I read the acknowledgments, where the author said she wanted to write something soft and gentle, and nodded. She succeeded! I adored this book as much as The Float Plan but didn't cry nearly as much. It was the perfect read for right now, when the world is stressful enough. Just curl on the couch with a cup of tea (or a microbrew) and lose yourself in the story. I adored Rachel, Mason, and Maisie and the little family they formed, and it was fun to revisit Anna and Keane. The descriptions of beer were so vivid and now I'm really craving beer!
I loved the Float Plan so when I saw that Trish Dollar I had a new book coming out I made it mine without finding out anything more about it. While this book is about Anna from the Float Plans sister it is a completely different book While there are some weighty issues discussed, it felt like a much lighter book. That doesn't make it less satisfying, In fact, it was exactly what I needed.
Rachel is a single mom doing the best she can, She lives with her mom, works overnight at a luxury hotel, and tries to giver her daughter as much stability she can, Her ex is not a reliable father and was never a reliable partner and even if some days she thinks he is the best she can do, she knows her daughter at least deserves more. When Rachel suddenly loses her job she is given the opportunity to run a hotel in Ohio it seems like just the stroke of luck Rachel needs to make some life changes and stop settling for good enough. However, when Rachel arrives what she finds is not a functioning hotel but rather a work almost in progress and a grumpy owner. Staying and building the kind of hotel she envisions could be the biggest risk she has ever made but it could also come with some unexpected rewards.
It is well documented that I love a grumpy hero and Mason is no exception. I loved him, He has reasons for his surliness but he still put himself out there and made himself vulnerable. Rachel was so easy to root for as she found her own strength and self-confidence, I loved the two of them discovering each other and cautiously easing into trust. Warm supporting characters and beer descriptions that had me ready to head to the nearest brewery added vibrancy to the story. Outside of their back stories, this was a relatively low angst story. Rachel never makes a misstep, there is no friction in their relationship, and the one conflict that pops up is dealt with easily, I enjoyed the comfort but everything came a touch too easily for me,
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sometimes you get lucky to be granted NetGalley approval for a book you are super excited about. Naturally you cancel all plans to read it immediately. Float Plan, book #1 in the Beck Sisters series, was one of my favorite books of 2021, so I’ve been eagerly anticipating The Suite Spot and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. This is a charming book you can just fall into. I loved Rachel and Mason and the entire community surrounding them. Both books have a good balance between real world problems and the happily ever after of a romance novel. My only complaint is how small of a role Keane played in this book…
If you haven’t already read Float Plan, start with that first. And if you love it as much as I did, chances are you will love this one as well.
I had some concerns starting this read. Having finished the previous book, The Float Plan recently, and finding it well, underwhelming.
Knowing that the focus of this book would be on the other sister Rachel, it did little to squelch my trepidation. In The Float Plan, she came off as unlikeable and just mean?💁🏻♀️
But I needn’t have worried. In the end, I ended up loving and rooting for Rachel throughout.
Rachel was just fired from her night hotel-management job.
After an opportunity arises to assist managing a boutique hotel based around a brewery in Ohio, she jumps at the chance. Rachel, with her four-year-old daughter in tow, heads west (well…northwest to be precise).
Once arriving, she quickly realizes the owner of the hotel, Mason has run a bit of a bait and switch. The hotel is nothing more than a blank slab of concrete and a dream. Seriously?
Can Rachel and Mason make their dream a reality?
A cute, sweet rom-com I enjoyed from beginning to end and loved Rachel and Mason!❤️
Pleasantly surprised, I look forward to the next release from this author!
A rom-com weekend buddy read with Susanne!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press.
I didn't find there was much build up of the romance, or at least enough to really fall for the characters, but it was sweet. I mostly liked the story around the hotel and brewery setup, as well as the amazing grumpy cat. A feel good read.

A “suite” Midwest is best book for lovers of the outdoors, diy, and of course some “forbidden” romance. I say forbidden because these two just deny deny deny their chemistry.
Synopsis: This story focuses on the other Beck sister, Rachel. After being fired from her job at a luxury hotel, she takes a leap of faith and moves to a remote island in Lake Erie off the coast of Ohio. Not only is the job not what she expected neither is the quite, handsome owner Mason. Over the course of the book you wonder if the job is all Rachel is falling for.
My thoughts:
Rachel is the perfect protagonist, she’s strong, daring, and the best mom she can be
Mason is the quite, hardworking, and patient man you can’t wait to see without his guard up
Throw in an adorable little girl, some wonderful small town friends, and the hotel project of a lifetime and you’ve got this awesome little read.
