I really loved "Float Plan," and I somehow loved this even more! The Beck sisters series is so fun, and I can't wait to pick up the next one. Trish Doller gives depth to her characters that can sometimes be hard to find in romance novels, and it's so appreciated.
Look, this was no Float Plan but my GOD this was cute and fun and I still really enjoyed it a lot a lot. I don’t think Maisy was 3, more like 5, and I think the audio maybe wasn’t my favorite and it all wrapped up a little quickly??? But I loved it. Trish Doller is excellent at covering heavy shit and making it normal and relatable and I would like to move to the island and live in a cabin with Mason he is an angel thank you that is all
This is an intriguing title for a book, and I was hoping that it would be a romcom, and I felt that it was. There was banter and likable characters and plot that kept me interested. It was fun and interesting, and it was an easy and fun book to read.
Loved this second book in Doller's romance series. Tender and wise and so sneakily sexy. Doller has a way with her sentences that just draws the reader right in!
I loved The Float Plan and was so excited to read this book which is #2 in the series. This was such a beautiful love story that really had me but also had me laughing as well. If you are into sunshine/grumpy romance tropes, then this one is for you! A great read perfect for spring/summer.
When single mom Rachel moves from Miami to a remote island in Lake Erie to take a job at a brewery hotel, she finds an unfinished hotel and it's grumpy (and handsome) owner. Mason offers Rachel a chance to build a hotel, rebuild her life, and maybe fall in love.
I loved Float Plan, so I had high hopes for this! I really enjoyed this slow burn, grumpy-sunshine romance. The audiobook was great!
Thank you to Netgalley for the early ARC of this book. Trish Doller did it again with this great book. If you are looking for a slow burn, cozy romance then this is the book for you! I feel like this is the perfect book to read during the transition of summer to fall and I love the fact that it includes a strong main character that is a single mom striving for more in life.
The Suite Spot was a breathe of fresh air! If you enjoyed Float Plan, also by , I think you would also enjoy this novel. It follows Rachel Beck, Anna’s (from Float Plan) sister. Doller’s second novel following the Beck sister’s is just as “suite.” We even get a quick update on Anna and Keane.
Taking a chance on a new start, Rachel moves herself and your daughter up to a small town on the Great Lakes. Here she begins working for Mason, helping him design his brewery and camping cabins. I loved the vibes of the small town and descriptions of the lakeside setting. Mason and his grumpy self (due to some past heartbreak) left me waiting to read how Rachel would play a role in putting him back together. I also loved Rachel’s daughter and couldn’t help but laugh at her loveable and quirky personality!
I've been a fan of Trish's YA, so I was excited to see what her romance looked like.
I really liked Rachel and Mason. They're both good, loyal people looking for something a bit more. Together they have a good friendship that organically moves to more. I enjoyed the cast of secondary characters as they were some of the best scene stealers.
Plot wise, it was good. There's a very slow build up to the end, but it's like a meandering. There was a bit of an angst wrench thrown in at the last chapter that felt unnecessary, but that's just me.
Overall, this was a quick, comfort sort of read.
FYI: the warning label at the beginning mentions sexual assault: the scene was getting pinned against a door/wall, and being forcefully groped and kissed
**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**
The Suite Spot is the second book in the Beck Sisters series by Trish Doller, and after having loved the first book so much, I obviously had to come back for seconds. I was very excited to find out that the main character of the story will be Rachel, taking into account that she was mentioned several times in the previous book and me being a sucker for single-parent trope I obviously wanted to read this one as soon as possible.
I had no idea how the story would develop but I liked the odds set for Rachel, of course the circumstances in which she left her old job weren’t great, but the author managed to give her a new start that was amazing. I loved the setting of the new town and of course the story centered around the building of the cabins and the importance of the brewery. Mason was a nice addition, the perfect brooding type of character that is soft on the inside.
But, I have to say that what I absolutely enjoyed the most was the way in which the author managed to write Rachel and Mason’s story without involving their exes in the mix. I liked that Mason’s ex wife was just mentioned in passing and not brought to the plot as shock value, and I like how Rachel’s ex boyfriend didn’t cause that much trouble for her in the end. At the same time, the presence of Masie, Rachel’s daughter, was treated carefully taking into account Mason’s past. In the end, it was very wholesome to see the relationship of the two coming to fruition.
Content warning: mentions of sexual harassment at the begining of the book.

After reading Float Plan I was really excited to read about Rachel. While I enjoyed The Suite Spot, I did find it lacked a bit of the same depth that was so good in Float Plan. The pacing was a bit slow and lacked some character development.
As I find in a lot of romance novels, it was a bit formulaic with 'trouble' finding our main characters, which is then remedied in no time. The ending felt rushed.
The story is a lot lighter than that of Float Plan, so maybe that was part of my issue with it. It was like I kept waiting for something more to happen but nothing did. I can't quite put my finger on it...
Still enjoyed this book and would recommend to others!

