Meet me under the Northern Lights has a great cover and looked like it was a great read, but I couldn’t get into reading this book at this time. Maybe I will try to read it in a few weeks or months. Sometimes this happens and then I try again in awhile and I have better luck. 🤗🤞📚

Not really a light hearted book, even though the cover suggests that it is, it covers some serious issues and self discovery of the main character. Romance does occur but only as a side story. Nicely descriptive and enjoyable. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy

This was a wonderfully told story of a woman rediscovering herself when she didn't even know she needed to. How a change of pace, some new scenery, slowing down and keeping an open mind can lead to a joy you never knew you needed. This felt closer to a fiction novel with a thread of romance to it. I would actually rate Lucy's overall story a 4 and the romance element closer to a 3. HOWEVER, the setting was spectacular. I want to go to Finland like yesterday.

Read this book on a cold winter's day while cuddled up under blankets with a nice hot beverage by your side. You will feel transported to the magical landscape of Wild Zone where the Northern Lights reign supreme.

My actual rating for this book would probably be 3.5 stars. It was a quick read for me that had some cute moments for sure, but the romance actually wasn't the star of the show. I feel like this was more of a story about main character Lucy, on a journey for self discovery.

When a badly edited video of her went viral and compromised her position at the radio station where she worked, she had to get away. A friend ended up helping her settle on a remote location helping out the owner in exchange for her stay. While a romance did end up brewing between Lucy and him, it was mostly about Lucy and her life decisions.

I won't say too much because I don't want to spoil anything. What I will say is that any issues that Lucy had were not properly dealt with in my opinion. She never received any real help or support and the issues were just kind of glazed over. I found this mildly annoying and perhaps this is why, for a while, I found her to be a very unlikely character.

Overall, it was a good enough book to keep me turning the pages. But it wasn't the adorable holiday book I went in hoping to read.

I was expecting a cozy romcom, but it had a bit more depth. Yes, there is romance and there are some cute & funny moments, but the story is more about hitting rock bottom and finding your way back and the dark side of social media. Definitely worth the read.

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.

From the book cover, I thought this book was a light, holiday read. That thought was quickly dispelled when I began reading. This is a story of transformation and not a light subject matter. I do not think I am giving anything away with stating that. Due to being a transformation theme, the main character in the beginning of the story is usually not one that most people would like. That is definitely the case with this book. I am a bit too old and not as tolerant as I used to be, and the first half of the book was really difficult to read due to my strong dislike of Lucy. I pushed through reading and honestly did not want to continue, but I do not like to put down a book unread.

In addition to my strong dislike of Lucy, the storyline also dragged in the first half. I read the Kindle version and kept looking at the percentage read, so I know at 53% the storyline began to change, and my feelings of reading the book changed also. I was actually very interested to continue reading at this point.

The second half of the book moved at a much better pace and I was thoroughly involved in the plot and it held my interest while reading and also while not reading. I do recommend this book, but the possible reader should understand that it will maybe take some drive to get through the first half. My rating is blended, how I feel about the first half and the second half.

I want to thank HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for allowing me to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

This was such an adorable, quick and easy read that was the perfect read for when the weather is starting to get colder, it made me feel so cosy amd at the same time it was entirely heartbreaking. It was well written and I loved the premise for the story and the characters. I loved it

I loved this book. It held my interest right from the start and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen to Lucy next!

I loved the setting of this book and I really got the feel of the cold, dangerous but beautiful countryside of Finland from the writing. The premise of the story was good and I looked forward to reading it. It did have a serious side to the story when the main character has to deal with trolling, social media bullying and threats following a false video of her going viral. However, for me, it lost its way in the main character who I never really liked and where most of the book was her overthinking everything.

Lucy Fairweather is the main character in this story, a radio morning show presenter, who loves the high life that goes with the job. As I said I never really liked her character very much, she is selfish and thoughtless and even with her redemption I never warmed to her. However, I did like Tommi, the owner of Wild Zone where Lucy ends up, trying to hide. He was a lovely guy, quiet, thoughtful and sensible and I would have liked to have had more of his voice in the story, I think it would have helped to balance Lucy's character.