I fell in LOVE with Trish Doller’s writing reading Float Plan. It’s clear she goes above and beyond to research and genuinely understand what she is writing about and that comes out in this novel too. I love the continuation of the Beck sisters, hearing a little about what Anna is up to after Float Plan really made my heart smile.
[ RATING 4.5 out of 5 ] Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for the eARC to read and review!
"The Suite Spot" was so lovely and sweet! The slow development of the romance was perfect for the main characters who are afraid to risk their hearts again for love.
After Rachel loses her job at a fancy/wealthy hotel in the most infuriating and unfair of ways and her ex-boyfriend once again shows how unreliable he is when it comes to their daughter, Rachel packs up her life to take a chance on a job offer that seems too good to be true in order to finally live a fulfilling life.
Rachel is surprised to find not only an unfinished hotel/brewery but a rather good-looking, recluse of a boss named Mason. But this new venture soon becomes a chance for both Rachel and Mason to rebuild their lives from the ground up.
Mason loves beer and has excelled at brewing. I like when he gushes about fermentation - so adorkable! Yet it’s been a challenge to keep his family’s history/legacy alive and build a hotel/brewery on a remote island in Ohio after the devastating loss of his child and subsequent divorce. Love is too painful to consider. Enter Rachel whose kindness, understanding, and capabilities - not to mention her adorable daughter, Maisie - begins to undo the carefully constructed walls he’d placed around his heart.
I like that the romance is more in the background because we get to really focus on the small and big changes Rachel and Mason undergo and how far they’ve come towards reopening their hearts to love and family. Neither pushes the other into something they’re not emotionally ready for.
"The Suite Spot" is the quieter sister to book 1 but just as heartwarming and significant. I like how heartache turns into an opportunity to reclaim one’s sense of self in order to have a purposeful future that has meaning. There’s a lot to love about this book.
Maisie is so cute and I like how her character kind of breaks the ice (tension) between Rachel and Mason. Mason has a mean cat with the most perfect of names, Yōkai. I don’t know much about brewing but it was really interesting to learn. Rachel’s ideas for the hotel/brewery sound cool and unique. Their passions were infectious. And I like that the author headed each chapter with a word from different languages and definition to encompass the emotion of each chapter.
"The Suite Spot" was another great read from Trish Doller. Reading this and "Float Plan" (book 1) have been the highlight of 2021. I can’t wait to see what stunning new romance she delivers next.
Thank you to @stmartinspress for my gifted copy of The Suite Spot, by @TrishDoller. This book is out March 8th, and I can’t wait to tell y’all all why I loved it so much!
Rachel Beck is having a hard time at home (she lives with her mom and with her young daughter, and is trying to keep a relationship alive). Her bright spot is her job: she’s a night reservations manager at a luxury hotel in Miami Beach. However, she gets fired for something that is absolutely not her fault, and is devastated. On a whim, she applies to a management hotel in a small town on an island in Lake Erie. Upon arriving there, she meets Mason, a “handsome, moody” man who doesn’t know much about owning and running a hotel, so Rachel has the chance to help build it from the ground up.
First and foremost, I LOVED Mason. He’s such a dreamy book boyfriend, especially how he warms up to Rachel’s daughter. I also loved Kelleys Island, the island that Rachel moves to. The community is so sweet and supportive, and it sounds like a total dream to live on (minus the isolation). Doller is extremely talented at creating a world you’d want to live in.
I also loved how Doller worked in real world issues, so it wasn’t just a total dream every minute. The issues that were presented were very real life issues that anyone could be dealing with on a regular basis. If you want to know more, message me, or check out Doller’s trigger warnings in the front of the book.
The Suite Spot is part of a series. You don’t need to read the first book (Float Plan) to read this book, but the ending of it will be spoiled. With that, happy reading!
I thoroughly loved Trish Doller's novel The Float Plan, so when I saw the sequel, I had to grab it. While it is the second in the series, reading the first is not necessary - although it's such a good book you should anyway.
This time around, Anna's sister Rachel is the one dealing with a big change in her life. I enjoyed this gentle read, and loved visualizing the designs for the brewery hotel. I thought the characters developed well, and while it wasn't as emotional as the Float Plan, it was a great read and I highly recommend it.
The Suite Spot is the perfect comfort read. I enjoyed the details of the characters putting together a new resort and their design choices and also appreciate the diverse cast of characters (especially in a not so diverse setting) and the inclusion of parenting as a part of the daily life of the characters.
After loving the Float Plan last year, Trish Doller has been a must read author, so getting an arc through NetGalley was a major score for me! I absolutely loved the Suite Spot, and it was so fun to see some of my favorite characters from the Float Plan back as well. The Suite Spot was another well done romance book that warmed my heart and gave me travel FOMO once again.
