If you're searching for a light, fun & funny, clean romance to take to the pool or beach with you, I'd recommend this one.

I loved:

The concept. A secret book nook in a workplace, where our main characters leave notes for each other, one of them not being aware of who the other is? It had a lot of potential.

The pacing. Pretty fast-paced, so easy to get through, and the writer did a fantastic job writing some of the dialogues. Made me laugh out loud more than once.

What needs to be improved:

If we would have got more insight into William, and Savannah, and possibly gone a bit deeper into their lives, and their thoughts; if we have met them just a little bit more, I would have enjoyed this so much more. I felt like we just knew the basics we need to know to follow the storyline.

More romance. Sure, it's a clean romance, but I felt like they were building a bond that was intended to be romantic, but I felt more as if they were great friends or kindred spirits. I didn't feel any spark, chemistry, angst... I felt it lacked in that department.

Overall, my impression is that if there was more romance incorporated, more chemistry between characters, and just a tiny bit more time invested into truly shaping & bringing these characters to life, I would have possibly loved it more. I had fun, but it's not a book I was bouncing off the walls for.

I apologise to the publisher in advance for a belated review, due to family issues.

This was almost a DNF for me. I found it incredibly boring and the heroine was insecure and pathetic. There was lukewarm chemistry at best and only a single kiss. Very disappointing!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me access to this novel in exchange for my honest review. I thought this novel was cute but it didn't tick all my boxes. Savannah is an editor at Pennington Publishing but has also been working on her own novel (under a pen name of course!) on the side. The company she works at is undergoing a structural change and the son of the owner has taken over -- surprise, surprise, they butt heads. Savannah hides her manuscript in a secret closet/room and when she returns to retrieve it, finds someone has left her editorial suggestions. Savannah is very proud and at times this really irked me, but she starts a correspondence (and quasi flirty relationship) with this mystery editor.

Throw in two book fair/conferences; her working relationship with an older eclectic author; a poor relationship with her sister (who is engaged to Savannah's ex-boyfriend); some body shaming (from the sister); and Savannah's tight deadline for her novel's revision and you get a cute women's fic novel with a side of romance.

Spoiler: No physical intimacy aside from a kiss.

DNF-ed at 15%, I just could not get into the book :( I've heard a lot of really great things from other readers on instagram, but I just think maybe this one wasn't for me. The beginning really wasn't drawing me in at all.

I love books. I love publishing and I loved this.
With a tiny sneak peek into what it's like living and breathing books as an editor in a small publishing house to the fears and trauma of trying to get your own manuscript published all the while dealing with your day-to-day struggles- this was such a lovely yet exhausting read!
I really felt for Savannah with her high-strung, over-achieving family and oppressive work colleagues. No wonder she didn't have the confidence to go after what she really wanted.
But Will was the true hero here and he would definitely be my book boyfriend!
A lovely rom-com with a brain and a heart and set in the world of books- nothing I love more.

This is a cute love story about writing and the publishing industry.

When the two characters saw each other, I could definitely feel greatchemistry, but I feel like it didn't happen often enough, and fast enough, and long enough. We were at 65% and it was still very much business like.
All in all, I did enjoy this very much! I just wish the romance plot had happened a bit faster.

I absolutely love the plot of this book, the mystery editor in the secret room at work, who's helping her so she can send her manuscript in time. It's all very entertaining.

I always love reading about writing. I love that it's raw in here. That you see how hard the publishing industry is. How rough it can be to be told "no". To get a rejection after all the work you put in. But then you get back up and you put in the effort.
I love that she talks about how you basically need to already have a fanbase to for agents to be interested in you. But to get a fanbase, you need to put in time and effort, and to do so, you lose so much time that you could use to actually write your book. It's a shitty circle of hell. I love that she talked about that in the book.

