A quick fun read with loveable characters. I love bookstore mysteries! The second book in the series has the character interactions more developed. Enjoyed the read! Thanks #netgalley and #Crookedlanebooks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is much improved from the first book. The characters are much more likable and developed. The story is more complex and developed this time around too. The mystery is well-plotted with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader involved in solving the mystery.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone..

I loved this book! It was a fun and easy read, with all the juicy components of a mystery. I have not yet read the 1st book from this series, but it wasn’t necessary to understand the plot in this novel.

The main character, Summer, is still grieving the death of her mother (which I assume is the premise of the 1st book) and adjusting to running Beach Reads; the local bookstore her mother owned. The bookstore holds community events to have readers connect with their favorite authors. The newest event is panel of mystery authors, one of which wrote about a murder that happened on the island in the late 80’s. As the story unfolds, Summer reconnects with her half-siblings (which she seemingly found out about in the 1st book) and begins to learn more about them and their connection to the murder that happened all those years ago.

I believe the author did a great job at giving life to each of the characters stories, as well as connecting each of them to the larger storyline. I felt many of them were relatable, especially Summer, with having to make decisions about her future, while grieving her mother and getting to know a new side of her family.

I now look forward to reading this first book in this series and any future ones that may follow.

Once Upon a Seaside Murder is the second in the series. Summer Merriweather is the owner of Beach Reads. a book store that she inherited from her mother, Hildy. She lives on Bridget Island in her childhood home with her mother's parrot, Mr. Darcy. Her cousin, Piper and daughter, Mia as well as her Aunt Agatha, her mother's sister are the main characters in the story. Poppy is her assistant in the store as well as many of her mother's friends who help her with the store. They are having an author's signing in the store with several authors attending. There is another part of the story where she has discovered that she is related to the Bellamy family as her mother had an affair with one of their sons. Sam and Fatima are her half brother and sister.. She meets her grandmother who carries their family secret. The two stories merge as one as one of the authors, Mimi has written a book about a long ago murder called Mermaid Point Murders. This is where the two stories merge into one. The reader is taken along with the many other characters in the book on a wild ride of many adventures to solve the mystery to a surprising end. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

Secrets Are Spilled…
The second in the Beach Reads Mystery series and another visit to the beach side bookstore. Christmastime does not exactly pan out the way Summer had envisaged when secrets are spilled that just might become deadly. Another delightful instalment and an enjoyable read with a tightly knitted plot, a colourful cast of characters and an ideal backdrop.

I love everything about the book and the series in general. The plot is very well written with such loveable characters. The setting of being that of a bookstore on the beach is the perfect spot, no matter the time of year. The book kept me in suspense with all it's twists and turns that kept me not only guessing where the story would go next, but wanting more!

Kindle Copy for Review from Net Galley and Crooked Lane Books.

I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

It’s the season of magic and murder.

Secrets of the past lead will lead to an actual murder from the past. Summer uncovers her dead mom secret that will have people willing to keep it quiet as she teams up with long lost family members to solve the old case.
It is a delightful addition in this relatively new series.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley on Kindle, for review. It is character driven with some references to cities, but it has no real setting other than a bookstore…The protagonist is a college professor who inherits a bookstore…the mystery is present and in the past…she sets to trying to solve both…there are so many minor characters that it is difficult keeping track…however, it is a quick read and entertaining. Love the Shakespeare references.

I enjoyed reading this book, which features Summer Merriweather.
When the bookstore hosts a murder mystery panel, no one expects to be involved in an actual murder investigation.
I enjoy the easy way the characters interact. The story itself flowed smoothly and I was anxious to see how it turned out.

This book is the perfect cozy mystery read. Prepare to curl up in your blanket with a nice hot beverage and a candle to enjoy Once Upon a Seaside Murder.
Plunge back into the world of Maggie Blackburn for another ride with the Beach Reads Mystery.

When Summer goes home for the holidays, she discovers that her dearly missed mother had a strange interest in a case that took place on Brigid's Island 30 years ago. Summer tries to solve the case that inspired an author for her book.

The book is quite fast-paced and the case is well-described. Everything ties up nicely for a good master novel.
We follow Summer Merriweather once again to solve the mystery, a character already developed in the previous book.

The holidays are coming and it’s a festive time on Brigid’s Island as holiday shoppers turn out in full force. But it’s not such a happy time for Summer Merriweather as she finds a tie to her parents from a long ago murder in town. While the murder was never solved, the author of the book based on the murder visits the local library and is soon in danger. Summer and the members of her mothers reading club work to keep the author safe while also trying to solve the cold case. With hopes that the case will finally be solved, there’s a chance that the murderer is still around, willing to kill again to keep their secret safe and putting Summer on the killer’s naughty list.

I stumbled on the first book when it came out and quickly added the series to my must read list. I haven’t been disappointed yet and can’t wait for each new release to come out. Each entry captures my attention and keeps me turning the pages as I try to figure out whodunit.

I loved book 1 and was thrilled to have the second book in the series. I found the plot a little unbelievable but because the character are so amusing I kept at it. Summer and her bookshop and her friends are like family--that's what I enjoy the most.

I've become a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery. A new to me author and worth a read.
