Float Plan is one of my all time favorite books so I knew I would love this one and it far exceeded my expectations. This book has a very different vibe to it. It didn't gut me the way it's predecessor did, but it still had moments.

I love that Doller puts her characters in situations where big decisions have to be made. I love the leaps of faith they take. Rachel is insanely brave and I was so impressed by her. She is also ridiculously talented at her job.

Mason is amazing. He has so many layers and I loved every single one. I love his passion for his job, his willingness to do hard things, and eventually his capacity to love.

This book had me grinning like crazy most of the book. Every single interaction between Mason and Rachel was amazing. I loved watching their story unfold. I thought the pacing was perfect. Any faster or slower and I would have been annoyed.

This book handles some difficult topics well. I appreciated the care put into those topics.

I could easily read this book again right now - it was that good!

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Oh this is such an adorable read. It’s funny, witty and just what I was hoping for after finishing the Float Plan!! 5 huge stars! Can’t wait to read what she writes next!!

My heart and soul felt so peaceful and serene throughout this story. I ADORED Rachel and Mason. Rachel, Mason, Maisie and Yoko forever! Rachel and Mason complemented each other perfectly. Rain and shine. Both have been through some life-changing events, and I loved how their circumstances brought them together by chance, and how their shared love for the brewery hotel led to them both finding love and healing in a healthy and realistic way! I'm all mushy again 😭.

This was such a lovely quiet and gentle romance that makes you want to curl up on an Adirondack chair with a good book and a nice cold beer on a summer evening. Cheers 🍻.

P.S.: Can't wait to read the next book in this interconnected series, Off the Map.

what to expect:
- a brilliant, curvy single mom
- a moody, thoughtful + 1/2 Japanese hero
- boss + employee
- forced proximity
- an angry, moody cat
- new beginnings
- endearing characters
- green tea + constellations + thoughtful gestures
- small town wanderlust - Kelleys Island exists!
- microbrewery 101 - seriously! I had so much fun learning about this!
- 18+ 🔥 mild + slow burn

cw: sexual assault, mentions of child death and suicide

Rachel is fired from her job as night manager at a luxury hotel, even though she was not in the wrong. A colleague passes her a tip about an opportunity managing a brand new brew hotel in Ohio on an island in Lake Erie. She packs up her three-year-old daughter for the move, but the hotel doesn't at all match her expectations.

I really enjoyed this book. The tone is quite different from Float Plan. There are serious issues (see content warnings below the review), but as the Acknowledgements say, this is a warm and gentle book. There are utterly hilarious and fun scenes. And I simply adore both Rachel and Mason. I would love to escape to the island or at least take a few weeks vacation in one of their cabins.

The opening of each chapter includes translation of words from different languages that don't have a simple match in English. They subtly foreshadow what's to come. I found these beginnings quite unique and fascinating, especially as I love language.

This is the second of the Beck sisters novels. It stands alone and doesn't spoil the previous book. However, I recommend also reading Float Plan, as that is one of my favorite books.

So overall, I highly recommend this, especially if you like beer, interior decorating, karaoke, book clubs, and a sweet romance.

Thank you to SMP Romance and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

Title: The Suite Spot
Author: Trish Doller
Genre: Romance
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Rachel Beck has hit a brick wall. She’s a single mom, still living at home and trying to keep a dying relationship alive. Aside from her daughter, the one bright light in Rachel’s life is her job as the night reservations manager at a luxury hotel in Miami Beach—until the night she is fired for something she didn’t do.

On impulse, Rachel inquires about a management position at a brewery hotel on an island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island. When she’s offered the job, Rachel packs up her daughter and makes the cross country move.

What she finds on Kelleys Island is Mason, a handsome, moody man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Especially one that’s barely more than foundation and studs. It’s not the job Rachel was looking for, but Mason offers her a chance to help build a hotel—and rebuild her own life—from the ground up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read! It was fun to get to see a bit more about Rachel’s sister from Float Plan (loved that, too!), but Rachel’s story was engrossing. I can’t even imagine having her original job catering to the rich and famous and their every whim, but life on Kelleys Island sounds so much more interesting.

