Sand and snow? kind of idea. This was cute and fun and a perfect little low stakes Christmas seasonal read.
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
Ready for a fun heartwarming story? Then may I suggest Christmas by the Coast? A fun feel good holiday read, perfect for anytime reading. Perfect for an afternoon escape read.
Just imagine the sandy beaches of Montauk, Long Island, the view, the crashing of the waves.
If only her old boyfriend, ex-soldier Mack Wyatt wasn't there and more determined than ever to win her back.
Her priority while in the Hamptons is her grandfather and comforting him as he's grieving the passing of her grandmother.
Harriet Cookson and Mack Wyatt were pen pals when he was off fighting in Afghanistan, but things moved on and Mack had a hard time adjusting to things that happened to him.
Fun, entertaining and emotional. This book has well-crafted characters, and I will be on the lookout for more by her.

Baggot never disappoints me!
Fun, quirky characters that easily wormed their way into my heart.
With the added bonus of a sandy snowy setting 😍
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
I really like this author I’ve read a few of her books now and they are joyful. I lost myself in this one and loved the festive and beach feels I got from it. Festive books are my favourite genre topped by beach based books. Eventually I will live by the seaside. This book had it all going on and was exactly what I needed for a quiet night in and and early night with the fan on!
Thank you for this arc.
I enjoyed this festive offering from a wonderful author. Mandy is not afraid to tackle hard and harsh issues and parts of the human experience, and this is also true with this novel. I enjoyed reading about Mack and his deployment in Afghanistan. A lovely second chance romance, perfect for fans of this trope.
I loved this book, it was so Christmassy and romantic and a complete tonic. The wonderful array of characters in the community and their weird and wonderful traditions was just lovely and served as a beautiful backdrop to the tentative renewal of Harriet and Mack's relationship. Definitely one to get you in the Christmas spirit.
A decent Christmas story, it was the title that caught my eye, the content itself was a little different for a Christmas read and there was a lot of topic in this book, grief and loss combined with PTSD and then of course the rekindling of a past relationship. Though it was a slow burn romance, I did enjoy it, it was refreshing to see community spirit and how good it is to have friends around us when we are going through difficult times in in our life, but the characters are so relatable and loveable, but more than anything it shows us that we our family in difficult times.
A really heart warming, cute story, really enjoyed it.
With thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the free ARC in return for my review.
I remember when I had such a hard time being able to get into Christmas books and now I love them. I am always excited when I find stories like this and I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on this one. The Author did an amazing job keeping you entertained and continue to pull you in with this one.. The sweet and romantic moments didn’t feel corny or overdone. The main characters writing letters to each other really made this book even more special and heartfelt. I can’t believe how much I loved this book. Plot was great. Writing was so good. Definitely pick this up when you want to feel all warm and cozy on the inside.
Leider habe ich es nicht geschafft das Buch in der Weihnachtszeit zu lesen, daher keine Rezension von mir.
what a brilliant book this is sure to happen in life and harriet had a mixed life but turned out for her in the end by getting rid of ian and ending with the man of her dreams mackey and peace of mind for her dad and grandpa and her gran leaving all the festivities to be achieved after she had gone
I enjoyed reading this book, full of colourful characters and an interesting storyline. I don’t normally like to read books set in America, but this book doesn’t have the Americanisms that usually put me off. Because of this, however, it really could have been set anywhere as there wasn’t much that identified it as being in the US.
The experience of injured veterans was handled sensitively, and added to the backstory of the relationship between both of the main characters.
An enjoyable book to read at any time, but particularly when snuggled up in the warm on a cold winter’s day.
Harriet has a dependable boyfriend, and a great job in a budding real estate career, flipping houses. But when her grandmother passes away, Harriet drops everything to fly out to the Hamptons to comfort her grandpa. When she arrives in the Hamptons, Harriet sees someone she never expected to see again – the "one that got away", a former soldier named Mack.
This is the third novel I have read by Mandy Baggot. I really enjoy her writing style; it's easy to fall into step with her characters and her writing propels her stories forward at a good pace. Normally I enjoy "the one that got away" romance stories but this one was missing a little something. For me, the back story is what drives this type of novel. What separated the characters? Was it a whirlwind romance that came to a halt? The back story wasn't really revealed, and I didn't feel invested enough in their reuniting. Overall, I enjoyed the novel; it was a pleasant read, with well-timed humour and sentimental moments.
This was such an awesome book! It had me both laughing out loud and reevaluation my life, lol. A sweet romance, complete with the perfect holiday setting, adorable furry friend, and reminders of what Christmas is all about.
This was a gem of a book. Loved Harriet and Macks story, beautifully written, fantastic characters both primary and secondary. A great sense of community and a strong storyline.
A fantastic read which draws the reader in
Highly recommended!
Thank you to Netgalley, aria and Aries and Mandy Bagott for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
This was my first book by Mandy and I have to say, I loved it! All the characters were fabulous, and I loved that we got to learn a little something about each of them. I loved that it wasn’t your usual ‘falling in love with an ex’ sort of thing - it was so much better than that. Obviously it was very sad at the same time, but not too sad to make it morbid and spoil it. Definitely going to be adding some books by Mandy to my to be read pile.
I just finished Christmas by the Coast by Mandy Baggot and what a great pick for my final read of the year! While deployed in Afghanistan, Mack and Harriet have been writing letters to each other for years. Although they have never actually met, there is an unmistakable bond between them. But when the letters suddenly stop, Harriet is left crushed and forced to carry on with her life. Years later, returning to her favorite place to help her grandfather, she runs into someone she never thought she would see again. But can she heal her heart in time to figure out what she truly wants? I really liked this book and it definitely pulls your heartstrings. It reminds you that even if you get lost sometimes, life will always bring you back to where you're meant to be.
The perfect combination of seaside romance abd chrustmas cosiness the perfect festive treat to read.
Harriet and Mack’s story is such a lovely Christmas romance that any girl would love! The location of the story gives it such a festive, cold and sandy setting but leaves you warm in the heart. Loved how the story showed vulrability in the characters and that second chances are always worth a shot. Grab a warm drink and a blanket and let the book absorb you.
