A cute Christmas romance is exactly what I needed right now and Katie Mettner delivered. What really got me was the Christmas Romance with a one bed trope! I really struggled with what I should rate this book.

This book really pulls you in. Carrie and Braxtons are co-stars in a Christmas Romance movie set in Gingerbread Falls. Their goal is to have the movie they’re filming air on the Christmas network. Their chemistry on screen and off in this book was incredible.

I loved reading about the struggles that they each faced in their lives and how they ultimately helped each other heal different parts of themselves. I didn’t expect this book to be so emotional and relatable. I also loved that we got to see experience the movie that they’re filming also.

An added bonus is the recipe at the end of the book! I can’t wait to try them.

Thank you to Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book for an honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC to this beautiful vook by Katie Mettner! My opinion is purely my own.

I'm not a Christmas person, I have to admit this. However, this book had me hooked. I had to keep reading about Carrie and Brax and their lives. I'm obsessed with this book and when it gets officially published in October, I will be the first in line to own it and reread it over and over again. I recommend this to anyone, no matter the weather or season.

I received an advance copy of, A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls, by Katie Mettner. This is a cute love story for Christmas.I liked Carrie and Braxton, they had good chemistry.

I love Hallmark Christmas movies and this is a Hallmark movie in a book: literally. The interweaving of the two stories seemed a bit overwhelming in places and I much preferred the ‘real story’ and would have liked more focus on that. However, it has already whetted my appetite for the Christmas channel to start so all good.

Thank you to NetGalley for access to the ARC.

I will not be publishing my review to Instagram and Goodreads at this time in the event that reader feedback influences the published version.

Unfortunately this romance novel did not work for me.

Carrie acts in Christmas romance films, Braxton is a big-time action star. Carrie is confused when Braxton takes on a Christmas film, not only as her co-star, but as a producer. What is his motivation? The film itself is about Noelle and Carson, a barista and a doctor in Gingerbread Falls. This book weaves the fictional movie story and the real story of the actors together.

Things I liked:
- I had so much hope for the two different stories being woven together – the Christmas film and the story between the actors. I loved the concept and it had a lot of promise. I just didn’t get into both!
- The attempt at building depth for both Carrie and Braxton’s characters, but their backstories were both pretty intense and took me by surprise given the “lightness” of the rest of the book

Things I didn’t like:
- Some of the dialogue in the “real world” story was incredibly long and exposition-y, it didn’t feel like real conversations
- The “real world” story jumped around quite a lot and I felt like I missed building tension or interactions between the characters. I didn’t.
- There were some very repetitive parts in the characters’ internal monologues
- I still didn’t understand Braxton’s early fixation with Carrie – I don’t think their early attraction to each other was built up enough
- The use of “George” as a reference (when you’ve read it, you’ll know)
- The complication in the movie plot was a little dramatic – but I guess that’s what the Hallmark movies are like!

In short: it was a very quick read and ticks a lot of the romance boxes – but I didn’t understand the characters and their attraction to each other well enough, and I personally wasn’t invested in either of the romance plots. This is just me – I know my romance tastes. There will be a lot of people who will enjoy the holiday escapism in this one!

This book is living two lives inside one cover....it wants to be a Hallmark movie, but it also wants to be a spicy love story...and it can't be both. It's written with basically two stories intertwined, and goes back and forth between the two. I honestly think it would work better if it chose a persona and went with it!

I absolutely loved this book. It was like stepping into a hallmark movie. Quick, fast paced and sweet. Just what I needed. I love how this author writes, I felt as if I was strolling through this town with the characters.

A must read, you will instantly be in the holiday spirit!

This was a quick read and a sweet romance. There was a story within a story in that some of the chapters were the filming of the movie so the characters were actually playing different characters. Thus, a Hallmark movie within a book. This part was just okay, and I preferred the actual story. It was pretty much what you would expect for a romance except that there was a little bit of a backstory that evolved.
