Loved reading this book and author. If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend her and her books. Happy reading
This needs to be made into a Hallmark Christmas movie immediately. This was sweet and snarky and fun and I will definitely be recommending this as a holiday read.
A great festive read. This features a fun and interesting storyline and is written well. I've not read this author before but I enjoyed this book a lot.
The perfect Christmas book for cosy nights abd frosty mornings. The ideal mic of. Likeable characters and storyline. Perfect.
What a fun holiday story! I like that the romance is taking place in a small winter wonderland of Christmas cheer. The holiday movie set is also a fun part of the story. I liked the story...a nice escape read.
This was an emotionally charged Christmas romance that ended up being very different from what I expected. What I liked about the book is the dual stories of the movie which they are filming as Noelle and Carson being told alongside their real life relationship as Carrie and Braxton. I also thought the premise of the book was cute and the location was perfect for a Christmas story. Unfortunately I felt like the writing was a bit disjointed and some of the scenes were too cringey for me (I mean, how many times do we need to hear about someone moaning?).
While it starts out much like any other romance, as the characters get to know each other better there is a lot of emotional baggage that gets unpacked, with topics such as kidnapping, child abuse, PTSD, accidental death of parents, suicidal thoughts, and war violence. Suffice it to say it is not just a cheery, feel good romance you may be expecting. The ending is one of hope and healing but it is quite the journey to get there in the end. Overall I'm glad I read the book but I feel there are stronger Christmas books out there.
Thanks NetGalley and Breaking Night Press for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love Christmas in Gingerbread Falls by Katie Mettner.
While it started off sweet it grew a little to sexually charged for my taste.
I really enjoyed the movie within the story. I felt the book was well written and the characters a little more complex then your average Christmas romance, which was refreshing.
I just had a hard time getting through it. I’m glad I read it, and I have already recommended it to a few people who I think will like it more than I did. It just was not a personal favourite. If this book sounds of interest, I think it is worth a try.
I received an eARC from Breaking Night Press though NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
I was sent a copy of Christmas at Gingerbread Falls and it was the perfect read to kick off the Holiday season! It was cute, funny and romantic but also had two strong and complex main characters. I loved that this book had a “story within a story” and I couldn’t wait to see how both ended!
If you’re a fan of The Hallmark Movie Channel, and let’s be honest, who isn’t this time of year, then be sure to check out A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls, you won’t be disappointed!
Not my favorite of this batch of Christmas romances.
It started off hitting every possible Hallmark movie trope—and there’s a reason for that. They’re shooting a movie for The Christmas Channel! The alternating stories were a fun way to go about telling the stories of our two characters.
What bothered me is that, from the beginning, we hear that Braxton has chosen Carrie to save his career. How did he decide on her? He’d never worked with her. He was going on hearsay and what he’d seen in the many, many Christmas movies she’d already done.
And, from the very beginning, the author spends lots of time describing how aroused he is by being in Carrie’s presence. All she has to do is sip some coffee and he’s in need of a cold shower. This comes up over and over.
The story is cute, and the outcome is predictable. But this one just didn’t grab me like others.
There are a couple of spicy sex scenes, so reader beware. Some language as well.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Although not a book I will be ordering in my professional life, it is a title that I will be recommending in my personal life!
The plot sounded promising, unfortunately I didn't manage to get into the story and failed to get involved with what was happening. Maybe I'll try picking it up another time. Who knows, the timing might be a bit off and I'll enjoy it some other time.
There was a story within a story in that some of the chapters were the filming of the movie so the characters were actually playing different characters. Thus, a Hallmark movie within a book. This part was just okay, and I preferred the actual story. It was pretty much what you would expect for a romance except that there was a little bit of a backstory that evolved. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When you read this book you feel like you are part of a Hallmark movie, it is so heartwarming. The characters are interesting, each wanting something different from acting in the Christmas movie. They wind up getting more than expected, they find love. Their conversations and relationship development are authentic, making you further invested in them. Carson’s story broke me, so much emotion for several reasons. Personally I enjoyed how as they filmed the movie it became real, making the movie even better. If you are looking for a festive book this is definitely it, I highly recommend giving it a try.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A emotional story called A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls bringing two couples together. Carrie and Braxton filming a Christmas movie at Gingerbread Falls brings them together as they play a very similar couple. It’s very strange to read two different yet similar stories in one book. I was riveted and couldn’t put the book down as I really needed to know on how the two couples supported each other through their struggles of dealing with their new relationship while suffering with emotional triggers regarding past trauma. The plot of the movie is very similar to their own emerging relationship as they overcome some hurdles and their secret hidden monsters. A story which tells about outbursts of emotional triggers and reactions from PTSD and how they need some help and support to gain insight to calm and soothe their emotions and feelings from a trigger. This book might trigger a reader who has similar PTSD these characters are suffering from. So if you have been triggered please call someone to talk about it. I have PTSD myself and I have not been triggered by reading their issues of trauma as I kept reminding myself it’s a story and it’s not my personal story.

