I have a confession to make. I have not read any other books in The Order of the Wolf Series. I know, I know. I should have started from the beginning. The author did state in the blurb that each story is a standalone story that can be enjoyed in any order. To be honest, I feel Ms. Addams is correct. There was plenty of backstory and explanations along the way that I had no problems keeping up with the storyline or the characters.

I’m not sure if this was meant to be Darcy and Raven book but to be quite honest, it read more like every couple’s book. Well, every couple by Dyami and Summer. Didn’t feel I got to know them very well. I did, however, get good coverage of all the players. Order, Huntresses, and Wolves. In a nutshell: Darcy has been going behind Raven’s back hunting beasts. He’s not happy about it but realizes she can’t fight what she is. The Wolves and their mates get together to train to fight the beasts when Darcy and Raven are kidnapped away. An evil plan is put into play to use the girls' powers to unleash Lazarus, the king of the beasts, and it’s going to take them all to stop it.

If this book is any indication of what to expect, I really need to go back to the beginning. Beast Rising certainly has an interesting storyline which is why I enjoy reading Ms. Addam’s stories. She does a great worldbuilding with interesting characters, neither of which is lacking here. There’s plenty of one on one time and heat between the mated couples while also exciting battles where all the characters come into play. There’s good pacing with a great epic ending. The story does have the feel of a finale to the series with just a suggestion of there could be more to come. I personally would like to see how things play out with the Order. Definitely something paranormal fans will enjoy.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
