write the best romance possible, and you've got a series of zany and fun chapters one after another.
It's great to see how Ferguson develops the different characters both in relation to Savannah and to what's happening in their lives in the background. There are many chances to cheer for Savannah and join her in the stresses of secretly writing a book. Not to mention the great chemistry between Savannah and William and the brilliant interactions they have over the course of the book.
It really is a love letter to book lovers and even to the not-so-pretty publishing industry itself, full of all the things that make rom-coms great and even better messages to learn from.

Extremely happy thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the fantastic early read!

I received an ARC from the publisher and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
Meet Me in the Margins is a cute story revolving around the tough atmosphere of working in publishing, both as an editor for a publishing house and aspiring writer on the side. And while this book isn’t mind blowing, I did appreciate the intent with telling this story.
I really liked the way it highlighted the inner workings of a publisher and the business decisions made. The particular publisher is “highbrow,” and we find out that the publisher is struggling to stay afloat partially due to that reason. I did like how it gradually became obvious that Will wasn’t purely a nepotism hire, but actually had some valuable ideas to modernize the company.
I did find bits of Savannah as an aspiring writer that resonated with me. While I did want more of the marginalia and her interactions there with the mystery editor to be shown, as opposed to just being told, I did appreciate how they made her grow as a writer.
However, I wasn’t a huge fan of Savannah otherwise. There wasn’t much that I found to root for or sympathize with. It was also so obvious based on how the story was structured that Will was the mystery editor. I mean, if she was interesting, I feel like the predictability would be a bit less grating.
This is a fun, lighthearted book, and I can see why it would work for some. If you’re looking for a cute, bookish read, you might enjoy this a bit more than I did.

This is a cute, quick read about Savannah Cade, a book editor at a non-fiction publishing house who dreams of writing a romance. After leaving her work in progress behind in what she thought was a secret room at her office, she finds the beginning pages marked up with comments and criticism. Who is this mystery editor? Well, as the story progresses, the reader will have no problem figuring out who it is, though Savannah doesn't.

I wanted more romance from this. Will isn't with Savannah enough and when he is I just didn't buy into their chemistry. I liked reading about the publishing industry, though. Also, the side story with Savannah's sister, Olivia, and her fiancé, Ferris, was interesting.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson, UpLit Reads and the author for a gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the start, I loved Will. He moved from New York to Nashville to help his mom’s struggling publishing company and leaving behind a more known one in the past. His mom’s publishing is know for their unique taste in authors and topics. However, his first run in with savannah is awkward to say the least. Savannah stop a manuscript all over the office floor during a meeting but what nobody know is that it is HER manuscript that she’s been working on for years. She puts in back in a hidden room in the ARC room of the publishing house (ps I would LOVE to visit an arc room one day). When she comes back to check on her manuscript, she finds it’d be edited my a mystery person. Savannah sends her manuscript to a colleague at another publishing house. It wasn’t except but has potential only if she can clean in up before Claire retires. So the new plan is in place. The mystery man will help savannah with edits but they made a deal where they won’t see each other or know who the other is and set times to work in the secret room. Will Savannah find out who her mystery editor is? Will her book ever he published? You’ll have to meet me in the margins to find out 😏

The book started a little bit slow and confusing. BUT it is worth it. I thoroughly hated quite a few of the characters that were later put into place (absolutely thrilled with it). It’s such a unique and cute story that I wanted to know more. It’s a light quick read with all the happy feelings a romance should have. I finished it within a few hours. Highly recommend!

I unfortunately had a great deal of trouble getting into "Meet Me in the Margins". The writing style was wooden and overly descriptive, taking away the fun you normally get when reading a rom com. I also felt that the main character had too many secrets, and it was difficult to root for her.

This is a quick, charming read; I loved the setting of a publishing house (my not-so-secret childhood dream job was to become an editor at an elite publishing house), and the premise of Savannah and her Mystery Editor exchanging notes in the secret ARC room added an air of enticing mystery to the story. Unfortunately, the amount of cliched plot points and the "reveal" of the identity of the editor at the end of the book fell flat for me. Because this is a single POV, it was tough to feel connected to Will and his feelings too.

If you need something light with a G-rated spice level and don't mind the cliches, grab this romance when it comes out.

I wanted to love this SO MUCH. The premise was so intriguing and books about writers are always my fave, BUT...

I could not connect with the writing, the characters fell flat, and I honestly just found myself not interested to see where the story went. I really hope others enjoy this and that it just wasn't for me, but my high hopes were crushed :(

This was so cute! It had a bit of a predictable storyline but the writing was strong enough that I was still totally engaged despite guessing early on what was going to happen. I really liked Will as a character and how he was crafted - like a bit of a Mr Darcy-ish stoic but with a softer side that comes out easily. He was most of the reason I enjoyed this book. I didn’t love the side plot with Ferris and Olivia but I guess conflict has to come from somewhere. Overall, a really fun, sweet, enjoyable read

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This book was adorable. Two-person love triangles are my favorite trope (think You've Got Mail)- angst with a HEA? Yes please! - and this one was about books! So what is not to love? I just sped through this book in one sitting. We're talking "I forgot to eat dinner and 4 hours went by" sped through this. This comes out the day after Valentine's day (February 15th) and it is a great addition to any romance books you want to read this month. Key facts about this book: it has a small independent publishing house, an editor who wants to be a writer, and a mysterious editor of her manuscript. It has some hilarious lines, and it pulls off the trope so well - without any of the creepy things that this can normally have. I was highlighting so many lines as I read because I was laughing at them, things like: "Sam, who took a week's vacation last year to go to Branson, Missouri. Branson, Missouri." and "'The public's attention is not on the great harmonica players of the nineteenth century.' 'Then we draw their attention to it. That is our duty. We create a culture. We enrich society.'" Maybe these kinds of lines aren't funny to other people but they definitely were making me giggle!

