Rachel is a single mom who decides to uproot her life and move across the country to Ohio to help manage a new hotel.  When she arrives on Kelley's Island she meets Mason who appears to be a bit reserved and not only does he know nothing about how to run a hotel, the hotel isn't even fully built. Rachel decides to help anyway because it's a chance to rebuild her own life and eventually have her dream job.

This quick and adorable read was everything I'd hoped it'd be.  I loved Float Plan and was excited to read a story about the other Beck sister. I love stories where romance isn't the main centerpiece but instead the characters go through their own hardships and lean on each other as they grow and work through their own adversities.  Trish Doller also does a wonderful job of covering some pretty tough and heavy topics. I feel like this was a story of taking chances, friendship, family, love and concurring the past. This is the kind of story where I don't want to say goodbye to the characters and wish I could see what they are doing in a few years. I would also love to visit the fictional hotel Mason and Rachel create. Highly recommend it.

The Suite Spot by Trish Doller is a delightful, heartwarming story about finding love and taking chances.

After reading and loving Float Plan, I knew I had to get my hands on this novel. And Doller delivered again. The Suite Spot was such a charming read that pulled on every single one of my heart strings. It’s the perfect novel to cozy up with on a cold winter day because it will leave your heart feeling toasty warm.

Huge thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the gifted copy.

I received an ARC of this novel from St. Martin's Press via Netgalley in exchange for my review. Float Plan, the previous novel from Trish Doller was one of my favorite books of last year, so when I was granted the opportunity to read a sequel I was thrilled! Although The Suite Spot is really good, it wasn't quite to the level of love I had for Float Plan (and I do recommend reading it before you read The Suite Spot-mainly because it is sooo good!) The Suite Spot is a great story about the main character Rachel, who is forced to make a life-changing job switch in order to give her little girl a better life. When she takes a new job she meets Mason, who has had some life changing events as well. They are a slow burn couple, with a great community of supporting characters that will make you want to live in that town! The story is very sweet or should I say "suite!". I highly recommend!

I really love The Float Plan, so I had high hopes for this book and I was not disappointed. It was so great to get Rachel's story and the setting on Kelleys Island could not have been more perfect or gorgeous. I really enjoyed Rachel and Mason getting to know each other and how organically it felt like they came together. There was the perfect amount of sweetness and tension. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

I loved Float Plan and recommend it often so was excited to see a new book by this author. Really enjoy when background characters in book 1 get their own story in book 2:) Really enjoyed the romance, single mom experience, and multi culti family story:)

A nice palette cleanser of a book. A sweet (suite - lol) story. I thought the character development was a well done. I didn't like the bad guy at all, which is a plus. All in all a nice read.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. If you read Float Plan and loved it, you will enjoy this book, if you haven't read it yet, it's not required.

Rachel Beck is at standstill in her career in hotel management as she juggles single motherhood to 3 year old Maisie and night work at a fancy hotel in Miami Beach. Rachel's sister Anna is in the Caribbean and her mother is a big help with her daughter as Rachel's ex Brian is in and out of their lives as a mostly absent dad. Rachel is working one night when one of the wealthy hotel guests comes on to her inappropriately and tries to sexually assault her. She escapes but is fired by the hotel for telling the guest to GF himself. This particular plot point seemed like an unfortunate tool to get Rachel to consider relocating for an interesting job offer. While Rachel finds employment at another hotel its a huge step down from where she was going in her career.

Rachel decides to try working hotel management at a small craft beer hotel in Ohio near Lake Erie. Except the hotel isn't actually finished and the owner needs Rachel to help with his plans. Mason has his own issues to deal with, his marriage just ended and he feels stuck with his hotel plans. Mason is really good at brewing beer though. Soon Rachel is making progress and making friends.

Rachel and Mason start out as friends - it is a pretty slow burn romance but they seem to fit perfectly Mason has a pretty interesting background and Rachel wants to make The Limestone just perfect.

As the months progress, Mason and Rachel fall in love and then something happens to threaten their happiness and Rachel's career. It wasn't altogether surprising but we do get a HEA.

Quick enjoyable read. TW for sexual harassment/assault, grief over losing a child. 4/5☆

GENTLE.

That was the vibe of this entire book. A gentle and loving slow-burn romance that was the kind of read I didn’t know I needed when I picked it up.

I looooooved Rachel. I thought she was a strong single Mom. She’s trying to figure things out and make the best decisions for her and Maisie. I liked that she was vulnerable and honest. And I love the way Rachel connected with Mason. Mason was one of the those dreamy quiet heroes. A solid presence who’s continually there and does the tiny things that make your heart skip a beat. There’s exploration of themes of loss, finding a second chance at love all underneath a beautiful backdrop on an island in Lake Eerie.

