It’s a cute story that puts you in the mood for Christmas. It reminds me of a hallmark movie sonic you want a feel good book this is your jam
I thought this was a charming story. The characters are believable and for the most part very likeable. The only thing missing was me sitting next to a Christmas tree., sipping hot chocolate while reading this book.
Such a sweet romantic comedy with Christmas feels that transports you right into the holiday season even though it’s the middle of the summer now. So I think that if you are not in the mood for Christmas during the actual winter season then this book will fix that!
Gingerbread Falls feels like a magical town that just brings joy and comfort. This is where Braxton Timothy, one of the top actors in Hollywood, decides to produce a Christmas film, and also star in it. Carrie is also a star in this movie. They have such a great chemistry that you don’t even want to put the book down.
So yeah, this book is really cozy and romantic, even though there are some darker themes. Definitely recommend.
As the weather has been pretty Autumnal lately where I live, I've been really in the mood to read seasonal books. And this one definitely did the trick! Gingerbread Falls feels like a town straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. This book is fun, festive and soooo cozy! I absolutely love the connection and chemistry between Carrie and Braxton! The only thing that I personally didn't like (but this is just me), is that there's a lot of depth and some darkness. It wasn't written in a bad way at all, but I was hoping for a silly festive read. One that I don't have to think too much about. Overall I really enjoyed it!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author, for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another wonderful read from Katie Mettner. I love all her books. This time we are treated to a Christmas story. Braxton Timothy one of the top stars in Hollywood has decided to produce and star in a Christmas movie. He insisted on Carrie Murray as the female lead who has only appeared in Christmas movies. The story reads like a Hallmark Christmas story with storyline switching back and forth with the scenes from the movie to real life. The two co-stars start to fall in love but both struggle with their past. Carrie is afraid to trust and take a chance. Highly recommend!!!
Received this book as an ARC from Netgalley for my honest review.
I was very excited to read this book and have a heartwarming, Christmas love story to get me excited for the Winter season. Unfortunately this book really wasn't for me.
Carrie is an actor who stars in Christmas movies. Braxton is a big time actor who stars in action/adventure movies. Braxton decides he needs a change, and decides to co star with Carrie in a new Christmas film. As the book progresses you learn more about the pairs past traumas and how it affects their current lives as they start to fall for each other and you watch as they try to battle through their pasts to achieve the futures they want.
I found there were some major parts of this book that didn't sit well with me namely regarding Braxton's past and his parents. I found the topic was discussed insensitively and didn't make sense. It felt like both characters were given overly dramatic and traumatising pasts which didn't make sense and where developed or discussed well. You're left in the dark about Carrie's past until about half way through the book, when its revealed it seems so unlikely and brushed over that there didn't seem to be any point to it, and there could have been a much simpler explanation for Carrie's personality.
The writing in the book felt repetitive and boring so at the half way point I was ready to finish the book. I can see how some people could love this story for escapism and a quick Christmas read, but for me there were too many areas that didn't work and left me bored.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy to read/review. I am providing my honest review.
This was a creative storyline and a wonderful read. I loved the Hallmark movie intertwined with the real life story.
This is a sweet, with some steam, story about two people that are surviving the present but with unforgettable torments from their past. Carrie and Braxton are more alike than they realize. They have an attraction to one another but some of their past fears keep them from acting upon those feelings. The more time they spend together…they help one another break down the barriers they are holding them back.
A wonderful book to put you in the holiday season!
Carrie is a TV Christmas movie actress who signs on to work with an a-list action actor in her latest TV Movie. Gingerbread Falls is a dual perspective book that switches back and forth from movie scenes from their film schedule to real life.
This book was like a TV Christmas movie, and was a cute, easy, quick read. The movie within the story was cute and echoed some of the trials of the main couple. Both characters dealt with trauma from their childhoods, and how to overcome their issues and open up to one another.
A brilliant book that I couldn’t put down. A double love story if you will, concerning two actors and the characters that they are playing in a Christmas romance movie. The stories of both the fictional characters and the real-life ones follow a similar path and the narrative switches between them. If you love a Christmas romance you will enjoy this - the characters were lovable and Gingerbread Falls sounds like an ideal xmas town. Grab a hot chocolate and settle in.
3.5/5 stars
Carrie, a Christmas movie actress gets cast in yet another Christmas movie. And her costar is none other than Braxton, Hollywood’s biggest action star.
Switching back and forth between movie scenes and real life you get a glimpse of the classic Christmas movie and the building romantic tension between Carrie and Braxton.