Was the main character kinda dumb at times? Sure. Would a lot of this have been solved if people just talked to each other? Absolutely. But it was a fun, sweet read that made me feel good when I needed exactly that. Flawed characters in a realistic sense, with a HEA/HFN, about books. What more could I have wanted?! 4.75/5

I really liked this book! It’s a cute bookish no-steam romance with a side of being yourself. I really loved Savannah’s gumption and determination to follow her dreams, and the You’ve Got Mail vibes of falling for a secret man! Will was a dream boat of a boss and man. This book is perfect for fans of The Hating Games’ workplace romance, small publishing house setting, and overall bookish love story.

I was so excited for this book based on the description. A young editor who harbours a secret desire to be a writer falls for a mysterious man through margin notes. I mean, it sounds like every bookstagrammer’s dream. However, this book fell short for me. A likeable enough main character and a hunky leading man, but little chemistry developed between them. More opportunities for the leads to interact in outside of the margins may have made me take more interest. Thank you to Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Paperback for the e-ARC version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I found the concept of the plot to be fun and enjoyable. However, I did not feel a strong attachment to the characters and the romance between them.

I seriously adored this book. I loved the characters, the concept, the setting, just everything about it! The writing was easy to read, which made this a quick read for me. Savannah was very relatable because of her love for books. I loved that they fell in love through writing as well as in person. It was so neat to see the how the publishing world works. Meet me in the margins is an engaging romance book that has a sweet ending. This was my first book my Melissa Ferguson and it definitely won’t be the last!

I really enjoyed this! I was sucked in from the beginning. I feel like the writing style made the entire book easy to follow, and just so fun to read. I smiled throughout, giggled too! I was in love with both of the main characters, they were easy to like! I would definitely recommend this book to others. It was quick, fun, cute, and overall a really good read.

Savannah Cade is an editor at Pennington Publishing by day, wannabe romance novelist by night. The problem is that Pennington doesn't publish romance and now she has to keep it quiet from her new boss Will Pennington. Her secret may be out when a mystery editor finds her manuscript and offers to help Savannah revise her novel. Rewrites and romance - love begins to blossom between the anonymous pair.

Meet Me in the Margins is a charming, contemporary, work-place romance. The characters are sweet and relatable. The backstories are well developed. The first half of the book is a little slow but the plot stays on course to pick up in the second half.

This romance is PG so if you’re looking for something spicy this is not the book for you.

This is the first book that I have read by Savannah Cade but I look forward to reading some of her other works in the future.

This was freaking adorable.

I loved it. I loved that this was about a person writing a book and finding love in the margins. How her mystery editor captured her heart. Also, I loved how many times I laughed and how it all ended.

Beautiful story.

No sexual content. So if you are sensitive to that you can go into it knowing there is no surprises 😂

I feel that the only thing I didn't like was how it was really obvious that it was will and I felt like maybe it could've been more mysterious.

Even though there wasn’t much of the actual in person relationship, I still really enjoyed this book! I loved the banter and the different scenes throughout the book. It didn’t all take place within the manuscript, so it was nice to have it broken up with work and her sister! I was kind of bummed though that a lot of the good romance parts I love didn’t happen until the last chapters. I wanted like 10 more chapters because I didn’t want their story to end!

Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for the gifted book!

Hi, hello, this quote has my number: "My face, like all good-southern-girl faces, doesn't seem to know how to respond to direct eye contact with anything besides a smile, and to my horror, I feel my lips begin to creep up on the sides."

Also this made me seriously LOL: "Her legs are so skinny in her black leggings they look like a granddaddy longlegs racing on a hamster wheel."

Take into consideration these quotes and some kisses only steaminess with a bookish theme set in Nashville and you have yourself a gem of a rom com read. This book was a DELIGHT to read and I was so entranced by this story that I had to keep reading to find out how they would come to a HEA.
If you like kisses only rom coms, you need to read this book.

It’s almost Valentines Day and Love Is In The Air…so today I have a review for a cute bookish book for you, that might just be the perfect Valentines gift for a bookish friend and/or lover in your life!

Meet Me In The Margins by Melissa Ferguson is set to be published on February 15th 2022.

So, what’s not to love?!

Let’s start off by saying that this one reminded me of a crossover of You’ve Got Mail and a Hallmark movie, but in the best possible way; it was cute, fun, very charming and entertaining.

And the fact that it is a book about a book and a publishing house, made it definitely interesting for me. Don’t expect anything too serious though from that aspect - as I mentioned it is definitely a very light read.
One thing I would have hoped for was more romance. I think there could have been more of it and a bit more steam (I would say that there was none, so definitely a very ‘clean’ book in that aspect…) ;)

All in all, Meet Me In The Margins is heartwarming and adorable.

Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