A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls is a clever romance told from the the perspective of two actors both while filming a Christmas movie and as their real selves. Carrie Murray and Braxton Timothy starring in a holiday film together, playing Noelle and Carson. The movie is about a small town woman who runs a cafe meeting the new doctor in town. The story is told through scenes of the movie as well as what follows after they cut.
The romance was sweet and heartwarming. We follow Carrie and Braxton as they learn about each other and learn to accept each others traumatizing pasts. The movie sections are very Hallmark movie while the real life sections are much deeper and at times difficult. I enjoyed how both characters were understanding around one another and they grew together on set both romatically and emotionally.
There were a few things that seemed weird to me though, I think in the real world there was a power dynamic that the story only touched on a little. Even if their romance came about organically it would have still seemed like, from the outside looking in, that Carrie was swooning to get her part. Although that was not the case in the story. I also think that Braxton had a wierd infatuation with Carrie before he brought her onto this movie, so he laso had more time to fall for her than she did with him.
There were parts of the book that were very hot and heavy and it seemed to come a bit too quickly, but it overall was a very cute read and I love a holiday theme.
I absolutely loved this book! I read it in less than a day and was sad when it ended. Such a sweet tale of trusting love.
This story got me into the mood for Christmas lights trees, cookies you name it and smelling Gingerbread and lets not forget snow…. My favorite part about Christmas and winter in general. Not boring surprisingly I don’t always go for it in books because it is usually boring. But this one surprised me. . I love reading or watching anything about christmas. Very cute story at first I didn’t think I’d like this story. But I’m glad I gave it a chance. Even though at first I didn’t like the guy. I highly recommend for anyone who likes hallmark movies to read this book.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to my Christmas marathon of Hallmark movies with their festive spirit and all the warm and fuzzy feels. When my initial confusion over the first scene in this book cleared and I realised we were on a movie set and ‘the protagonist’ Noelle was a movie character, I was delighted. A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls is a story in a story and both of them are romances.
No one is as surprised as Carrie Murray when she gets an invitation to audition for a role next to famous (or should we say notorious?) Braxton Timothy. She has no idea why this celebrity chose to make and co-star in this sweet, feel good romance. For Carrie, this is the genre she feels most comfortable with, but will they have enough onscreen chemistry to create something special and make the audience believe in love magic? And when it becomes clear that there’s the proverbial spark between the two lead actors, should they leave their past experiences behind and let their feelings grow?
To be honest, I found the onscreen romance between Noelle, a homeloving cafe owner in a small town, and Carson, a new doctor who has just moved to the town, unbelievably cheesy, but the ‘real life’ plot was well-balanced with uplifting moments (and some steam!) and sad, tragic backstories.
Overall, this was a quick and entertaining Christmas read and I would love to read more from Katie Mettner in future.
A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls - a must read - for a feel-good holiday romance along with a surprising and satisfying twist to give it bonus points. A Hallmark type movie is being shot in a small North Dakota town starring the hottest Hollywood hunk and the queen of Christmas movies. The story AND their relationship develop along similar but different lines and both stories are given equal space by the very talented author, Katie Mettner. The weaving of the stories is very well done, and it was a true joy to read. I’ll be rereading this one every year. I absolutely love this book!
Carrie Murray and Braxton Timothy are actress and actor starring in a film being shot in Gingerbread Falls. They play Noelle and Carson; Noelle Butler is a coffee shop owner and Carson Stark is a managing director.
A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls was an engrossing story within a story. I thought it was fantastic; the plot, the different points of view, the characters. I enjoyed reading about the romances as well as all of the drama. The Christmassy aspects were tremendous, and the reader also learned of Carrie's and Braxton's troubled pasts. For anyone expecting a merely a syrupy, saccharine romance this is not it as there are multiple layers including trauma, darkness, abuse, upset, disturbing parts, risquéness though there are dollops of humour. All in all a riveting, delectable festive tale I'm pleased to have read.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Breaking Night Press via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
