This is a somewhat relaxed edge of the seat plot line involving assassins for hire, a gangster, and a witness in substandard protection. It’s at its best with regard to the relationship developing between the witness and the rancher seeing to her protection. But there are a couple of glaring issues. The book ends long before Christmas with anticipatory exchanges of gifts and is really centered more around Thanksgiving, albeit a quiet one with just two. The bigger error is the utter lack of procreational protection. There is repeated unprotected sex, loving and romantic, but the heroine wonders whether he intends to remain childless while having frequent unprotected sex. A better question might have been how many children did he have with women who came before. Had it not been for those issues, I would have rated this book higher. The author portrays the growing comfort and companionship particularly well.
Home for a Cowboy Christmas will warm your heart as a cowboy and a US Marshall work to keep a witness safe until trial come up for a mob boss. The holiday season will find love in the air and suspense as a hit man tracks her .
Emmy Garrett. is in WITSEC for choosing to testify against one of her former clients who is a Mafia Boss who will still at nothing to have her taken out before she can testify. When her U'S. Marshall decides the only way to keep her safe is to leave her at a ranch in Montana with Dwight Reynolds, a vet, former FBI and the only person he trusts, Emmy is still convinced she will never make it to the courthouse in 6 weeks.
Dwight Reynolds is immediately attracted to this feisty woman, but he knows better than to act on any feelings for a person under his protection,
This story wrapped me up for the first chapter and never let me down!!
GREAT REAAD!!!
This story is so real. You could just imagine the situation happening. Doing the right thing almost got Emmy killed. I enjoyed reading how she coped with everything. Sam is something else as well. Loved the ending.
Emmy Garrett was seconds away from death when Deputy US Marshal Dalton Silva entered her hotel room and took care of the assassin holding a gun to her head. Emmy was in WITSEC (witness protection) and supposedly being protected by US Marshals. The two US Marshals who were supposed to be guarding her hotel room were nowhere to be found when Dalton arrived there just in time to save Emmy's life. Looked like to Dalton that there was a leak in his department. This was the third time Emmy had to be moved. Dalton knew he was on his own. His best bet was to take Emmy to his friend's ranch in Montana. Emmy was very frightened but trusted Dalton and knew as soon as she met Dwight Reynolds that she could trust him too.
Dwight Reynolds is former military, FBI and Homeland Security. Even though he left all that behind to take over running the family ranch his protective instincts still remained strong. He owed Dalton a favor and was more than happy to pay him back by taking in Emmy and protecting her. Dwight didn't even need to be told why Emmy needed protection. When Emmy did tell Dwight her story Dwight became even more protective. He knew he had to be on top of his game to protect the woman he was falling in love with.
Home for a Cowboy Christmas by Donna Grant is an exciting romantic suspense story. This storyline held my attention throughout as I realized the mob boss who wanted to eliminate Emmy, the witness who could send him to prison, would do everything he could to take her out of the picture so she couldn't testify against him. I really liked Emmy and Dwight. They are both believable characters and very likable. I also liked how this author included Dwight's Australian Cattle dog, Sam in the story as the emotional support dog for Emmy. I like Ms. Grant's voice and I really enjoyed this story.
I received an ARC and am happy to provide an honest review.
A bit of suspense, a bit of holiday, a bit of romance.
Wonderful characters that balance each other. I liked the slow building romance which the book focuses more on than the suspense. I love cowboy romances and this is a wonderful story to sit and read during a cold winter day.
I loved the bonus short story (Wish Upon a Cowboy) that is included at the end of the book. It’s an opposites attract, cowboy & city girl, holiday fling to HEA story.
Dwight has special skills he thought to never use again. Then A favor owed puts Emmy in his protection. Suspense and romance make up this great story.
The second surprise book is wonderful! I cried!
'Home For a Cowboy Christmas' is frightfully chilling as Emmy Garrett faces the very real possibility of her death to stop her from testifying against a mob boss. The story is believable and the layers of danger, PTSD, loneliness, and tension are expertly created by Donna Grant. There is enough time paid to the story unfolding and the blossoming of love that we share in the minds of the main characters to make a satisfying and delightful read Due to the graphic content it is a deterrent to total enjoyment of the book for me. That being said it is a gripping and lovely story that I can recommend for mature readers.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Dwight is the whole package. Cowboy, military, law enforcement and all around hero. Emmy is so lucky that she was dropped off at his ranch for protection. Her fear is a real thing, it comes across time and again. I enjoyed reading Home For a Cowboy Christmas, very much. The bonus story is the cherry on top!