I enjoyed how Rachel recognized her faults and made a concerted effort to change throughout the story, growing in her confidence in herself and making good choices. I loved Mason and his honesty about what he was dealing with, and watching these two get together was just pure fun.

Trish Doller was born in Germany but lives in Florida. The Suite Spot is her newest novel.

Rachel Beck is working at a job she loves in Florida when a wealthy customer accuses her of the unthinkable; causing her to lose her job and livelihood. As a mostly single Mom, she tells her ex she's taking their three-year-old daughter, Maisie, to Ohio to start a new life and new job. When she gets there, the beautiful brewery hotel she signed on to manage is not even built yet and she needs to decide whether to stay and see it out or return home to find something else. Mason, the hotel owner, assures her that he didn't mean to lie but thought she wouldn't come if she knew the state of the project and he thought she would be the perfect fit for the job. It also helps that he's very attractive and persuading. Overtime, Rachel becomes more comfortable with the situation and feels as though she and Maisie can live a life here. And her feelings for Mason also continue to grow. Once everything feels perfect, Brian, the ex, throws a wrench in their plans and completely derails everything they've worked so hard for.
I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and a sweet rom-com with a few emotional topics. I haven't read Float Plan (although it is sitting on my TBR) and didn't know these two books were related until reading other reviews. The Suite Spot totally can be read as a standalone novel, but now that I know there is another book with the same characters, I can't wait to dig in to that one. I am probably the only person reading these out of order but at least now we know that it can be done! Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for sharing this review copy with me in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars
Such a lovely and sweetly moving book two in the Beck Sisters Series.

The Suite Spot features Anna's sister and single mom, Rachel, in her attempt to move on from an unjustly thwarted career and failed relationship. Amazingly, the author managed to endear me to a heroine who had come across as uptight, judgmental, and a bit controlling in scenes from the previous book. I liked that Rachel's behavior was addressed, but she was still admittedly working through her feelings about Anna's previously rash decisions and her relationship with Keane. She hadn't suddenly become a perfect heroine.

This book had an enjoyable and gently moving storyline. It was a balm to the higher angst and sadness from book one. Albeit, there was some light angst, and the hero, Mason, did have a sad backstory. Yet, rather than a driving force in the story, it was used to shed light on his brooding characterization and the impact Rachel and Maisie had on his life. As Mason warmed to this unexpected mom and daughter, he became the definition of a cinnamon roll hero. Personally, I'd take him either way, a little grumpy and brooding or as the thoughtful, tea-making man he later became.

Mason and Rachel's relationship progression was realistically portrayed, as well as Rachel's adjustment to life on a seasonal tourist island. Their story was rounded out by a wonderful secondary cast. And like book one, The Suite Spot was full of wit, charm, and swoon-worthy romance.

THE SUITE SPOT

4.5⭐

PLOT - Rachel Beck a single mom trying to keep a dying relationship alive. She was happy with her job as night reservations manager at a luxury hotel in Miami beach until she was fired for no fault of hers.
On impulse Rachel takes up a management position at a brewery hotel on a remote island in Lake Erie called Kelleys island.
She meets Mason a handsome man who knows everything about brewery but running a hotel.
But apart from building a hotel can they rebuild their own lives from ground up.

MY THOUGHTS
The best part in this book for me was the whole small town setting esp the book club experiences.
The intricacies of brewery quite unique and refreshing to read.
The slow burn and age gap romance ..still wish we had more romance from them.
Loved the inter cultural references esp the German and Japanese cuisine incorporated into the book.
Recommend it!!
Thank you Netgalley and St Martin's press for this e arc in exchange for my honest review.

Taking a chance at something you really want sometimes requires a risk. In Trish Doller’s new novel, The Suite Spot (set to be released on March 8th), our main character learns what it means to not only risk your career and life, but your heart.

The Suite Spot hits the spot!! This is the perfect book to pull you out of a slump and/or binge read. This novel toes the line between romance and women’s fiction and Doller does a great job of giving the readers a romance-forward book without letting it encompass the entire plot. At its core, this is a book about a single mother trying to make her dreams come true, while also caring for her child and those she loves.

