AMAZING! I couldn’t put this book down !! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. This book is beautifully written, and the character development was excellent. This is a fun romance full of humor and lovable characters.
I should have prepare myself when I started reading this book because the author is known to write heavy book. Look at her first book, Float. This book focus on Anna's sister, Rachel and the chaos that follows her.
I got to say that I did enjoy reading Rachel story. She had a lot of things to deal with throughout her life with being a single mother. So I totally get where she gets very cautious with dating, especially with her new boss Mason.
What I had a problem with this book is the heavy topics discuss and the progress of the romance. I understand that everyone has baggage in their life, but what I don't appreciate is the misrepresentation of the romance genre. What I'm trying to say is that if we are going to read about heavy trigger topics mainly that we should label the book as fiction read or women's fiction, not romance genre. This book focus more about the characters baggage than the romance between them. It was very lacking in my opinion.
From Lala’s Book Reviews
This book is absolutely A-DOR-ABLE as in this is the first time in a really long time that I’ve loved a book with very little spice. There are a few scenes that had some romantic moments been Rachel and Mason but nothing detailed.
Rachel is a single mom with a four year old daughter living with her own mother. Rachel works at a upscale hotel in Florida as the clerk until one night when one of the hotel’s guest tried to make a move on her and she declined leading to the hotel firing her. She’s able to find a new job working at another hotel but it’s not the best.
Rachel is the sensible daughter who likes to plan everything out, but when a job opportunity to be the manager at a lodging place in Ohio that’s to good to be true, so she decides to pack up her and her daughter Maisie to the middle of nowhere Ohio. And when they get there, the only lodging is her boss’s, Mason’s, house.
It seems that Mason has the plan of turning his land into a retreat with cabins and his brewery, but with his divorce and loss of child, it has been hard for him to make any progress. With Rachel’s help, he dream is starting to become a reality.
But those pesky feelings start to get into the equation and makes things difficult because Maisie is around the same age as his daughter would have been and sometimes it makes it hard for him to be around them putting a strain of the whole situation. Yet, at the same time being around Rachel and Maisie helps him work through everything that has happened over the past couple of years.
Both Rachel and Mason know that there’s something between them, but they are both wary on acting on it.
Will the past be to much for Mason to deal with as Rachel’s present is ever changing for a relationship to work.
The Suite Spot is a fast paced cute romance story with single parents, new lives, and healing that’ll will make you laugh and cry. This book has so many cute scenes that just made me have to put it down at times because it was just so adorable.
This was such a fun read, i did not want to put it down. i loved how the story unfolded how the romance began and how she gave everything up for her daughter but in the end was right back where she belonged
This heartwarming love story was a great portrayal of single parenthood, finding your place and your person.
Rachel doesn’t know what’s she’s going to do when she gets fired from her job at a luxury hotel in Miami. She’s a single mom and needs to be able to take care of her daughter. Rachel is desperate so she calls about a position at a brewery hotel on a tiny island in Lake Erie. She’s offered the job and moves to Ohio with her daughter. Her boss doesn’t like kids, knows nothing about running a hotel, but he is oh so handsome.
I loved The Float Plan by this author so I was excited to read this one. I actually didn’t know that Rachel was sisters with the MC from The Float Plan. This was a sweet book. I loved that Rachel was an independent woman, trying to have a better life to support her daughter and Mason’s character grew throughout the book. At first, he was quiet and grumpy but as the book continued, we learned more about his past and he started to open up. Mason ended up having the sweetest relationship with Rachel’s little girl and Rachel and Mason’s relationship was perfection.
A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is one of my new favorite small town romances, a comfort read about a single mom moving across the country in hopes of finding an amazing job and discovering a lasting relationship in the process. Adorable, swoony, and filled with all the coziness, this is a romance the author proclaims as “warm and gentle,” and it fits that description to a tee.
After being fired from her job, on a whim Rachel Beck accepts the manager position at a brewery hotel on a small island in Michigan. Upon arrival Rachel meets her boss, the grumpy yet handsome Mason, and tumbles into a comfortable and wildly romantic relationship with the hotel owner.
This book is like getting a great big hug. More often than not I want something with drama and angst, but sometimes you just need a feel good romance with lots of charm. Mason, Rachel, and the people of Kelley’s Island make this a read that feels a lot like a breath of fresh air. Quaint and brimming with the comforts of home, this is a love story that would make the perfect Hallmark movie!
With Trish Doller being one of my favorite authors, and with Float Plan being one of my top books of 2021, I think it’s fair to say that my expectations of The Suite Spot were sky high. We didn't see a lot of Rachel in Float Plan, but what we saw intrigued me. Why was her relationship with Anna strained? Why didn't she understand why Anna left everything behind? I was so excited to finally read more about Rachel, and to get to know her.
