The title of this collection, And Other Essays, is supposed to be ironic. But there's nothing ironic about this cerebral and thought-provoking collection.

The stand out piece is Advice on Writing Your Suicide Note which made me think of a Cyanide and Happiness strip, where someone is writing a suicide note, which ends with the punchline: You misspelled "useless."

This audio anthology of Cohen's essays is a follow-up to A Place to Read and reading is still one of his main obsessions. But Cohen writes about literature, learning, and life, with equal grace.

I listened to this audiobook alongside the digital copy of this book. The narrator complimented the content perfectly and I would certainly rate his narration 5*.

Michael Cohen has here written a collection of essays pondering many areas of life. After reading this my future reading list has expanded as I'm keen to explores some of the subject matters further, many recommendations noted within the essays.

Agonist is my favorite essay of them all. There were many quotes within this essay I could have highlighted here however as an avid journaling enthusiast and someone with some health issues the following quoted from the essay touched me the most:
"The suffering body can be distracted by writing; the result may transcend mortality and thus the suffering body."
This has not only set off my own wonderings its also.

Other essays I found notable were Don not read the whole thing, Advice on writing your own suicide not and At the gym.

Overall this collection is a mix of thought provoking and interesting essays written clearly and succinctly and I would recommend anyone who enjoys analyzing & questioning life and everything in-between.