I almost wish this book had dual POVs so that we could hear more of Mason’s inner thoughts, but I still loved Rachel as a narrator. Another thing I loved was the little cameos of Anna and Keane from Float Plan (which if you haven’t read already, you must)! I appreciated the way Rachel and Mason’s relationship blossomed and how they acknowledged their rough pasts before just jumping into a new relationship.

This single-mom, grump/sunshine, forced proximity romance was just so endearing and has instantly made Doller an auto-buy author for me. While I think I liked Float Plan a bit better, I still really enjoyed this book. I look forward to seeing what Doller will write next.

I loved Trish Doller's debut novel "Float Plan", so I was excited to get an advanced copy of "The Suite Spot", which focuses on Rachel, the sister of "Float Plan" main character Anna. Rachel is a single-mom, still living in Florida with her mom while she works at a luxury Miami Beach hotel as an overnight reservations manager, taking care of their rich & famous clientele. But when Rachel is unfairly fired after being sexually harassed by one of the hotel's regulars (who turns the story around against her), she isn't sure what she is going to do. After getting a job tip from a friend, she applies for a management position at a new brewery hotel that is opening up on an island in Ohio, and is offered the position. Rachel packs up her daughter, and makes the trip to Ohio, only to find that the brewery hotel is still under construction and not ready to open, as the owner, Mason, had implied. However, as he offers her the opportunity to help design the cabins and prepare for the opening, she agrees to stay, and begins to rebuild her life, taking on a job she is growing to love, establishing friendships and ties to the island, and finds herself falling in love with Mason, despite his difficulty in dealing with his past traumas.

I loved "The Suite Spot" just as much as I did "Float Plan". It was heartwarming and sweet, and I loved watching Rachel rebuild her life from the bottom-up, just as she was helping Mason build his brewery from the bottom-up. It was a quick read, and I found myself having a hard time putting it down. I definitely look forward to reading more by Trish Doller!

Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press/St Martin's Griffin for providing me with an advanced copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. "The Suite Spot" is scheduled to be released on 3/8/22.

This book was a great escape! Rachel and her daughter uproot their life for a new start managing/remodeling a brewery hotel. Mason is the owner of the hotel and a sweet connection between all three of them begins almost immediately. Rachel and Mason’s close proximity love story has a very mature feel. They respect each other, the obstacles they face (an essential piece of romance plots) are very true to real life, and the pace of their trust building feels natural. I loved the tight knit island setting and the cast of side characters really added to the warm feeling of the story. I didn’t realize that Rachel was the sister of the main character in The Float Plan at first. You certainly do not need to have read the first Beck sisters book in order to enjoy this one (it’s a completely separate story) but it was fun to get glimpses of Anna and Keane’s life. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to read what Trish Doller’s writes next.

Loved this one. It was an easy, fast read with a lot of heart and emotional heft, even though the novel itself is on the short side. (I do wish we had a few more scenes of Mason and Rachel together). Themes include dealing with grief and creating families. Overall very compelling and touching.

On principle I disliked that Rachel was Mason's employee when they begin the relationship, although the specific circumstances do make it somewhat more palatable.

I was also interested in seeing how characters from Doller's other novel "Float Plan" are portrayed from a different point of view.

Trish Doller's first book The Float Plan in this series was one of my favorite books I read in 2021 so I went in with high hopes right off the bat. The authors writing style, her characters, the settings described, I just loved them all.

Rachel Beck is a single mom who lives with her mother and works at a major hotel chain in Florida. when she is let go due to something she didn't do, she is stressed to find a job to support her daughter and household. while she does maintain a civil relationship with her on again-off again boyfriend and 3 year old daughters father, he is unreliable and doesn't pay child support. after struggling to find a job in town, she decides to take a job offer to manage a brewery/hotel, however, taking this job would mean moving away from her mother and starting over in a new location with her daughter.

Upon arriving on the island she meets her new boss Mason and things aren't as she expected. the hotel that she's supposed to manage isn't done, its still being built.

Mason is a divorced man who hired Rachel to run his hotel/brewery and is kind of a loner. His only companion is a cat who hides from him out days.

These two characters, are the best mix of a grumpy/sunshine dynamic. I loved them as much as I loved Anna and Keane in the first book. Trish Doller's writing and storytelling is sensational!

Thank you so much for an advanced copy of The Suite Spot. This was a cute read!