The Suite Spot is about taking chances, standing up for yourself and your family, and becoming a stronger person, with a side of love along the way. This book is a cold glass of beer on a hot day, or whatever else makes you smile!
Wow!! I loved this book! Such a great follow up to Float Plan. I loved Rachel and her endurance and strength and the gentleness of Mason and their stories intertwining. I don’t even like beer but I’m interested in their hotel!
This was a great addition to the Beck Sisters series and I really enjoyed every page. I love the nature aspects of it and how starting over is scary but it can lead to so many new and wonderful things.
This is the second book in a series about 2 sisters. Since I loved the first book, Hope Floats, which concerned the younger sister Anna, I was really looking forward to this book, which focused on the older sister Rachel. I wasn’t disappointed! This book was so well-written, interesting, and entertaining that I read it in one sitting.
As the story begins, Rachel is in her late 20’s, living in her childhood home in Florida with her mother and 3 year old daughter. She’s been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Brian, the irresponsible father of her daughter Maisie. She’s managed to become the night manager in a luxury Miami hotel, a job she loves, when she’s unjustly fired after rejecting the advances of an important hotel guest.
Devastated after being let go, Rachel takes on the challenge of moving to an island in northern Ohio to manage a boutique hotel adjacent to a brewery. Upon arrival, Rachel discovers the hotel hasn’t even been built yet, but she decided to stay anyway. As Rachel rises to the challenge of overseeing the building of the hotel, she and Maisie settle into life in the close-knit community. Rachel also becomes increasingly attracted to her boss Mason Brown, a brewmaster, who is still reeling from the recent death of his daughter and subsequent divorce.
I think the author did a great job writing about Rachel and Mason’s developing relationship. I enjoyed reading and learning about brewing beer and furnishing a hotel. In summary, this is a well-written, satisfying book about characters I liked, and I highly recommend it.
Trish Doller has quickly become a favorite author of mine. I loved the Float Plan and was so excited to read the Suite Spot. This book has it all, forced proximity romance, plus a heroine on her way to fix up a dilapidated resort on an adorable island. I flew through this one on a recent flight, but loved every minute of it! The characters were fun and relatable, the story was enjoyable, and it felt like a made-for-Christmas story...just set in the dead of summer. I can't wait to recommend this one to all of my friends!
Disclaimer: I received the ARC from the publisher through Net Galley. All opinions are my own.
This book....it was just how the author described in her acknowledgements, warms and gentle. It made me feel like I was sitting on the back porch of our Idaho vacation rental on a cold morning snuggled up under a cozy blanket with a good book and hot coffee. It was SO good. I love love loved the setting and want to live on Kelley's Island and be besties with Rachel and Avery. I loved the characters, the story line, the pace and everything from start to finish. It's definitely not an adventurous/exciting story like Float Plan so don't go in expecting that. Expect a sweet cozy romance that will leave you feeling like Trish Doller just reached through the book and gave you a big warm hug 🥰
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!
3.5 stars.
I was super excited to read this book, and I was so happy to be able to read an ARC of this book. This book is the second in a series but can be read as a standalone. I read Float Plan a few months, ago and it has become one of my all-time favourite books. While I didn't enjoy 'The Suite Spot' as much as Float Plan I still think that it was worth the read.
This book follows Rachel, who is Anna's (main character from book 1) sister. She is a single mom and after losing her job she moves to Ohio for another job where she meets Mason. They slowly bond and eventually develop feelings for one another.
At times I found the book a little slow so it was a bit more difficult to get through, but I liked the characters and the plot overall. However, I think that there wasn't too much going on and the story felt very sweet with no twists or bumps. Personally, I would've liked to have more of a dynamic storyline but I still enjoyed reading the book nonetheless.
Overall, I would recommend this if you are looking for a drama-free cute romcom.

I am very impressed with this book The Suite Spot by Trish Doller. It was the perfect book in the Beck Sisters series.
Rachel has pretty much hit rock bottom when a chance comes along that seems to be the perfect fit for her and her daughter.
The author gave me so much to feel for these characters in this book without having a lot of the usual heavy drama in so many books I have read.
After I closed this book, I realized I would love to be able to visit the location of this book. It was perfect setting for the story. Thank you so much Trish Doller for taking me there.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC. This is my personal review.
Sweet slow burn romance combined with a new job and a single Mom create a magical story with plenty of zing and a bit of drama. Kept my attention and left me happy.
It took me way too long to make the connection to Float Plan, but that did not affect how much I loved this book! I was so invested in both Rachel and Mason. And all the hotel stuff was so fun! I loved that this didn't really have much of the overdramatic love. It felt natural and wasn't insta-love. I loved Rachel's mom! And I loved the moments with Mason's mom as well!