The first thing we learn about Rachel is how much of an incredible mother she is. She always puts Maisie first, and will do anything for her. I loved seeing Rachel realize what Anna did in Float Plan - sometimes, it's necessary to leave in order to grow. In leaving, not only does Rachel challenge herself in terms of her career, she also finally stops waiting for Maisie's father to settle down with her. It was rewarding seeing Rachel realize her worth, and in turn, become an even better mother to Maisie.
I really enjoyed Rachel and Mason's relationship. Mason has just recently suffered through a loss, and is not ready to commit just yet. Rachel never pushes Mason for something he isn't ready for, and I love how mature both characters are. There's just so much respect and patience between the two, and I couldn’t get enough of their slow burn romance!
One of my favorite things about The Suite Spot is how Rachel, our heroine, is fat. It's always gratifying seeing positive fat rep in romance, and all the more so because Rachel's body has nothing to do with the story. It's not a central plot point - Rachel has insecurities about her body sometimes, sure, but she has so much more going on with her life. It's important that we see more stories like these, and I really wish the cover could have shown that Rachel is plus size, so more fat people can pick up this book and see that we are so much more than our bodies.
There's so much more to love about The Suite Spot. The setting is gorgeous; the supporting characters enrich the story; and we also see Mason and Maisie develop their own relationship. It's an incredible book that I can't recommend enough!
I loved Float Plan and I liked The Suite Spot. The Suite Spot takes place in the area I live in and I thought that was really cool. The descriptive writing that described the area was fantastic. I also appreciated the different cultural perspectives as well.
The beginning of this book was great, the middle was a bit slow for me and the ending was abrupt but good. I don’t know, I think I was just missing the connection between Rachel and Mason’s relationship. I felt like the conversations between them both could have been a lot deeper than what they were.
I liked it, but I just didn’t love it like I wanted to
Fired from what she thought was her dream job, single mom Rachel Beck has hit rock bottom. When her friend Cecily calls with a job opportunity miles away from her hometown in Florida, Rachel takes a chance on a new job and a new life for her and her daughter. She didn’t realize how homesick she’d be when she arrived or that she’d be so attracted to her boss, Mason. When Rachel realizes that building a hotel and a life with Mason is her actual dream, will she stay and enjoy it?
The Suite Spot is an adorable romance I could not put down. Mason and Rachel are fully developed, strong, independent characters that fit so well together and create sparks from the very beginning. The cast of friendly, nosy townsfolk add to the charm of this novel. It is the second installment of the Beck Sisters series, but can be read as a standalone.
This book was perfect, the ultimate comfort read that I didn’t even realize I needed. Rachel and Mason have both suffered major disappointments and heartbreak and need to figure out how to move on. Somehow, they are able to be exactly what the other needs. I loved that there was no drama or misunderstandings between them.. Right from the start, it was obvious they were perfect for each other. The setting was also great and rather unusual, a small town on an island in Lake Erie. I didn’t even realize there were islands in Lake Erie, but now I have a new place to add to my summer travel wish list. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
The Suite Spot made me smile. Rachel & Mason are both dealing with their own hurts and figuring out how to move forward in life. When Rachel begins working for Mason, they somehow find a way to bring moments of happiness and hope into each other’s lives. I enjoyed the sweet slow burn and how considerate they were to each other’s situations. The progress of the hotel build and design was a fun thread throughout the story. I’ve always liked scrolling through Pinterest to dream about a weekend away in a cozy cabin. While reading The Suite Spot, I found myself considering what kind of decor and what colors and textures I would use to decorate guest cabins.
Trish Doller knows how to write characters dealing with pain in a way that feels completely relatable. The book deals with some heavy topics but the sweet romance and the exciting hotel design lighten the mood for a balanced story with wonderful characters. The Suite Spot had me yelling at a couple jerks, swooning at the tender moments, and grinning at the HEA that almost seemed impossible to get to.
Oh, and I absolutely loved the chapter titles!

After reading and loving Float Plan by Trish Doller, I was excited to hear that her next book would follow the heroine’s sister, Rachel. While The Suite Spot can technically be read as a standalone, there are several mentions of and even an appearance by familiar characters, so I recommend reading Float Plan prior to starting this one.
After getting unceremoniously fired from her job, our heroine, Rachel, is stuck in a rut, in her life, her career, and with love. Deciding to make a new start, she uproots her and her daughter’s life for a new career opportunity on a small island. Only her new job isn’t *quite* what she expects, and her boss, Mason, turns out to be a grumpy, but handsome recluse with a mysterious past. But as she makes new friends, becomes an integral part of Mason’s business, and gives in to the spark of attraction she feels with her boss, Rachel realizes that she’s finally found a place she could potentially call home.
At its heart, The Suite Spot is a beautifully written, thoroughly enjoyable love story about second chances and new beginnings. It’s heartfelt and emotional, without being overly angsty. It’s slow-burning, but with a bit of steam. And it touches on heavier topics, without being too serious or intense. With a romance that’s sweet and tentative, protagonists that are endearing, yet saddled with emotional baggage, and an eclectic cast of characters that give the narrative a fun-loving, tight-knit feel, The Suite Spot, is a swoon-worthy, evocative, entertaining read.