Will they be able to overcome the scars from their pasts, or will they be to scared to take a chance at love?
This story has a hallmark movie feel but also has depth of past trauma. The characters have such depth and represent trauma and ptsd in a emotional and serious way. Even with the trauma, this is still a lighthearted story.
Featuring Christmas movies, Christmas magic, the struggle between trust and self protection, and the battle between running and staying, this is a deep Christmas romance.
For mature readers as there are some sexual references and scenes. Some of these scenes seemed a bit random and sudden to me but as the story progressed they seemed more natural. Did I mention the one bed trope?!
I received this as a free ARC from netgalley.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
The story has Carrie and Braxton, who are an actress and actor, starring in a movie being filmed in Gingerbread Falls. They play Noelle and Carson, in the movie.
The story weaves a lot between the movie and the characters arc. Both main characters have past trauma and I was glad to see that they'd got appropriate help rather than have it glossed over. Aside from the issue that I had with this book, it wasn't a bad story and did keep me reading (albeit the sections I glossed over). I got this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Alternating between scenes reminiscent of everyone’s favorite made-for-TV movies and unexpected, off-screen chemistry, Gingerbread Falls has surprises in store this holiday season. The question is, will there be enough Christmas magic to convince two imperfect people that they’re perfect for each other?
Thanks Netgalley for a arc copy of this book for a honest review..
I love reading Christmas books any day of the month. When I saw the title I hoping to get a chance to read A Christmas At Gingerbread Falls. Like some of the reviewer have said it felt like a hallmark movie that's not a bad thing. I could see this book come to life a 5 star read
Happy Reading 📚

Carrie Murray is an actress who stars in Christmas movies. Braxton Timothy is a big-time Hollywood actor. Although Carrie is a superb actress, Braxton casts her in his first Christmas movie because of other reasons. Both Carrie and Braxton have their own baggages and past that make them more reserved. After spending time together on set, Braxton falls in love with Carrie, but Carrie is filled with fear from her past.
I rarely read Christmas books but this book by Mettner is amazing. It's different from the rest; going back and forth between the movie they were filming and the lives of Carrie and Braxton gave a gist on what Carrie was feeling. It's a very well-written book and I enjoyed every moment of it. I would have loved a bit more information on Carrie's past, but making it more mysterious and secretive leave the reader begging for more details. Although it has a bit of the typical love story, the setting is different. I love how I was able to imagine Gingerbread Falls just from Mettner's description and I love how engaging this book is.
I chose this book because I thought it would read like a Hallmark book. While in a large part it was, it also tried for sizzle. If I'm honest, I read for character development not sex scenes. That said, I felt the scenes were gratuitous in nature and so will not appeal to the sweet romance readers nor people who like things spicy. If you enjoy escapism, you might enjoy this book if you can put that aside.

The story has Carrie and Braxton, who are an actress and actor, starring in a movie being filmed in Gingerbread Falls. They play Noelle and Carson, in the movie.
The book reads like a Hallmark movie, but the difference is, the movie part of the story is like that, but Carrie and Braxton's past still haunts them, they have to face their demons, and in order to move forward they have to learn to let some things go.
This is much more than a Christmas story with the Christmas magic, it is about learning to open up, trusting someone, and when it starts being good, you are so scared, and your instinct is to run. What will they do? The chemistry is there between Carrie and Braxton, as well as, Noelle and Carson. This is where the substance of the book comes in, finding out what they each do. It is a journey they have to step into, and they have to start making choices of what they want now.
I received an ARC from Breaking Night Press through NetGalley.
This book has so much Christmas spirit and romance that it’s like reading a Hallmark movie! You’ll follow Noelle and Carson through their movie-magic romance while Carrie and Braxton have a real life one.
I loved the plot, the different POVs, the characters and the setting! So fun and Christmas-y.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Carrie who is an actress is excited to star in a Christmas movie with Braxton who is a movie star. Carrie is not looking for romance after her tragic past. I enjoyed the chemistry that developed between Carrie and Braxton.
As a big fan of romantic Christmas movies I have to say this book hit all the marks for me and has left me longing for cosy Christmas evenings. Carrie and Braxtons relationship is lovely and my goodness the chemistry between them is amazing!
I really loved the added bonus of the recipe at the end such a lovely addition!
Once I got my head round the actual story and the two main charters acting in a film I enjoyed the book. Both main characters have a difficult past that is revealed as the story progresses. It’s an easy read and I’m glad I stuck with it, would I recommend it - yes I would
