The Suite Spot is the follow up novel to Trish Doller's The Float Plan. This new novel follow's the original female main character's sister, Rachel, who is safe and cautious and never been out of state. When her career in Florida crumbles, she needs a fresh start for her and her daughter, and takes a new job out of state at a brewery hotel on Kelley's Island. When she gets to Kelley's Island and meets the owner, Mason, she finds quite the challenge and slowly begins to hope for more in life.
I really enjoyed The Suite Spot! For me, I found it that I enjoyed it more than the debut novel of The Float Plan!
What worked for me:
- The relationship. I really enjoyed Rachel and Mason's relationship! The hurdles they had to overcome were realistic and well portrayed. The development and pacing made sense. Mason was supportive and minimal drama.
- Maisie. I enjoyed Maisie's character and I felt she brought a nice element that The Float Plan was missing. She was sweet and endearing and a nice balance for some of the harder moments in the book.
- The return of Anna and Keane. It's always nice to have old favorites back.
- The focus on mental health and the presence of real obstacles that real-life couples often face.
What fell a little short:
- Rachel. I enjoyed Rachel for the most part, but everyone in a while she'd get on my nerves, such as her hasty return to Florida without stopping to think things through and seek advice
- Aside from that, not much else. It was a really enjoyable read.
I would recommend this book for fans of The Float Plan, romance readers, and specifically readers who want a little more grit, emotion, and impact in their romance novels.

I knew I loved Trish Doller’s writing after Float Plan, but this just confirmed she is an auto-read author for me from now on and I’m going to have to check out her backlist!!
Things I loved:
-both characters were so likeable and so deserving of a second chance at finding their person
-Rachel is authentic and relatable
-grumpy/sunshine and add in a cute kid who helps to win over the grump
-loved checking in on Anne and Keane and the references to Float Plan
-sweet and real, and deals with some tough real life raw and emotional issues

I was all about cute towns for my summer reads. The Suite Spot was set in a small town on an island in Ohio.
In the book, Rachel and her daughter pack up and move to Ohio after she loses her hotel job in Florida. She takes a job as the manager of a beer brewery and inn but the job is not quite as advertised.
This was such a sweet romance between Rachel and Mason. I loved the setting and descriptions of the brewery and inn. The small town atmosphere and groups of neighbors were so heartwarming.
The Suite Spot would be another great summer or beach read to add to your list.
Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for my review copy.

Rachel is a single mom, struggling to make ends meet to provide for her daughter. She works nights, or ... worked nights before she was fired after a he said she said sexual harassment incident with one of the hotel's richest guest. Enter stage left, the opportunity in Ohio to manage a new brewhotel a colleague at Aquamarine has a connection to.
The Suite Spot is the second book in the Beck Sisters series, following up after Float Plan. The novels are shorter and perfect quick bites if you don't have weeks or months to sit down a read a book. Rachel and Mason's relationship is complicated from the beginning, navigating both the boss/subordinate lines as well as Mason struggling with grief past and present.
I thought the book was really well written and have already added the third book (coming in 2023) to my Goodreads "Want to Read" shelf. Trish Doller has a way of writing that captures your attention and keeps you wanting to flip the next page. It's almost sad when the book ends and you have to wait for the next one. The Suite Spot is a story of personal rebuilding, love, and all the struggles that come with them and was worth every minute of my time. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin for the free copy in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Let me start this out by stating how much I LOVED the first book in this series! Float Plan was an enthusiastic 5 starts and I have done multiple re-reads. While the second book in this series didn't contend with the first book, it was definitely an relatable and enjoyable read.
What I loved:
1. Rachel and Mason's slow burn romance had me rooting for them the whole time. They were easy to love so of course I was immediately shipping them.
2. The small town setting of this story was *chef's kiss* and really transported me there.
3. This book was well paced with great character development.

I rarely am able to read a book in a day (mom to two toddlers here), but I devoured The Suite Spot in like 24 hours.
Float Plan really took me by surprise last year and I was so excited about The Suite Spot which released earlier this year. If you have read Float Plan, you know that it is such a heartwarming romance, but it also deals with grief and that made it a little heavier. The Suite Spot also had grief woven into the story, but this one definitely had a little more of a lighter feel to it than Float Plan, but it was still just as good!
The Suite Spot follows Rachel and her young daughter, Maisie as they pick up their life and move to the small island town of Kelleys Island off the coast of Lake Erie to help a grieving man build a destination cabin resort & brewery. I was cheering for Rachel and Mason the whole way and the slow burn was totally worth the wait. I was completely transported to this charming remote town and I’m starting to see that Trish Dollar is a master of both the destination and the heartwarming journey she takes us on to get there. She is now an auto-buy author for me!

Thank you so much St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the gifted copies! All opinions are my own.

I adored Float Plan and it was an emotional heavy hitter. I was expecting that same punch with The Suite Spot but for me it didn't deliver. This book was full of romance and interaction between the couple but it seemed equally important to the development of the heroine, Rachel, that we see her success as a hotel manager and we don't get to see the end result on page in the ARC. I appreciated that we were there for her journey but I would have loved to see her success too. The last act of the book is instead devoted to a custody battle that almost comes out of left field, there are whispers in the second act but nothing that would suggest that amount of attachment from the father until it happens in the third act.
I appreciate so much of what Doller did with this book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Float Plan.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. This is weird to say because I really liked the premise and as a single mother myself, I should have related. I just found this extremely boring. I wasn't interested in the romance. I found the two leads just didn't have any real spark that I could feel or connect to. I also wasn't interested in the brewery subplot and found myself wanting to skip ahead a lot.
It felt a little like a hallmark movie, in that you know there is supposed to be a romance but you fail to see it represented. I know I'm being harsh, but it just wasn't great. It also took me a long time to read mostly because I dreaded picking it up.

