Sometimes you fall behind on your reading, but I am so glad I had a chance to read this it was such a charming and exciting read.
I've never read a book taking place in Finland and the descriptions sound glorious. I really would love to have a chance to visit someday. The author has such realistic descriptions of the food, the dangers if you don't bundle up and getting lost in the snow in the dark. Snowshoeing sounds like it would be fun once you get the hang of it.
I've heard how breathtaking the northern lights are and there was such a nice description of them here.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters, they really had a lot going on and some drama thrown in for good measure. It really would be an adjustment going to an area such as this that is so different that what you are used to.
I will be looking out for more books by the author.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

I am so happy to have finally taken the time to read this book by Emily Kerr that I had in my ebookshelf for 2 years now! I am happy to have read it because it was really good! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book that much! So many things are happening, you won't get bored I promise you! And how fun to spend your time in the finnish Lapland under the Northern Lights? I really enjoyed discovering the main characters who are quite complex and are so much more than what they look like. Emily Kerr is a really good writer, I can't wait to read another book by her!

This story made me yearn for places and things I have yet to see and experience. I think as a whole this was a really special read in terms of the necessary aspect of discovering who you are beyond just what other people think of you. I do think that there were a bit of times throughout the story where I did find it sort of would progress to then regress because of the characters decisions. I just found Lucy at sometimes to be easier to connect with than others, and I also found myself frustrated by a lot of her decisions. Overall I think that this was a really atmospheric read that I did enjoy.

I enjoyed this book for Finland and the Northern Lights, but I could not handle Lucy and just her overall character. I didn't feel a connection, and was more frustrated / upset with her. I wanted to fall in love along side of her, but I couldn't just see it happening.

I’d slightly put off reading this recently as I thought it was going to be quite Christmas focused but it actually didn’t mention the season at all. Yes it was set in Finland so of course there was A LOT of snow, huskies (adorable) and mention of reindeer snow - apologies Rudolph and Prancer etc but that just added more to the adverse setting compared to what Lucy was normally use to.

Finland is such a magical place and definitely makes me think of Narnia with its white scenes, trees and icy lakes but this made you more aware of the dangers that lurk in the gorgeous setting and how even though something looks amazing it can soon change and become quickly life threatening.

I really enjoyed the story and could feel myself warming to Tommi more and more as the book progressed - you know those broody types who you just know are going to be the kindest, sweetest men… well that’s Tommi! The way he was able to see through Lucy’s layers was impressive and you could feel yourself falling for the two of them almost as much as they did. There was also a nice community feel to the book with Joanna and Rudi being a big part of the storyline and almost main characters in their own rights, and then ACFM with Aku as well face the whole area a more realistic feel.

It’s books like this that really fuel the little travel bug inside me and although I’m not sure I’d quite be braced for the cold, I would absolutely love to set foot in Finland and explore its landscapes one day. This is the first book by Emily that I’ve read but it most certainly won’t be my last as I want more now!

Lucy Fairweather is an award-winning radio presenter but all goes pear-shaped when an uncompromising video of her goes viral. She is suspended from her job and is virtually housebound due to 'Paparazzi' following her. Friends Skye and Henri suggest that she flies out to Finland, to work at Henri's brothers snowbound retreat near the Artic Circle.
After several stupid incidents, Lucy starts to find herself - but will it continue.

Unfortunately I did not manage to read this book at the time; and it is no longer a book I'd be interested in reading. Many thanks to the publisher for approving my request, and my apologies for being unable to provide a full review.

This book has charm and a great setting, to the point that Finland is almost another character. The characters are interesting but I wasn't investing in them as I would like in a romance.

2,5/5
This book wasn't for me. I loved the setting in Finland and how atmospheric it felt at times but apart from that, the book lacked a lot.
The main character, Lucy, was making a lot of poor decisions. I love characters that are struggling because they are really relatable, but unfortunately, i didn't feel connected to her character. She was not interesting and i didn't agree with the choices she made.
The food references were interesting but at some points, they got really annoying. The pacing of this book was really slow and i didn't find it interesting enough to keep reading.
Love the cover though.

Have you ever wanted to se the Northern Lights? This is the easy way to do it.
Turn up the heating, get yourself a nice warm drink and settle in for the trials and tribulations that make you endure the hardships on the way. Well meaning gestures go wrong, mistakes could cost lives but somehow the arrival is worth the journey

I really enjoyed this lovely Christmas tale with great characters and lovely warmoing descriptions and insights into Scandinavian life and customs.
A total metaphorical electric blanket- Perfect for damp November days!

The best thing about this book is the description of Finland. The author does an amazing job describing Finland that I want to visit there. Overall, I did not connect with Lucy. I found her to not deal with her life or feelings very well.

Like this one a lot, great character growth, a perfect read leading into the holidays. Definitely a slow burn, but a really cute, fun read.

It took me a while to get into this book but it did turn out to be a lovely story. Meet Lucy Fairweather, whose journey takes her from celebrity status in her home town to chalet maid in a Finnish wild holiday camp! A story that touches on grief in the modern day problems of Internet trolls provides life lessons that show how even when things go wrong they can be turned around.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for approving me for an ARC of this book. When I spotted the audio version on Scribd I thought I would give it a whirl.

From the start Lucy is clearly a woman with problems and these are ones she isn’t willing to face up to. Every thing that happens to her is always down to some sort of bad luck or because of someone else’s actions. What I had spotted early on was that Lucy liked to play the victim and wasn’t willing to accept that some of her own choices lead her to this path.

Despite this the viral video that lead to Lucy fleeing the country was wholly uncalled for and down right cruel. The aftermath of it was also deeply upsetting and not something that Lucy deserved. Thank god she had some friends looking out for her and could offer her the idyllic break she needed.

When Lucy first arrived at the Wild Zone I immediately fell in love with the beautiful scenery. Seeing the Northern Lights is on my to do list and Emily Kerr’s picturesque descriptions have only fuelled to that desire. Tommy was very interesting and somewhat moody at the beginning. I felt he definitely needed to lighten up a bit and maybe crack a smile or too.

This was an easy listen that I finished in a day. It was cosy and full or heart, the perfect comfort read to enjoy.

I just could not get into this one and it was probably a me thing. I get so excited about Christmas books and then I get bored after a few. I will look for more books by this author in the future.

After a drunken night out, a video of radio DJ Lucy goes viral which leads to a hate campaign, involving hate messages , trolls and work issues . A friend and co worker suggests she goes to the arctic circle to help out her brother in law Tommi with his new venture.
This story was a lovely wintry read but with the author tackling some real issues linked to mental health and alcoholism sensitively
Not your usual romantic story but one I would highly recommend
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins and Emily Kerr for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

A lovely wintery setting has you drawn into a wonderful read. You can imagine yourself in Lapland alongside Lucy who is escaping a trolling online back home. I love winter books as it always feels magical to read books set in such a special place in December.