It’s fast paced but never in a way that felt rushed. Plenty of months fly by as Rachel and Mason swirled around each other in an ever closing vortex. I couldn’t get enough of their quiet moments and it had just the right touch of steam.

There’s lots of goodness here. I do wish there was a bit longer of an ending or even an epilogue. Lots of heartstrings were pulled and this book gave off a beautiful message of hope.

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: a little
- Romance: two brief open that quickly fades to black
- Trigger/Content Warnings: divorce (recounted), single parent, loss of a child (recounted), sexual assault (occurs in the first chapter)

This was cute! I liked Rachel and Mason. It’s an easy, sweet read. Nothing life changing but it’s a nice little story!

Trish Dollar’s Float Plan was a surprise favorite for me earlier this year, and somehow The Suite Spot may have pushed its way ahead of Float Plan for favorite in this series. The second book has just as many heartfelt, emotional moments as its predecessor, and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the series.

The Suite Spot focuses on Rachel Beck, Anna’s sister that we met briefly in the previous book. She’s introduced as a responsible, single mother who hasn’t really seen any reason to stray from her comfort zone. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like Rachel as a protagonist, based on what I’d seen from her in the previous book, but all those concerns vanished when I started her story. If anything, I felt myself connecting even more to Rachel.

When she’s fired from her comfortable job as the night reservations manager and things seem to be moving in the wrong direction with her ex (and her daughter Maisie’s father), she decides it’s time for a change and applies for a manager position at a brewery hotel that would take her across the country to start a new life. When she gets there, she’s met with a hotel that isn’t built and a grumpy owner (Mason) that gives her the opportunity to help build the hotel from the ground up, along with a new life for herself.

There are so many things I loved about this book, and I feel like it’s best that I just list some of them off:
- grumpy/sunshine trope
- somewhat of a friends to lovers trope
- small town setting on Kelleys Island
- the little ball of sunshine that is Maisie, Rachel’s daughter
- well-developed characters
- Rachel is mentioned as being somewhat overweight, but it doesn’t define her/her story

This is a sweet romance that focuses on the growth of both characters as individuals and as a couple. There are many moments of community that I loved. The Suite Spot is well-written, kept me engaged, and it delivered on all the heartfelt, emotional moments I was hoping for, with humor and depth surrounding them. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this series, and I would never say no to more Rachel and Mason in my future. I could talk about this book for ages, and I know this is one that I'll be coming back to reread.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I loved Float Plan, and I was so excited to see that Trish Doller would be continuing with a romance for Anna’s sister.
Rachel is a single mom who recently got fired from her job and needs to find something quickly. She ends up accepting a position in Ohio, where she meets Mason.
As with Float Plan, Doller skillfully navigated some heavier topics while also writing a romance that is hard to put down. I’m a big fan.

Loved it. A sweet and charming romance. From the challenging issue at the beginning to the one at the end, the tale kept my interest and hoping for the best. I didn't realize this was a follow-up to a story I had read until those characters were mentioned. I read so many books in between that it didn't occur to me. So glad I was provided a copy by the publisher through NetGalley. Happy to get to know the other sister.

I loved Float Plan and this book sealed my fate as a forever Trish Doller fan! The flawless way she weaves romance, healing, travel, family, and community speaks to my book-loving heart.

I knew even before reading this book that The Suite Spot would likely appeal to me because I grew up in northern Ohio and I’m very familiar with Kelleys Island life. So, for me personally, there was something nostalgic and personal that spoke to me in these words. That being said, this story was so much more than a place. It’s a beautiful story of love, and growth, and second chances. Doller eloquently handles tough subjects of body image and family tragedy… and trials and tribulations of finding happiness.

By the end my heart felt so cozy and warm… And there was beer! That’s another thing about a Trish Doller book. These characters are passionate and it’s so much fun to read about what people love. This books gives me the urge to make buy teapots and make tea, go on beer tastings (I would try to make beer but there’s no doubt that would end in disaster so I’ll leave it to the experts), go thrift shopping, sing karaoke, whip out my yoga mat… and take a trip to small island on a big lake.

I highly recommend this book. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down and I have a feeling anyone that likes books I like, will feel the exact same way.

Thank you netgalley for the advance copy.