This was such a great story which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Awesome characters, a great plot and of course a sexy romance:) I loved Emmy and Dwight's characters, she couldn't have had a more loving protector than him!!
When asked to protect Emmy, who is in the witness protection program, Dwight does so as a favour to a friend but it doesn't take long before his feelings for her deepen. Emmy feels the same way but she doesn't think she'll live to testify in court so she hides her feelings until it's almost too late. My heart went out to them, wondering how it would all end. Well written story by Donna Grant!!

Mein Leseerlebnis

Sonst nichts.
The cover was the first thing that caught my attention and then I read the blurb and I new I had to read this book. Even though Christmas is a few months away it puts you in the spirit! This book is full of romantic suspense and it will keep you glued to the pages of this book. Emmy is in the need of protection so she is taken to Dwight's home as a safe house. The story line flows from one chapter to the next. You honestly do not want to miss a minute of their story. Thanks NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Home for a Cowboy Christmas by Donna Grant
This is the story of Emmy Garrett and Dwight Reynolds: she is on the run from a hit man after seeing a horrible crime - the US Marshal in charge takes her to Dwight's farm knowing he would keep her safe. There violence, PTSD, fear, falling in love, laughs, tears, terror and plenty of steam to get us to a very HEA. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I could hardly put it down.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Happily Ever After Romantic Tear-jerker Unpredictable Haunting Action-packed Entertaining Wonderful characters Witty Page-turner Tragic Steamy Scary Easy-to-read Great world building
This is a good suspenseful romantic book. The two main characters are Emmy and Dwight. Emmy saw something she shouldn’t. She went to the DA’s office and agreed to testify against the mob. While she was in the witness protection program a hit man found her and was going to to kill her. An agent killed him and took her away. He left her with Dwight in Montana. They became close. Another hit man showed up and shot Dwight and took Emmy. Eventually they got away from the the hit man and fell in love.
Home For a Cowboy Christmas was a great story. Finding love while hiding from an assassin sure makes for an exciting story. Really loved how Emmy and Dwight were able to get to know one another while he was sheltering her. And Sam the dog sure added a really cute aspect to the story. A very enjoyable story.
Loved this book. The drama was edge of the seat & had me hooked all the way through to the end. I loved the Dwight was the first to fall. His chemistry with Emmy was sparking from the start. I also enjoyed the intrigue with Dalton as he searched for the guy sent to kill Emmy. Emmy wasn’t weak either her bravery kept her alive as did her recently acknowledged love for Dwight. I enjoy reading author Donna Grant’s books, they always have me intrigued from the first page & her heroines are not wimpy women but those that figure out how to fight back. Definitely recommend this book. I’m hoping that this will become a series. Thank you to Net Galley & the publisher for letting me read this book for an honest review.
Be still my heart!
Interesting and great story.
I liked the flow and the characters. There was a great amount of conflict and interest to keep page turning.
Attractive title and cover.
Recommend.
Home for a Cowboy Christmas by Donna Grant was a heartwarming story. I enjoyed getting to know Dwight and Emmy. She’s in the witness protection plan and he has a remote ranch in Montana where she is hiding out. He’s a natural protector and the two of them fall for each other hard and fast. And it works. Romance with a little suspense; all in all a sweet little cozy weekend read! Thank you NetGalley for this copy to read, review and enjoy!
Good story with a nice mix of suspense and romance. I enjoyed Emmy and Dwight's chemistry and commitment to keeping each other safe.
I definitely have a soft spot for Donna Grant books - whether it is dragons, cowboys, or international operatives - she always grabs and holds my attention. This book is a standalone from any of her series - but I do hope to see more of the people in the story. I feel like there are a lot of stories left to be told!
Emmy is in the federal witness protection program and it is failing her. In her first safehouse she was almost murdered after her location got out. The agent protecting her takes her to the middle of nowhere in Montana to his friend, and formal homeland security operative, Dwight's ranch. Dwight's got skills and is ideally placed to keep Emmy safe. As you might expect, Dwight quickly falls for Emmy - but he is a really really good man and doesn't pressure her or make her feel uncomfortable in any way.
I liked so much about this book - and the holiday aspect was definitely a very natural fit to the book. What is taking it down from four stars to three - is how some parts didn't 100% work for me. Involving Dwight's sister - for example felt a little off - even though she was clearly a vault when it came to information - it just felt super risky and out of character for Dwight. The last bit of drama was also one that challenged by suspension of disbelief as well.
But overall - I really liked it and I think fans of Donna Grant will definitely be 100% on board with this!
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.