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Women's Fiction

This was a sweet book. I enjoyed the characters and I enjoyed the story a lot. I think I even liked it a bit more than the author's previous work, The Float Plan. That being said...

Those are really the only positives I can drum up about this book. Was it good? Yes. Was it entertaining? Yes. Was it also completely forgettable in a pile of romance books coming out this spring? Yes, yes it was. This book doesn't stand out from the crowd in terms of romance books, and I don't know if I would buy this one for my shelves honestly. It was a cute read that kept me entertained, but it wasn't really anything memorable or special.

If you like contemporary romances/women's fiction books (or you really liked The Float Plan), you will probably like this book. For me, though, it was a solid three star read that left me kind of feeling meh.

This wasn't as gut-wrenching as Float Plan, but it still hits the heart with its utterly tender moments. It was a really beautiful story!

After getting fired as a reception manager at a luxury hotel, Rachel accepts a position at a hybrid microbrewery and boutique hotel in Kelleys Island, Ohio. And what a lovely setting it was! With the more slow-paced lifestyle and supportive locals, it really complimented this delicate romance.

Mason, the owner of the hotel, was absolutely adorable with his clumsy sweetness. As he requests help from Rachel to bring his vision to life, the smooth transition from business partners to friends to more was so lovely. With Rachel being a single mom amidst co-parenting woes and Mason heavy after a divorce and loss, I loved seeing their relationship take its time, ensuring everyone involved was comfortable.

From book clubs, antique shopping, beer recipes, and Yōkai the grumpy cat, this story was truly charming.

I loved Float Plan, so I knew I had to read Anna's sister Rachel's story. Rachel is stuck at the beginning of this novel - after being sexually harassed, she gets fired from her hotel job. Facing the option of getting a job at a low-budget hotel or taking a chance on an Ohio brew hotel, she chooses Ohio. But the hotel...isn't quite ready for primetime.

Just as the blurbs for this book say, The Suite Spot is truly sweet and comforting. I loved seeing Rachel take on a new challenge with Mason by her side. There's a lot of information on beer and interior decorating here, and I enjoyed getting a taste of both worlds.

Rachel's daughter Maisie provided excellent comic relief, as did Mason's cat Yokai. This is definitely on the lighthearted/feel good side of romances, so keep that in mind when picking it up. But I think most romance readers will enjoy taking a trip with Rachel - I definitely did!

This was such a fantastic book! Although I own the first book in this series, I have not read it yet and I did not feel like it impacted my understanding of this book at all (since the first book is about Rachel's sister).

I could definitely connect with Rachel since I am also the mother of a 3 year old. I would chuckle to myself when references were made to watching Moana for the 452,675,408th time! We only get Rachel's POV, but that just made me more invested and connected to her. I was really rooting for her and loved how she took charge, had creative ideas, and (mostly) didn't back down. She chased her dream while being a single mother and it was a beautiful journey to read about. Mason was such a wonderful hero. He's been through some difficult times and has had heartbreak. He was still so kind and sweet to both Rachel and her daughter throughout the book.
Possibly my favorite part of the story was in the beginning, before Rachel moved to Ohio to work at Mason's brewery hotel, because I knew many of the places in South FL that were being referenced. It was so enjoyable to read a book where I immediately connected with the setting- even if that wasn't the setting throughout the whole book.

Overall, I definitely recommend picking this one up when you need a sweet (closed door, but alludes to what happens) romance. You'll also love this one if you're into beer and breweries! 4.5 stars

Float Plan was one of my favorite reads last year so it’s safe to say I’ve been dying to read this follow up ever since. The author wrote such a beautiful and tender love story that really pulled on my heartstrings but also made me laugh too. A winning combination for me always and I’m so happy to say I loved this one just as much.

There’s a sunshine and grump trope here and I’m quickly realizing that it’s one of my latest faves. Rachel and Mason are both incredibly likable so you’re behind their pairing pretty fast and the addition of Rachel’s daughter, Maisie was just delightful. You do get to check in with Anna and Keane from the first book which is always a treat and it’s set in a cute little town which is another bonus. There is a grief element here once again but the author handles this really beautifully and delivers a really well rounded romance that I adored.