There’s so much I want to say about The Suite Spot because I loved it. I adored it. It is one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. I. In the first paragraph of the acknowledgments the author states that she hopes we felt the comfort she intended. And I wholly did. With Trish Doller’s first adult book, The Float Plan, (about this MC’s younger sister Anna - it’s great!) I remember reading it and wanting to travel. I wanted to go to all these beautiful places she described and go sailing and live. And with this book the entire time I kept reading and thinking this is my home - so to read that author’s note…she achieved what she wanted. I live in Northwest Ohio. I truly love Ohio. I enjoy traveling but I love my home. And Trish Doller just nails every description of Ohio she writes. I know the exact stretch of Rt. 2 Mason and Rachel were driving. I know what part of Sandusky they were at when they had perch sandwiches. I went to church camp at Lakeside and routinely celebrated 4th of July on that beach opposite of Kelleys Island. I even know the target they shopped at. And even if I hadn’t been personally familiar with those locations the writing is so good I would have felt like I did…which is how I felt reading The Float Plan. I could wax poetic about this book (I might be doing that now) but I can’t wait for it’s publication day in March so I can purchase a copy for my shelf and badger everyone I know into reading it.

Well, let’s just say that this “Hit the Spot!”

A sweet, endearing, funny, rom-com, with a few serious undertones, “The Suite Spot” delivered!

I, admittedly, had a few reservations going into this one. Kaceey and I recently listened to this author’s prior novel, The Float Plan as both books are part of a series (and we were given an arc of The Suite Spot) and sadly, The Float Plan left much to be desired. Luckily, I had nothing to worry about.

Here, we have Rachel Beck (Anna’s sister), who, after being fired from her job at a Florida hotel, uproots her entire life, including her daughter, and takes a job at what she thinks is a boutique hotel on Kelleys Island in Ohio. The joke is on her though as there is no hotel. Mason, the owner, needs Rachel to build and furnish it.

Rachel is kind, funny and full of spunk. Mason is gruff, difficult, and extremely handsome. What develops between these two is a friendship and yes, some crazy sparks. Yes, this is predictable, but it’s also extremely sweet and fun and it put a smile on my face during trying times.

A fun, sweet, buddy read with Kaceey.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Trish Doller for this fabulous arc. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next!

Thank you to St Martin's Press, St Martin's Griffin, and NetGalley for an ARC of The Suite Spot in exchange for my honest opinion.
I LOVED Trish Doller's 2021 release Float Plan and had high expectations for this book and they were absolutely MET. I loved this storyline, and I could not put it down once I started reading it.
Rachel, sister of the main character in Float Plan, is in a tough spot, living in the home where she was raised, with her mother who helps with childcare for her four-year-old daughter, and working nights as a hotel concierge. When a job opportunity comes to work as a hotel manager at a small inn/brewery in Ohio, Rachel decides it's the nudge she's needed to move out and far away from everything she's known, including the father of her child who has never been able to commit to her.
I loved seeing Rachel establish herself in a new place and make connections. And as an avid craft beer drinker, I loved reading about the different beers being developed at the brewery!
I'm excited to wholeheartedly recommend this book (and Float Plan!) to others who haven't yet experienced Trish Doller's writing.

Rachel Beck is a single mother, still living with her mother, and in a rocky relationship with a man that refuses to commit, and is also her daughter Grace's father. She dreams of owning her own hotel, but she's still struggling to make ends meet as a night manager at a prestigious hotel in Miami Beach. When she gets fired after being falsely accused by a guest, she looks for a new start. Her friend suggests a new brewery hotel in Ohio, and she takes the job sight unseen. When she arrives, she is alarmed to find empty land with no hotel and a handsome yet moody boss who knows everything about beer and nothing about hotels. But she soon finds where she belongs when she is able to help build the hotel from the ground up the way she dreamed.
I love how these characters help each other through their own personal issues. By allowing Rachel free rein with the hotel, she is able to mature and live her own dreams and be a more responsible mother. And poor Mason allows Rachel's sunny nature and friendship to help him recover from a tragic loss and deal with his grief. This was a nice escape from reality for awhile and made me long for a trip to a beautiful isolated island myself.
I received a complimentary advance reader copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

If you're looking for a quick and sweet read to get you out of a reading slump, look no further than this book!

I flew through this in just a a couple short sittings and quickly got to know and fall in love with the characters. Rachel moves across the country with her daughter for work but may end up finding more than a new job when she meets her new boss, Mason. Mason is in process of fulfilling his dream of opening a hotel on an island after some terrible hardships in his life.

He's rough around the edges but always sweet and gives me major Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls vibes.

Thanks Netgalley for the EARC of this in exchange for an honest review. This will be available March of 2022.

I just finished Float Plan and was excited to see that there would be a follow up book starring Anna’s sister, Rachel.

I thought it was a sweet book with a good message and the bond of mother and daughter was sweet. Rachel gets fired from her hospitality job and accepts one in Ohio. When she moves there with her daughter she finds out the hotel isn’t even built yet. Rachel works for a man named Mason. He is dealing with his own past and they learn to work together and form a relationship.