I loved this book…except for a few parts where I didn’t. The most important thing to know is that this is every bit the cozy, warm, hopeful, interesting & romantic story you hope it will be. 5 big stars for concept, characters, and setting. Well done.
I didn’t love all the random virtue signaling shoehorned into the story in ways that had no bearing on the plot. It read like the author was handed a list of 2022 hot-button subjects she must include in her final edit. Super awkward & distracting. And it was downright weird that the main conflict didn’t come up until 86% into the book, spun the main character into a reaction that didn’t make sense, then resolved perfectly & quickly. It made me wonder if another ending was planned but just didn’t come together in time. All that said, though, I’ll definitely read more by this author because I love her tone & style, and I’d recommend this book to a friend.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book.
Many thanks to NetGalley, St Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of this wonderful new book by Trish Doller - 5 stars! This is book two about the Beck Sisters, following The Float Plan, but it would read perfectly as a stand-alone as well. But read Float Plan because it's wonderful too!
Single mom to young Maisie, Rachel loves her job in an upscale Miami Beach hotel, until she is fired by an incident not of her doing. She decides to take a job as a manager at a new brew pub/hotel which is her dream job, except that it is located on a Lake Erie Island, Kelleys Island, in NE Ohio. But she takes a breath and moves. There she meets Mason, owner and brewmaster, who is floundering and has exaggerated the state of the facility when he offered Rachel the job.
I adored this story, just as I did Float Plan. It's a wonderfully-written story of second chances, trusting, community. These characters feel like friends, ones you want to sit with on an island with a beer. I've done just that on Kelleys Island, so I loved the setting. Each chapter opened with a foreign word or phrase that perfectly captured the topic of that chapter. I alternated reading the digital copy and listening to the wonderful narration by Sarah Naughton. Don't miss this heartwarming story!
After having just finished the previous book (Float Plan) I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. Rachel came off as unlikeable in the first book and the book itself was a little underwhelming.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by The Suite Spot! Delving into Rachel's character and past shed a lot of light on why she reacted or said things in the first book. I loved that Rachel is a strong woman who stood up for herself and then followed through on the risk of moving across states. Mason is likeable in the beginning, if not a little mysterious. My only complaint is I wish there was a little bit more character development from him.
All in all, I was rooting for Rachel the whole time! I look forward to more from this author.
P.S. I would totally go to a hotel/cabin stay situation at a taproom on an island!
I absolutely loved this book! I thought it was a cute, fun read. The author did a good job making me fall in love with the process of building this vacation spot/brewery. The characters were very likable and I thought it was realistic and sweet.
This was a very enjoyable story. The characters were fully developed. I was frustrated with some of Rachels decisions near the end of the book but it all worked out well!

MY THOUGHTS
After FLOAT PLAN being one of my favorite romances I read in 2021, this one was one of my most anticipated 2022 releases! And it definitely did not disappoint.
I think my favorite thing about these books is Trish’s writing. It’s modern and seamless and really helps tie the love story in with the deeper themes of the book, which is another one of my favorite things. In FLOAT PLAN, we saw the aftermath of loss and grief. With THE SUITE SPOT, Trish touches upon loss and grief, sexual assault as well as what it’s like to be overweight trying to find love after toxic relationships. These books become about so much more than romance. Having the characters be older and in this case divorced and/or with children also adds a layer to the plot that is really effective. I did also thoroughly enjoy the timeline of the love story, and how it progressed slowly at each of the character’s own paces. I loved the setting of this story as well. And also the characters in these books having genuine passions that we learn so much about over the course of the story helps build the reader’s connection to them (sailing in FLOAT PLAN and brewing beer in THE SUITE SPOT).
With so many deeper themes in this book, I wish we delved into them a little more. Our MC Rachel has dealt with some pretty heavy trauma as well as Mason & I think I would have liked to see more on it, as we saw so much of that healing in FLOAT PLAN with Anna.
Definitely recommend this one as the sequel to FLOAT PLAN, and I hope you love the Beck sisters as much as I did🤍
Trish Doller is the master at writing sweet emotional romances! I always know I’m in for a treat when I pick up one of her books and The Suite Spot was no different. Float Plan was one of my favorite books last year and I couldn’t wait to learn more about Anna’s sister.
Everything about this book is warm and light and it was so much fun to read. Rachel and Mason are adorable together and their slow burn romance is just so gentle. I loved watching them open up to each other and slowly build a life together. And in the coolest location! I don’t even drink and I want to visit their beer hotel.
There’s a tiny bit of drama toward the end but it’s resolved quickly, and honestly I would have been okay with a bit more struggle to get to the happily ever after. (I like my romances with angst, what I can say.)
It’s not necessary to have read Float Plan before this one, but Anna and Keane do make an appearance and Float Plan is just so good so I highly recommend reading it anyway.
If you’re looking for a low angst, low steam, slow burn romance, look no further! I really wish Anna and Rachel had another sibling so we could spend more time in this world.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