Overall, this story is an interesting read and I certainly enjoyed travelling to Finland. With a few tweaks, it could have been a really good story. If Tommi's point of view had been included and there was more dialogue and less of Lucy analysing her every thought it could have been a fabulous story. Having said that it is readable and I am sure it will appeal to some readers.

3.5 out of 5 stars

I went into this book expecting to find a fun and light romance. But even if it does have quite a few fun moments, I wouldn't say it was a light read, since it dealt with some serious issues. And even though there is some romance, it didn't feel like the main focus of the story, which for me turned out to be Lucy's journey of self-discovery. After a manipulated video of herself went viral, Lucy decided to escape for a while and she flew to Finland to help the brother of a friend at an adventure place called Wild Zone, where besides finding herself in a few embarrasing situations, creating a mess or two and developing feelings for her host, she ended up confronting some demons of her own.

I really enjoyed the setting, it made me feel like I was right there in Finland living an adventure in the wild. I have always wanted to visit the Arctic Circle and partake in all the activities one can do there, so I really enjoyed reading about all of that. The romance was OK, if maybe a bit underdeveloped. I missed having Tommi's point of view. I would have liked to see how he saw Lucy in his mind and when exactly did he start to fall for her and why. But again, I think the romance is only part of the story, not the central point, so even though it was subtle, I still enjoyed it. And the book also provides some food for thought regarding online exposure and issues in the work environment, among other things.

All in all, I thought it was an interesting read.

Thank you to ONE MORE CHAPTER and Netgalley for granting me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet story set in Finland at an outdoor adventure base. It captures all the beauty and wilderness of the area and the kindness of the local community.
I enjoyed the drama and love story set in the book, though I wasn't always connected on a deep level with the characters, i think it could have been that there were quite a few characters set within each area so that focus of knowing one or two was lost slightly, but overall it is an uplifting and fun book to read for a wintery vibe

I was in two minds whether was going to finish this book as I really did not like Lucy the main character. Her general extrovert behaviour and shallowness feeling sorry for herself the whole time just annoyed me even more plus the fact she seemed to have a worldwide reputation. However, things did improve and I was glad I'd persevered as the setting was stunning in snowy Finland and whilst I still didn't love Lucy I got to appreciate her and it was just as well she had many people looking out for her. Plenty of snow with some cosy warm heartedness along the way.

This was such a sweet book. I loved the Finnish setting and all that came with it. It ended up being so much deeper than I thought - which made for a charming read with some heavy undertones. It felt so much more "real life" than the usual light hearted romances I tend to gravitate towards.

It follows the downfall of Radio DJ , Lucy , following a video of her that goes viral. Faced with trolls, hate messages and issues at work she takes off to Finland to spend some time with a colleagues brother-in-law. I loved following her along, adjusting to Finland and working through some of her issues as well as the lovely romance that blossoms. It was just lovely and the setting made it even more fantastic.

Perfect mix of characters you warm to straight away... and those you don't......

I am 100% adding Finland to my list of places to travel and adding Emily Kerr to my list of authors to revisit.

Lucy is a popular host on an early morning breakfast show until a questionable video of her partying and throwing herself at a colleague goes viral and she starts to receive death threats and vile messages.
A friend and co worker manages to persuade the owner of a new venture at the Artic circle to let Lucy go and help out while hopefully the messages etc stop
When she first arrives she doesn't do herself any favours by not listening to the owner Tommi and actually putting herself in danger. Tommi has words with Lucy and she begins to face her demons and actually starts to enjoy being there
Lucy starts to fall for Tommi and also finds out that 2 of her male colleagues were responsible for editing the video and ruining her reputation so they could take her place. Payback is sweet but in an unexpected way
I absolutely loved it, it's certainly not all sweetness and light. Perfect

Lucy a radio host, good time girl and avid drinker has gone viral for all the wrong reasons and needs to get away, her friend Skye suggests her brother in laws place in Finland offering peace, solitude and anonymity.