The Suite Spot is the second book in the Beck Sisters series. It follows Rachel, a single mother living in South Florida who was recently let go unfairly from her job working as a reservations manager for a luxury hotel.
On a whim, Rachel applies to work at a brewery/hotel on an island in Lake Erie in Ohio. She decides to make a big move and packs her life and her 4 yr daughter, Maisie. When they arrive, Rachel finds out the hotel… isn’t even open. Mason is the handsome owner, but he’s closed off and doesn’t do much to welcome them. He offers Rachel the opportunity to help design the hotel and a huge budget. Rachel doubles down, and makes the best of the situation. She makes friends with the locals and they help her find unique items for the hotel.
Rachel and Mason get close as they work to open for guests. Rachel has gotten over her relationship with Maisie’s dad, but he will always be around and Mason has some of his own issues to deal with. I really appreciated that Rachel and Mason took their time with their relationship. Both have been through some extremely difficult situations and going slow was perfect for both of them. Mason is so wonderful with Maisie; it’s hard to not fall in love with him yourself. I love learning about his family and their culture. They have so much in common with both having an immigrant mother.
Thank you so much to @stmartinspress and @trishdoller for my gifted copy.
I enjoyed her novel Float Plan, so when I saw there was a companion novel featuring the sister of the main character from Float Plan, I knew I wanted to read it. Rachel is very different from her sister Anna. She is kind of in a rut. She has a young child, and while she isn't exactly in a relationship with the father of her daughter Maisie anymore, she also feels like she won't ever find someone that she really cares about. She has a degree in hospitality and works as a night reception manager at a luxury Miami Beach hotel, hoping to move to a day job when her daughter starts school. But when a guest becomes aggressive and Rachel doesn't succumb, she finds herself looking for a new position.
Getting a lead on a position at a new hotel in Ohio is a lucky break, and she finds its location surprisingly attractive. The hotel isn't open yet though, although the brewery is starting to create beers. Rachel finds the owner, Mason, nice but sometimes distracted, and when she learns of his loss, she feels for him.
As Rachel begins to find her feet in her new role, and learn about her new community, she also has issues arising from back in Florida.
There is lots to like here, from body positive messages, to book clubs, to the fun of hotel design, I liked not only the two main characters, but many of the secondary characters as well. Definitely another good read from this author.
I enjoyed this book so, so much!! This is my favourite out of the three books so far. Fabulous characters and such a sweet storyline!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
https://theknittersbookshelf.com/books/the-suite-spot/The Suite Spot is the perfect comfort read. Rachel Beck is a single mom who will do anything for her daughter Maisie, she works the night shift at a luxury hotel in Miami Beach until one evening a patron gets a little to handsy but blames Rachel who in turn looses her job. Not sure what to do she decides to take a leap of faith and applies for a hotel management job on a small island in Ohio. As luck would have it she gets the job and they set off to hopefully make a new start for themselves only when they arrive the hotel owner Mason Brown may have left out the bit where he told them the hotel wasn’t exactly finished.
This book has everything you could ask of a romance book. A strong independent female lead who decides to get out of her comfort zone and take a risk which may just change her life. We’ve Mason who is handsome, hardworking and generous. There is a bit of miscommunication and it takes them a little while to warm up to each other but they make a great team. I loved how it wasn’t all rosy and there were some real world problems mixed in (TW: sexual harassment, references to loss of child).
The author did a wonderful job of setting the scene on Kelleys Island, she really captured what small town living feels like. I loved getting to know all the supporting characters and it is easy to see why Rachel felt so at ease there. Having left her mother behind and having such a young daughter it would be important to build a network of people to start they new life in Ohio and I really got the sense they belonged there. I especially loved Rachels friendship with Avery and Maisies with Leo.
Mason is such a sweet and caring person. He has been through an unimaginable loss and it is understandably hard for him to adjust to his new housemates. I do wish the book would have touched on this a bit more. There are some sweet moments between Mason and Maisie but I felt there was a piece missing as he and Rachel never really discussed his loss more than it was hard.
I have heard great things the first book in this series is so I will defiantly be looking to read The Float Plan and the upcoming 3rd book Off the Map.

I loved this one - a single parent, some good tension, and a solid romance. I thought maybe this one wouldn't quite make me as emotional as Float Plan, but I was mistaken (in the best way). I loved the two leads - they were slow burn and had their reasons to have their guards up. Reading about them getting to know each other and lowering their guards was a pleasure.
I really enjoyed this book. The small town, quaint backdrop and community togetherness vibes were really special. One thing I appreciated was that thought there was some conflict issues between Rachel and her ex, she had a proper attitude. I enjoyed the family dynamics and how cozy it was.
The Suite Spot centers around Rachel Beck, Anna’s sister. Unlike the beautiful Anna who left to explore the world, Rachel is stuck. Still living at home and a single parent, Rachel’s priority is providing the best life she can for her daughter, her father a part time, pop in parent.
One day at work, a guest at the hotel where she works makes a pass at her. When she declines, he turns the tables, getting her fired. Left with little money and lackluster prospects, Rachel takes a job far away from home. There she meets the handsome yet hands off, Mason. Her boss, their relationship has to stay platonic. But as they build a plan for a local hotel together, they both can help but to wish to build something more.
This was cute, but not one of my fav romances. I liked the MC enough but the romance fell a little flat for me. Enjoyable, but ultimately not super memorable.