Sweet romance that has a little fun mystery to it. Slow burn that was just about right for the romance. However some downfalls. Too many characters that are never fleshed out. Savannah's family is also underdeveloped, but also toxic. They all expect her to be happy with her boyfriend dumping her for her sister. Will kinda mentions the toxicity at one point, so the author knew, but it's barely dealt with.

I love books about books and this one was great! I also love books where people fall for others sight unseen, and it always turns out to be a sort of disaster. This was great!

There was so much about Meet Me In The Margins that I loved. Who doesn't love a woman who feels stilted in her life and has a workplace romance while trying to pursue her dreams? Falling in love with someone through their written words? Sign me up.

It falls apart a little in the details. Moments added to bring drama to the book instead take me out of it. The ending, meant to me a big romantic scene, made me think about the lack of acknowledgement of possible conflicts in the workplace. Complete reality is not needed in romance, just give me enough not to have to think about it.

This was a good read. It was fun and the way it explored the world books and publishing, was great.

The characters were likable. The plot was good. But, in the end, it left me with the feeling of wanting more.

For a book about editing and not writing cheesy love stories, it really was cheesy. The couple annoyed me. The main character just let EVERYONE walk over them. Like I'm sorry but if my boyfriend of 8 years left me for my sister and she was totally into the relationship, I would lose my shit. The whole family was toxic AF and the MC was such a doormat.

A great read. Beautifully written, emotional and heart-wrenching, and characters that have a depth to them. I truly enjoyed this one!

Savannah Cade is a serious book editor with a guilty secret – she is secretly writing a very unserious romance novel. After nearly revealing her hidden hobby in a staff meeting, she quickly stashes her manuscript in an out of the way office. The next day, she discovers someone has found her pages and made notes in the margins. As Savannah continues to edit her work, the mystery editor continues to comment, and Savannah finds herself falling for him. She just wishes she knew who he was!
I liked this novel. It was cute and sweet, but I wanted to like it more. The characters took a long time to get together making the pacing seem to drag a bit in the middle and the ending slightly rushed. Despite these minor flaws, I enjoyed the novel and would recommend it to library patrons wanting a sweet, smart contemporary romance. 3.5 stars.

This was a sweet book in general, And the premise was different, but as a romance it missed the most important part, the chemistry. An ok read that could be pushed further.

Cute rom-com novel. Savannah is an editor at a publishing company and she secretly is writing a romance novel. She accidentally leaves her manuscript in the Book Nook. After she retrieves it, she finds there are notes written on the side of the margins. She goes on the defensive when she sees the criticism. As she continues, she does start to pour her heart into the mysterious editor for her book and falls in love with the mystery person.

What I truly appreciate was how this novel gave a good look at how the publishing world works from development to the actual manufacturing to the books hitting the stage for authors to meet their public. It was very interesting.

That said, what I did not care for is Savannah's family dynamics. Rule #1 - it is not acceptable to date one's ex. It is just wrong on so many levels. Then Rule #2 - to read the family is all, "Oh get over it," attitude just made my blood boil. Talk about betrayal by those closest to you. Whatever happened to "Blood is thicker than water?!" Thankfully there's a certain man who tells her, that her family and not her is in the wrong. I just couldn't get over that.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Books for sharing this e-arc with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This was such an adorably charming romance. I love any book centered around books and this one was absolutely delightful. The characters felt real, as did their connection, and it was a fun, fast read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson was such a fun premise, with a bookish setting and a fun, unique premise that was quick and easy to read. I did find that it took a bit long to get into the actual margin note part of the story. When we did finally get those notes, it was a smaller portion of the plot than I was hoping for. While I really enjoyed our two main characters and the interactions we did have, by the end I felt there were a a bit too many subplots going on (i.e., everything with Ferris) and not enough of the romance. Overall - cute and enjoyable, but not a new favorite.

Thank you to the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to love this. I truly did. But as much as I can usually enjoy a rom-com, something about this was just too much.

It reads like a Hallmark movie. Which I’m sure is something that will appeal to loads of readers. Sadly, it’s just not for me.
