I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
Very trope-y and typical. I would not recommend this book to anyone. Boring and overused. Not up my alley.
Good concept. Fairly predictable and I think too many perspectives. It would have been better if it had only been two characters' perspectives or only one character's.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
A thriller and a half in these pages. Such well done writing that keeps you guessing the whole time. I loved the main character in this book and the way they were brought to life over the course of the book.
Friends, Mia, Scarlett, Sammy, and Riley are off to Whisper Island where they will concentrate on their artwork and enjoy some time away from it all. But they are not alone, Sammy's brother Rob and his new girlfriend, Opal are there. Which makes things uncomfortable for some. So much for a girl's time away. Then one of them is found dead. But that is only the beginning. They are alone on the island, aren't they? Is someone else there? Who would want to hurt them? What secrets do some of them have? Apparently, they have a few, causing them to wonder who can be trusted. The characters are trapped on an island. Soon there are more deaths and suspicion. It has the how-well-do-you-know-your-friends- vibe. This book is a quick fun read which does not take much thought.
Carissa Ann Lynch's Whisper Island is nothing that hasn't been done before. With an oversaturated suspense genre, a book must really have something special to make it stand out. Unfortunately, Whisper Island didn't. This novel about four friends who head off to an Alaskan island for three months to focus on their art and connect, read rather amateurishly and failed to hold my attention. With all of the characters melding into one due to the lack of a distinct voice, I couldn't keep track of who was who, nor did I care to. To amplify the problem, this book had extremely short chapters, normally a good thing, but when a reader is already having trouble getting a firm grasp on the characters, constantly switching POVs just makes things even more confusing. While I am sure many will love this book, I was bored and disengaged.
This book was incredible. From the very first page, I was hooked! I finished it in two days and I wish is was not over. All the twists and turns!
From the first sentence, you know you're in for a ride with Carissa Ann Lynch's "Whisper Island." This thriller is a whodunit set on a remote Alaskan island. When four art school friends seek a place to perfect their art, they wind up with more than one murder mystery.
Friends Mia, Scarlet, Samantha and Riley get a free invitation to Whisper Island from Samantha's brother Rob. What they find is a run-down old house already occupied by Rob and his girlfriend Opal. Their dream getaway quickly turns into a nightmare.
The story is told in alternating voices, giving each girl space to reveal their own past and secrets. As each secret is gradually revealed bit by bit, it keeps readers guessing who did what to whom. The author uses the island setting to add an extra level of creepiness. As the characters learn, "remote" does not equal "alone."
With a group of recent college graduates, best friends. They decide to make the best of the last time when it will be just them before the real world joins their group. They rent a house for the entire summer. Which is located on an isolated unoccupied island.
Of course, all is not as simple and happy as it seems between the girls. As is revealed through multiple POVs.
When things start to go awry on the island. Those underlying relationship fissures, fracture and rise to the surface. Combined with the unnerving occurrences on the island, tension and panic escalates.
Then a death. A friend dies. A friend was murdered. Is there someone else on the island? Is it a random psycho? Or does one of the group harbor dark secrets that are finally catching up with them.?Why is this happening to them. Stay safe by staying together. Or will fear make them paranoid and point fingers.
This was described as a suspenseful plot. Overall, it had moments of suspense. It read more as a drama/mystery with a slow build to and between the excitable parts. The first 2-3 chapters read very young, slightly immature. I put the book down for a few days. I was resigned to force myself to push through. However, the story improved quickly and I was intrigued. I was glad I finished. Although it finished unnecessarily anticlimactic. Conclusion was drawn out somewhat and therefore not as impactful as it could have been.
That said, I would consider reading a second book by this author.

Whisper Island depicts the story of 4 college friends that take a trip to a supposedly gorgeous remote island. As soon as they arrive, things start to go dreadfully wrong. Firstly, the island isn't anywhere as fabulous as they thought it would be...the house is extremely run down and only accessible by boat. A mysterious journal is found along with a human skull. And then unfortunate events begin to occur, causing the island guests to question each other. Everyone has secrets worth killing to keep hidden. This was an intriguing mystery.