Looking for a cozy romance book to get you through the fall months? Well look no further! Trish Doller has done it once again. Her novel Float Plan (book 1), Took you on a romance across the ocean with the first sister, Where finding love can happen just about anywhere, even the sea. However, With The Suite Spot (Book 2), This cozy romance keeps you inland in a resort that resembles (to me) the Smoky Mountains with sister number two.
When Rachel finds herself jobless, She knows she needs to make a change fast. When her friend mentions to her that there is a DREAM JOB awaiting for her, Rachel finally decides to take the chance. With moving to a remote place FAR away from her typical city life, She finds herself not only falling in love with the place she is newly hired at, But may find herself falling for the owner as well.
Loved this novel and love anything Trish Doller has wrote thus far. I can't wait to read "Off the Map" that is being published in 2023!

A fantastic follow up to Doller's Float Plan. Adorable characters, adorable banter, adorable book! Perfect for the fans of Katherine Center, Jennifer Weiner, Elin Hilderbrand and Kristin Hannah.

Such a cute story. I think I I liked it more than the first book in the series. Loved the setting and the characters. I really enjoyed this one

Hello, auto-buy author!
Float Plan stole my heart last year and so did this book.
Doller just knows how to write characters with such realness and sweetness. The entire time, I enjoyed following a single mom (of a daughter my daughter’s abs). It warmed my heart to read this story.
Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my copy.

New book boyfriend alert!
Mason is everything: grumpy, rugged, thoughtful, and sweet.
The follow up to last year’s favorite, FLOAT PLAN, was sooo sweet. The sequel has all the things I loved from the first book: one character helping another grieve, thoughtful romance, and bonding experiences between our MCs.
I loved the hotel/hospitality setting of this story. Even though I’m not a huge fan or beer, I loved the thought of a brewery/boutique hotel combo.
The only downside: the ending was a little rushed/flat. I wanted more.
Thank you to Netgalley for my ARC copy. The Suite Spot is out now!

I finished this book somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, but it’s the perfect beach read. Fluffy and happy endings.
It’s the 2nd book in the Beck Sisters series, which I didn’t know until after I read this one. Definitely fine as a stand alone. The Float Plan is the first.
We follow Rachel, a single 28 year old mother and the other Beck sister, in this novel. After being unjustly dismissed from her job at a fancy resort in Florida and dealing with her worthless “baby daddy”, she accepts a job to work at a resort on an island in Ohio without setting a foot there first. She arrives to find no resort, but a grieving & brooding man, Mason, with plans to build a resort & brewery.
What I liked:
- New beginnings & happy endings
- Welcoming small town community
- There is a fun book club in the book - they sing karaoke the first time Rachel goes
- A hard working mama bear who designs & turns the resort into reality
Bleh:
- Predictable
- Mason deceiving Rachael about the job & free housing (= living in his house)
So, more to like than not. And I’ll probably read The Float Plan now.
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

Cozy and cute, with a fun cameo by the characters from Float Plan. Not sure I'd read a third installment, though.

I enjoyed this little “vacation from life” wrapped up in a book. So much more than a romance book, the story tackles some heavy topics in a way that doesn’t over power the light hearted feel of the book.

I enjoyed Float Plan and felt like I learned something new with the descriptions of sailing. I also enjoyed Suite Spot. I was left wanting more and felt like the story ended too soon. The supporting characters were as interesting as the main characters. I look forward to the next book from Trish Doller and I hope she will re-visit both Beck sisters in the future (maybe a Christmas reunion book).

After reading and loving Float Plan I was so excited to dive into The Suite Spot. However I had a hart time connecting with Rachel and Mason in The Suite Spot. Decided to DNF at 30%.

4 out of 5 stars - I'll tell you to read it, if you ask me
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for this advanced copy. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Book Summary:
Rachel Beck works at a Miami Beach luxury hotel as an overnight concierge. When there’s a situation of “he said, she said” with a rich and powerful guest, Rachel is immediately let go. In order to support herself and her child, Rachel reaches out about a position at a brewery hotel on a tiny island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island that a friend informed her about. She accepts the job, simply because it is a source of stability.
Mason, her new boss, is a handsome, reclusive man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Rachel finds the hotel is bare bones and definitely not ready for guests. She also finds that her accommodations are a room in Mason’s home on the property. It may not be what she was expecting, but she jumps at the chance to help repair her life and build the hotel from the ground up.
Review:
I really liked getting to know the characters in The Suite Spot. I could relate to Rachel’s situation about unwanted advances in the service industry. Sadly, I could also totally see a company firing her due to “he said, she said” BS when the other side is a rich and powerful man.
The characters were fun and lively, the drama was something I could totally see happening, and I was brought back to my business trips to Sandusky, OH. I definitely looked up maps more than once to reference the locations mentioned in the book.
I enjoyed the book so much that I went back and read the first book in the series about Rachel’s sister!

Set on a lake in Northern Ohio, I really enjoyed the setting and the small town vibe. I wanted a bit more chemistry/meaningful interactions between Rachel and Mason, everything moved too quickly to feel believable. But, overall, I enjoyed reading this and can’t wait for Eamon’s book next!