Whisper Island is set in an island in Alaska that four friends go to for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Little did they know that it would turn deadly. Everyone has a past and dark secrets start to arise as their time on the island turns dark.
Whisper Island has a teen-slasher feel to it; six friends go onto this island and the number slowly dwindle down as they get murdered. Every character has their own dark past and no one said willing to share it. College friends, and Sammy's brother and new girlfriend, have no where to hide and no where to go out on this. A must read for fans of slashers, thrill books, and suspense!
I rate this book as 4🌟!
I'd like to say a huge thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this one a lot! It has And Then There Were None vibes, except the four main girls are all very young. I enjoyed the multiple POVS, it wasn't overwhelming, and it was fun to be kept guessing. The ending fell a bit flat for me. Overall and enjoyable and suspenseful read.
Fantastic, quick thriller read! I couldn't wait to figure out what was happening on this island as people disappeared. Super thankful for the ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and Carissa Ann Lynch for this E-ARC in exchange for my honest feedback and review.
Riley, Sam, Mia, Scarlett take a trip to Whisper Island. What was meant to be a fun summer soon takes a turn.
Unfortunately this book did not do much to keep my attention. I found myself putting this down and not picking it back up for several days. Maybe it was just the way it was formatted as an E-Book. I just did not get into this story and did not finish it.
This was a super fun read – I got those locked-mystery vibes from this one! It reads a lot like other similar island books (think The Guest List), but it was unique enough that I didn’t feel like I was reading the same exact story. Perfect for a late winter-night read!
This one has a bit of a slow beginning and reads a little bit like a cozy mystery to start with. In the second half it really picks up and is a lot more suspenseful. I loved the setting for this one, it fit perfectly with the story and really added an element of tension. Overall this was a pretty good read but if you don't like the slow story start it might not be for you.
This thriller follows four artist friends—Riley, Sammy, Mia & Scarlett as they embark on a somewhat impulsive trip to Alaska. Although they were supposed to be focused on making masterpieces in the majestic town, a few unexpected guests start a downhill spiral of terror. And by the end of the week, the group trades sharpening their skills for surviving the night. 😱
Told in multiple POVs, with unreliable narrator, this has all the makings of a solid winter thriller.
I loved the plot, the red herrings and the storytelling. The characters were pretty surface level but there’s a reason behind it. Although I guessed whodunit literally before anyone was even “done,” I still enjoyed the journey.
One minor thing: I was hoping to be swept off my feet in the atmospheric Alaskan town before shit started to hit the fan, but that wasn’t the case. Things escalated VERY quickly!
Surprisingly this was my first by this author, but it won’t be my last. I found it predictable but pleasantly thrilling.
Whisper Island is a great edge-of-your-seat thriller! It was fast and gripping! I REALLY loved the short chapters between each character. I think it's what kept the book moving along nicely to figure out who done it and why! I didn't really put two and two together, so this one took me by surprise! Nicely done!
Four friends cannot pass up the opportunity to spend time on a private island in Alaska. Although there’s no WiFi or cell service, they look forward to spending time on their art. While Sammy and Mia have known each other for years, Riley and Scarlett are new to their friends group.
Mia is less than thrilled to learn Sammy’s troubled brother, and her own ex, Rob will be joining them. Things can’t seem to get worse when he not only brings his new girlfriend, Opal, but also starts flirting with Scarlett.
But things do get worse, as someone starts killing them off, one by one, while the only boat first is damaged then goes missing.
Is someone else on the island with them? Or is one of them a secret killer?
This is a quick read, a real page turner with brief chapters told from alternating points of view. Lots of twists and turns, a few red herrings, and a shocking ending. #WhisperIsland #NetGalley
WOW! I read this in one day because I could not put it down! I loved how Carissa Ann Lynch included multiple POVs and always kept you guessing all the way until the end. Would definitely recommend it to all thriller lovers. Many thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
